I think Notre Dame is more like a blue collar type team
Even though I'm not a fan of ND, I must admit they know what they're doing in the age of NIL and execute without fail on most opportunities.

Limits everone's chances,
Right? Isn't there a rule a school must be independent before joining a conference?

They have to put a line on every game now...
...because if you don't take bets on the game, you can't make any money on the game, and sportsbooks are greedy.

A legislative act signed by the president creates
a "new" law. Of course you can shop judges, but the Supreme Court as it stands tends to give deference to legislation signed into law. "Reasonable" and "workable" solutions will take a backseat to "doing something".

The legislation,......
while perhaps having some needed provisions, is a lawsuit waiting to happen and like the House Settlement a poorly designed plan that will further damage rather than preserve college athletics, in my opinion. Both judges, Claudia Wilken(House) and Charlotte Sweeney(5 for 5) may know the law but, they along with the congressional sponsors of the preserve legislation appear to have devoted scant little time and even less thought into developing reasonable and workable solutions.

Note: In the transition, some of today's posts will be lost.
So if you're posting today, don't post anything you consider to be important, because it might not make the jump.
Or, better yet, put it in a Word doc or Google doc or Notes or whatever and save a local copy.

Ugh. Iโm very against the expansion section as written
But nothing to do now about it. Will have to wait and see what makes it across the finish line.

It appears that the legislation codifies
the competitive advantage that the BIG and SEC have over the ACC and B12 - like in perpetuity. If the BIG and SEC actually go to 19, there will not be any chairs left for any school to move up the ladder unless they find the money to compete at those levels outside of the media contracts.
That means schools like Purdue, Rutgers, Mississippi State and others get the big bucks just by luck of the draw.
For the first time in all of this mess, I know advocate for a new conference with the "best of the rest" of the ACC and B12, with several schools currently in those conferences to be left out. However, there are provisions to keep PE out of the super league business, and I wonder if that includes forming a new conference.

Interestingly, no expansion planned
"Looking ahead to 2027, Ng confirmed that the league will stay at six teams, though further expansion remains โon the horizon.โ She also expects the teams to stay in their same markets for the โlong term.โ
"One possible change is the addition of more games to the schedule, which Ng said is โon the table.โ The AUSL played 25 regular-season games in 2026.
โWe want to make sure that the foundation of this league is extraordinarily solid, stable and is set for tremendous growth in the future,โ Ng said. โHaving said that, we definitely want to just make sure that we keep this momentum going and keep our legs sturdy beneath us.โ
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One issue that might be behind that decision is the implementation of the NCAA 5-for-5 rule. There may not be the influx of new players like there was this past year.

AUSL is going all-in for softball, pausing WBB and volleyball
Good business decision, IMHO.
They have a great product that has lots of momentum so strike while the iron is hot.
I was hoping their basketball would get some legs to create an alternative to the WNBA but that isn't happening in the short term and perhaps never.

A Cap of 19 would severely limit VTโs chances of moving.
I was very confident it the cap was 22 or more. Fairly confident at 20. But 19 means only three for the SEC and one for the big ten. Scary

So .... only four potential new slots in the BIG and SEC.
The BIG is at 18 and the SEC at 16 .... so really, just two potential SEC slots, and that's it. Because neither league is going to 19 teams, unless the Big 10 adds Notre Dame.

AI says these are the key provisions of the Support College Sports Act.
Protect College Sports Act establishes a uniform federal framework to stabilize collegiate athletics by protecting athlete welfare, regulating compensation, and giving the NCAA narrow antitrust exemptions to enforce national standards.
The key provisions of the legislation include:
Athlete Rights and Financial ProtectionsNIL Codification: Guarantees student-athletes the statutory right to earn Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) compensation without facing eligibility penalties from schools or the NCAA.Mandatory Disclosures:
Requires athletes to disclose any NIL agreement valued over $600 per year to maintain market transparency.
Agent Restrictions: Updates federal agent laws to cap agent fees at 5% of endorsement contracts and protects athletes from deceptive marketing practices.
Scholarship Security: Prohibits institutions from revoking, reducing, or conditioning athletic grants-in-aid due to athletic performance, injury, or roster management decisions.Health, Safety, and Medical CoverageExtended Medical Care:
Mandates that Division I schools cover out-of-pocket medical expenses for sports-related injuries during an athlete's tenure and for five years post-eligibility.
Medical Trust Fund: Establishes a $60 million national medical trust fund to assist smaller athletic programs with long-term injury coverage.Independent Safety Standards:
Requires schools to designate an independent health and safety officer to oversee serious sports risks like concussions and heat illnesses.
Roster Management and Eligibility
The One-Transfer Rule: Solidifies a policy allowing athletes to transfer once without losing immediate playing eligibility, while a second transfer generally mandates sitting out a season.
Five-Year Eligibility Window: Caps an athlete's total competition window at five calendar years, triggering immediately after high school graduation or turning 19.
Mid-Season Coaching Lock: Prohibits football coaches and key staff from abandoning their teams mid-season to effectively take over rival programs.
Institutional and Conference GovernanceOlympic and Women's Sports Protections: Mandates that high-revenue schools maintain their 2024โ25 scholarship levels and roster spots for non-revenue generating, Olympic, and women's sports programs.
Antitrust Exemptions: Provides the NCAA and conferences narrow antitrust protection to legally police roster caps and revenue-sharing compliance without constant litigation.
Student Athlete Representation: Requires that at least one-third of the governing boards or rulemaking committees within intercollegiate athletic associations consist of current or recent student-athletes.
Conference Expansion Caps: Restricts the most powerful conferences from expanding infinitely (effectively capping power leagues at 19 teams) to preserve geographic and traditional alignments.

Great night for Cori!
Cori was 2 for 4 with a single, a home run, a walk, and a stolen base.
She scored one run and had three runs batted in.
Sheโs back, baby!

I will be disappointed if VT offense does not exceed 60 and VT defense keep
Vmi to single digits. 63-6 and I am satisfied!

The new upgrades to Notre Dame facilities.
It is absolutely unreal and magnificent amenities. It's probably the best in all of college football. Just saw the video walk through. One word, WOW

The have been some games with massive blowout
Potential in the past. If I remember correctly they were classified as "no line". I guess they don't do that now sine the VMI game has a line.
