Wow 4 ranked teams they beat 0-4 n Bowls. Bama got spanked last 2 games &
just held on for an Auburn team that fired their coach. Saban saw this coming with the Portal and NIL, it's why he got out.

Adds fuel to the......
growing sentiment that SEC football is rapidly becoming B1G basketball. Both having reps built more off of self fulfilling prophecies than the actual on field/court merit of their accomplishments. The difference is the SEC does have prior post season success in football in recent times as compared to not so much for B1G basketball postseason success.

BYU lost 34-7 to Texas Tech, that got skunked 23-0 by Oregon.
ND's only loss was to playoff teams Miami and Texas A&M and they were very close games at the beginning of the season. PS If they are not going to count the losses and how they lost in the Conference Champ game, end them, and let everyone play OOC matchups in week zero.

12-1 leading into Champ weekend, while ND sat home, and Bama lost big, too.
Plus BYU only lost to TT (twice, of course). I would have preferred to have BYU (and Miami) in the playoffs over ND and Bama.

I understand that point of view, but ~34-7 loss in your last game, like
Bama's loss to UGA should have knocked them out too.

The 3 losses alone should have put Alabama behind 12 in rank.
That's on that Committee that needs to be gotten rid of. But they won't. They love committees in these tournaments, and they are biased. Alabama did win the first game at Oklahoma, which counts for something. But they should not have been there with 3 losses since 2 other teams has only 2 losses and were more deserving IMO. Kirk Herbstreet couldn't have been more suprised that Alabama couldn't handle it this year. He's probably the only one other than that Committee. Alabama is still a very good team, but they were picked over 2 others that I think were more deserving. After watching this, the CFP needs to go to 16 now with zero Byes. The teams with the byes are showing that they are too rusty in this playoff. Only 1 out of the last 8 has been able to win, and all of them should be the better teams. The NFL handles that ok, but it's not a month layoff like college.

Yep, ND's ire should've been directed at the committee instead of the ACC.
ND knew it was the committee that screwed up but they want to get out of the agreement with the ACC. They used the situation to purposefully create a dustup with the ACC. No way did the ACC network's constant showing of Miami's early season win over ND have anything to do with the committee's decision. Miami's head to head win over the Irish also allowed the committee to make sure that all of the P4 had a representative in the playoff.

I would have put ND in over Bama. And I said it back then.
But the level of whining from the ND types, particularly their low life AD is pathetic. The line needs to be drawn somewhere, and the Irish were on the wrong side of it for once. Get over it.

If they ever need a lesson in understanding how it feels to get the shaft…
from being excluded from higher level bowls, higher rankings or tournament invites, Tech could give them some good pointers. If I’m not mistaken, I believe the Irish screwed us over on a few bowls that should have been ours back in the day. We whined just like they did this year. The big difference was no one heard us or cared ha ha ha. My favorite is still the year we beat Wake Forest twice in basketball and had the better record during the Greenberg days, and the selection committee invited Wake to the dance and we went to the NIT with them citing it was Wake’s body of work that got them in. My 2nd favorite was in 2000 when a top 10 Michael Vick 10-1 team was passed up for the Fiesta Bowl in favor for the lower ranked 9-2 Notre Dame. We destroyed Clemson in the lower tiered Gator Bowl and watched Oregon State take ND to the woodshed. There are so many more examples as we Hokies know.

The Bowls are Notorious for passing over teams to get what they want
We're familiar. It happened more than once to UVA that we were passed over for NCState when UVA was a full game ahead in the standings. The Peach Bowl is notorious. It's now part of the CFP and out of that game. The bowls are looking to sell tickets, fill stands, and get the better travelling fans to their cities for tourism. But that committee shouldn't be doing that. They now seem to be following what ESPN wants for ratings. And being on the bubble for the basketball tournaments is rolling the dice. The committee does whatever they feel like. ** Edited by HOO86 at 1/2/2026, 10:51:03 AM

That’s always been the case with bowls…
Nothing against UVa, but Tech was well known for traveling when we were good and still got 2nd to 3rd pick in many bowl allocations back in the BCS era. Not that it’s right, but UVa always had issues with fan turnout compared to other big schools and that never helped you all. As for basketball, you really can’t spell VirgiNIaTech without NIT.

Bama did not belong and I would say that no matter the team. The SEC is
Experiencing a leveling of the playing field now because now it is legal to pay players. The SEC advantage is gone. Still the top conference but the gap is really narrower.

Yep - the SEC is 4-8 in bowl games.

Agreed, transfer portal and NIL makes it so they don't stockpile as much.
It might be the biggest reason Saban got out too.

Sadly all will be forgotten next year
when the esteemed committee once again gives every sec team the benefit of the doubt at the expense of the non P2 schools.

Might be right, got to keep talking about it to eventually change it.
