So if you're posting today, don't post anything you consider to be important, because it might not make the jump. Or, better yet, put it in a Word doc or Google doc or Notes or whatever and save a local copy.

So .... only four potential new slots in the BIG and SEC.

The BIG is at 18 and the SEC at 16 .... so really, just two potential SEC slots, and that's it. Because neither league is going to 19 teams, unless the Big 10 adds Notre Dame.

Tech Sideline is Rolling Out a Major Upgrade This Weekend

This weekend, Tech Sideline will be launching its first major website revamp in many years. Here’s what you need to know and what to expect.

TSL Audio: Chris Coleman on The Fast Lane, 7-27-2026

TechSideline.com lead analyst Chris Coleman joined The Fast Lane on Monday, July 27 to discuss: - Why Hokies fans should rejoice because the changes around a new coaching staff in Blacksburg are not dysfunctional (unlike what’s happening at UNC) - If you’re a Virginia Tech fan do you want the chaos to continue in Chapel Hill? Or is it disappointing because it weakens the collective ACC? - Does CC expect the 2026 football recruiting class to remain ranked 15–25 nationally? - How much is CC monitoring potential coaching changes at Maryland, North Carolina and South Carolina to see if those places flip coaching staffs and Virginia Tech can flip some of their rosters? - Is Ed right to monitor a potential coaching change at South Carolina given how well Shane Beamer has recruited Virginia? - Is it reasonable to say that right now Virginia Tech is not bringing in and does not have the high-end talent of a Miami but collectively they are upgrading the talent on their roster across the board?

Beyond the Pail With Bud Foster, Episode 7: Opposing Coaches

Former Virginia Tech defensive coordinator Bud Foster looks back at an impressive list of coaches the Hokies faced in his career. (80 minutes).

TSL Audio: Andy Bitter on The Fast Lane, 7-20-2026

TechSideline.com senior reporter Andy Bitter joined The Fast Lane on Monday, July 20 to discuss: - What were the biggest hits of James Franklin meeting the media at The ACC Kickoff? - Have people failed to fully contextualize James Franklin saying that Virginia Tech won the off-season? - Can we fully trust that the Virginia Tech football team looks like a big-time program from the physical make up of the Hokies players? - What are the biggest takeaways from Athletic Director Brian White speaking with a media? - Why Marcellous Hawkins might be the biggest takeaway from ACC Kickoff.

I say that because ....

I just find it super-annoying when someone drops something cryptic and poorly-sourced on the boards, then doesn't circle back around to explain themselves, where they got the info, provide a link, etc. Nothing. Just "Marcell (sic) hurt?" Then crickets.

Always provide a link. Always.

For example, you're not reading "VT Sports Fan HQ" on Facebook, are you? πŸ˜‚

There are still people working there who (a) knew Brill and (b) care?

He retired from the RT 35 years ago. Or did it ruffle feathers for other reasons?

From CC: Brad Bell Brings Experience In Fundraising And Management To VT

After a long search that eventually whittled down to just a couple of candidates, Virginia Tech has announced the hiring of Brad Bell to run the Hokie Club. This marks the first time since 2019 that the Hokie Club has had a full-time director with a background in fundraising.

FYI, lots of bugginess on the site today.

Just found out that someone upstream of our provider cut a fiber optic line around noon yesterday. So that explains things. I'm getting lots of Bad Gateway errors, timeouts, etc. Hang in there, folks.

TSL Audio: Nick Brown on The Fast Lane, 6-29-2026

Tech Sideline Director of Media Nick Brown joined The Fast Lane on Monday, July 13 to discuss: What are Nick Brown’s top storylines to follow at 2026 ACC Kickoff? Will James Franklin feed or temper the likely excitement for the 2026 Hokies? Should we read anything into Virginia Tech not bringing QB Ethan Grunkemeyer to ACC Kickoff? Will the Hokies become the trendy ACC dark horse coming out of the ACC Kickoff?

The Lounge 2 w ago

I don't know what happened yesterday.

But we definitely took a step backwards yesterday. We were down for two hours, and since it was restored, it's been more difficult to access. Haven't had a chance to get the lowdown from John Donna yet. He's on travel this week.

It's not Cloudflare, it's TSL.

Cloudflare is fine. It's just telling you that TSL is crap.

He posted a picture of one of VT's female athletes.

It was a classic pre-graduation pic: cute short white dress, graduation sash, posed at a campus landmark, etc. People started making inappropriate comments, so poof-gone. Women get objectified on these boads all the time, because our website user base is over 90% male. But when that gets turned towards VT's athletes .... nope. Gotta go. BStreet didn't get nuked. His post did. ** Edited by Will Stewart at 7/13/2026, 10:55:10 PM

Beyond the Pail w/Bud Foster, Episode 6: Memorable Opposing Players

Presented by Lunch Pail Ventures: Virginia Tech faced a who’s-who of legendary opposing players in Bud Foster’s career. He talks about some of the best. (68 minutes). ** Edited by Will Stewart at 7/8/2026, 9:09:24 AM

It's in Buford Pusser's Wikipedia profile.

They exhumed Pauline's body, and the wounds aren't consistent with Buford's story. He said a car pulled up alongside and people in the car shot her, but her bullet wounds were close range, and her nose was broken before she was shot.

I just moved about 10 soccer threads over to the Lounge.

@HokieNL, I believe about 9 of them were yours. Please put non-football-related (off-topic), non-VT posts on the Lounge, not here.

Well, the new boards (if they ever get launched) ...

... will automatically convert up to 3 links per post into clickable links. You know ..... like every other form of social media has, for years.

TSL Audio: Chris Coleman on The Fast Lane, 6-29-2026

TechSideline.com lead analyst Chris Coleman joined The Fast Lane on Monday, June 29 to discuss: How committable were the 20-30 candidates Chris Coleman said (in his recent TSL article) were seriously considered for the Virginia Tech Hokies AD job? How challenging is the concept of venue naming rights for new AD Brian White? How aware are the Hokies that White can still generate additional creative revenue despite this hurdle? What’s the likelihood Virginia Tech replaces Cassell Coliseum? Is Virginia Tech more likely to have shorter tenured coaches than legacy builders (given the current college sports landscape)? Is the realistic football schedule model 9 ACC teams + 1 P4, 1G6 & 1 FCS? How likely are the Hokies to drop regionally irrelevant future football opponents (like Arizona & BYU) from future schedules?

Back when Frank was winning 10 games with that horrible offense ...

... we all complained about it. We saw the ceiling within reach, but we couldn't get to it through the glass. Then the floor fell through, and everything collapsed to the (3-9) basement. And that ceiling that was once visible through the glass was too far away to see. People warned us to enjoy the 10 wins. So, to your point ... I'd love to win ten again. THEN let's worry about whether he can win 11 or 12 or more. Good problem to have.
