Wouldn't we have two slots open then? So, who has money in the G6?
We don't need to leave one open for ND, IMO.
I think Memphis has some FedEx fortune behind it, and maybe Bass Pro shops cash, too.
And I guess South Florida would be the next in line for the last slot?
Or maybe Liberty can invoke a divine intervention to pull into the lead!

USMNT got to the final 8 in 2002.
Lost to Germany with a suspect hand ball call. Too bad Trump was not around to overturn that one (LOL).
USMNT also played Brazil in the 2009 confederations cup final, a eight team tournament of confederation champions played the year before the world cup. Too bad but they don't do it anymore. It was hosted by the world cup host nation as a early, smaller, trial run tune up event for the real thing a year later. That would have been great to host last year in the US, as a world cup appetizer event.
Two other moments that the USMNT was probably better than this time. I can think of two more as well, but this is a VT board so two is enough.

Possibility #3, start kicking bottom teams out. The Big East booted Temple.
It would be a good way to get more attractive match ups in conference.

I saw John Denver at William & Mary.
In the round in their basketball arena around 1979. A really fun evening ruined by an audience full of idiots who insisted upon singing along, loud and proud, to every song.

I think it will mostly generate campaign donations.
With enough of those (or Egyptian gold bars), it will get watered down enough that it does not bother the P2 anymore.

Useful for receiver drills. Player: Which route now Coach? Coach: Up!
That would catch some defenses off guard.

Aren't those states now court ordered to redraw their maps?
If so, I doubt agents will instruct their players to avoid all of those great programs, forgoing all that money, to come to Virginia.
Besides, VA already did what LA is planning in 2016 (when the VA courts divided VA #3). So, shouldn't we also be on that list until we put it back together?

Isn't ESPN our "private equity corporation" in this case?
They already own the contract for those games, so only ESPN can sell them to the CW, and only they can profit. Still, I would not be surprised if the ACC gets some small boost every time ESPN makes an arrangement like this. I wish articles like this would tell us.

Add USC and PSU.
Those four playing each other every year, and adding in a few Notre Dame games that would surely happen. Why do they need a conference at all?
The ACC would give them all the Notre Dame deal, IMO. Why not?

The article says "everyone worked together" to get this done.
My interpretation is that the ACC got something out of this. I'd like to know exactly what, however, beyond this statement:
"Duke worked with the ACC and ESPN on future scheduling commitments in exchange for the ability to play these three neutral-site games, including participating in select ESPN-owned and operated neutral-site events in the 2027-28 and 2028-29 seasons."

FSU threatening to close the strait again?
At this point, I'd almost pay them to go away and be someone else's problem. Maybe that is their plan.

After the war stops, a Saudi Arabia ACC bowl game would be interesting.
It would be great have a B12/ACC bowl game that paid out like the CFP.
Besides, I'd love to go there and ride that crazy roller coaster at Six Flags Qiddiya City.

You have learned well, young grasshopper!
Rich or poor, good times or bad, we should all spend our money with this much consideration.

What number is that? CPI is a percentage, currently at 2.4%, trending down.
But it has been between 3% and 2.3% for the past year, sometimes up and sometimes lower, but trending down since Sept.
It's the number the SSA uses for their COLA. We will hear the Feb number in a week or so.
Gas prices have also been trending down, obviously, everywhere not just CostCo. Fortunately, the price of gas figures into almost everything.

Most would not, because the terms would be unfair.
They would not give VT a home and home. So, we would pass, I believe.

The new ND rule just means the committee will game their selections.
If we had that rule this year, ND would have been ranked above Miami. Perception problem solved. They and ND don't want to flack that would come from actually invoking that rule.

