Too soon to go back Not caring about soccer again with US out?
I'm still watching because Messi is fun, but have to admit, it's dialed down a huge notch with the US out. Thankfully, guys like Messi, the Viking dude from Norway, and Mbappe still give me barely enough interest to keep tuning in.
I'm no soccer guy, but I know enough to know this. France ain't losing. I guess Argentina and Spain have a chance, but I just don't see it. Their team is rolling and looks borderline unbeatable right now. I hope Messi and the bunch from the deep south win it.

I won't even give it a chance. Some say that I still hold a grudge for when
the "soccer beanies" completely swarmed over Madison Manor park in Arlington on weekends unannounced in 1971, along with all of the screaming families, lawn chairs, coolers...All day mayhem came to our personal neighborhood paradise, and all of our tackle football/stickball/whatever we could make up games, went by the wayside with nary a care from the invaders.
But that can't be it.

It had my interest (a little) while the US was still in it. But now that they have been knocked out, I could care less. I did enjoy seeing the Scots partying like it was 1999 along with the Vikings. Great stuff on social media too.

I would imagine they follow their local teams and I guess their country's professional soccer league, but I have no clue. We are bless in America with so much going on. A country like ....Ivory Coast, Romania, Senegal? Got to be tough I would imagine.

August for the season to begin again.
While Southern Hemi leagues are in full swing for the most part. Several of the South American leagues and the Mexican league does something rather unusual where they have 2 "seasons" within 1 season. The first season (or Fall Season) you play everyone once and a "champion" is crowned at the end. Then they take a 2-3 week break before starting the second season (or Spring Season). The Spring Season teams play the reverse fixture and a champion is crowned. Then they will have a playoffs where the 2 champions will face each other. If the same team is crowned champion for both seasons, then the second placed team gets to play in the championship game. One of the leagues, maybe the Mexican league?, has a 4-team playoffs where the top 2 teams for each season gets to participate in it.

those conditions was remarkable in high altitude paying against a rabid home team already acclimated. They also have a legitimate killer for a head coach in Tuchel. Pochettino on the other hand has a reputation as a big game loser and I still let my emotions override reality.

The Mexico watch party in Atlanta was at the Battery/Sports & Social on Sunday night. I was there. Me and 5,000 drunk Mexico fans. That was interesting.

she did a 2-week study abroad trip in Switzerland (from VT at the Steger Center) this summer. I told her she needed to go watch a Switzerland World Cup game in a bar in Switzerland and she absolutely loved the experience. So with the US out now, we are both Team Switzerland (even though they will likely be out on Sunday). As a dad who loves all sports, it has been cool to bond with her a bit over this. She goes to every VT home football game (and a couple of basketball games) but she doesn't really know the game. It is more of a social experience than a sporting event but at least she goes.