Falling behind is the only motivator I see.
If one or the other thinks they are falling behind the other, I could see them raiding the ACC to try to generate some buzz.
IMO, this is what the B10 did by adding USC and UCLA. The SEC added Texas and OK and the B10 felt they had to react or fall behind.
The B10 thinks they are the best right now, so I doubt they see much benefit to adding UNC and UVa. Maybe Miami and FSU is attractive enough for them to go after, a nice pair in Fla.
And I also don't see anyone that helps the SEC catch up to the B10, if they are even behind at all, which I doubt, maybe Miami and Arizona State could work for them.
But I think both with take a few years to let things settle before they look around. I think TV would pony up a normal share for any of those to the new B10 to SEC teams. Those confs would then offer a temporary reduced rate to the invitee, of course, making it work out. But that is only temporary, so it would be worth it to FSU, or whoever, as well.

We need a football NIT, but for everyone, not just the G6.
If you don't get invited the CFP, why not participate in a football (Not Invited) Tournament (unless you are Notre Dame)? The winner would just be the FNIT champion, not the G6 national champion.
It would be better than the bowl games. I'd prefer for it to be run by the NCAA, as a contrast to the CFP, and have auto-invites for the top non-CFP teams in each conference. Let the SEC and B10 turn their invites down. I wouldn't care. But any conference kept back at one or zero CFP teams should want to do it, IMO, even the ACC and the B12 (e.g. Virginia, Duke, SMU and BYU, Utah, Houston).

It a maxim, "all successful tournaments expand until they are ridiculous".
NCAA BB is already too big, and the world cup is too. 32 was perfect. Women's world cup definitely is too big. 16 is too big for that one.

I feel bad for Indiana at 5th. OSU is 1st. Ugh.
They must hate OSU as much as I do by now.
And ND is just above them at 4th.

If UVa had just beat Duke, we would have both UVa and Miami in and ND out.
I also don't believe the CFP committee is rigged, and the tooth fairy, santa claus, etc.

Shouldn't we blame FSU (and I guess Clemson, too) if anyone?
I thought we started all this uneven $ sharing because of them not Miami. If we are going to have it, and we can't get it, I'd rather FSU and Clemson don't get it.
Also, IIRC Miami was pretty chill about sharing in the old Big East. We started off not sharing very much and then over time, eventually got pretty even (probably because VT was taking it all from everyone else!)

12-1 leading into Champ weekend, while ND sat home, and Bama lost big, too.
Plus BYU only lost to TT (twice, of course). I would have preferred to have BYU (and Miami) in the playoffs over ND and Bama.

Comical that conventional wisdom now is that Miami is the team the P2 want
A year ago, it was that neither were interested in Miami, small private school, no longer elite, etc.
Ideally, SMU kicks it up a notch and suddenly we will hear about how the B10 has always had their eye on Dallas.
Hopefully, the same for us.

Circumstances say no. BC is the only ACC team with hockey besides ND.
Seems like it could work at Pitt and Syracuse, however. Not sure why they don't have it.
I've posted several times that ND and BC should play home and home and get those games onto the ACCN somehow.
Or, better yet if we could get all of BC's home games onto the ACCN somehow. I'm sure contractual issues keep any of that from happening.

ND plays plenty of traditional rivals.
It's just that the yearly tradition is now five or so games in the ACC.

Very smart move by BYU IMO.
ND's history is to schedule BYU for ND home games, and then postpone or cancel the return game, or move it to a neutral site (Las Vegas which was originally supposed to be in Provo).
I think BYU insisted that the series start in Provo, so there can be no funny business with that game, then play at ND later.
Even better for BYU, is that they have Notre Dame and all their fans selling how great BYU is to the world. They have to pump that game up. It probably will be near the end of the year, with ND telling everyone that it is should be valued like a championship game wrt the CFP.
Good for BYU.

I'd like to see them go to 16 games but have two levels of byes.
They players are professionals now. They can handle it.
Bottom 8 teams, play 4 games to get to 12 teams.
Bring in 4 bye teams, then play 4 more games to get to 8 teams.
Then bring in 4 more byes, play 4 games, then 2, then 1.
Even if you have two "undeserving" teams again, they would be gone before the top 12 play.
Actually, I would like them to allow 6 auto bids, if they did this. If teams #15 and #16 really are bad, they drop right out.
