If they are patient with Davis I think it will pay off but they may have

to be really patient. CMY knew he was a project coming in - hopefully he flashes enough to get some minutes but not enough to look for huge NIL money next year. Tough needle to thread.

I agree with that but that is going forward. Right now there are ...

legitimately 20+ teams that simply can't compete with the Dodgers financially, and to their credit, the Dodgers know this and are buying championships. You can make the case that NO other franchises can compete with the Yankees - pretty much every big name free agent the Dodgers wanted they have been able to outbid everyone. The playing field (under the current agreement) is absolutely not level and there are enough teams (even bigger market teams) that recognize this and won't buckle. The players don't want a salary cap and are adamant about it. Has the makings of a very long lockout.

I am assuming that we do but don't know for sure yet. I just put the ...

deposit on it and likely will take delivery in September after we move in to the new house. Despite what @Stork seems to think, these LSV (low speed vehicles) are insanely popular down here so they are back-ordered 4-6 weeks for some models and 8-10 weeks for some others. For me it is a great lifestyle addition - can literally use a 6-seater golf cart as my primary means of transportation for anything within 5-10 miles of my house. And I guess I am saving the planet at the same time. Win-win, right? I will be getting it insured but the dealer handles all the tags, registration, etc and deliver it with temporary tags on it.

Well, you'll get plenty of time not to watch baseball next spring ...

thanks to the Dodgers. I don't blame them, but the Dodgers have singularly broken the game and everyone knows it. The players love it, the owners hate it and hence there will be a long, ugly lockout. So enjoy the next 3 months because I seriously doubt the 2027 season starts anywhere near on time.

She didn't yet need an extension. It is a show of faith from the new AD ..

and shows a commitment to her program. Only way it was a bad idea is if she doesn't continue to show growth in WBB. A serious extension can come in 2-3 years.

You'd crap yourself if you knew what I just paid for my new golf cart ...

and I won't post the number here ... but it was more than that riding mower. However, it is street legal, will be registered in the state with a license plate, and has a VIN. Also has power steering and a backup camera and will likely never actually be on a golf course.

Builder was Winchester and the gaps were definitely not visible. The leak

was above a bay window so the fix was always to add more sealant around the bay window where they suspected the leak was. Then we good get another sideways rain and it would leak again. Roofer came and sealed the brick and said it would be good for 5-7 years. We sold the house after 3. :)

My last claim was due to a massive leak that happened on a Friday evening

during a torrential downpour. I called immediately while my wife took pictures and video to upload with the claim. I literally couldn't talk to a human until mid-morning on Monday. It continued to rain all weekend and I spent three days emptying a 5-gallon bucket every few hours, including the middle of the night. I was finally able to get a tarp over it Sunday afternoon when the wind and rain slowed a bit. Took them another 2 days to get someone out to put in a better temporary solution and the permanent fix was an even bigger mess. The claim before that went dormant for 42 days despite at least a dozen calls and messages I left for them. They are absolutely awful now.

After 38 years with USAA I am about to be out except for life insurance and

a small personal property policy. Their customer service that used to be awesome is now pretty awful. My last three claim experiences with them have been a nightmare. In Charleston I am going with a local insurance agent that is replacing all of my policies with better coverage at the same price as USAA. And I can actually get personal service from a local who knows the area. Even 5 years ago I thought I would never make this move and now I am pretty excited about it. A steep fall from grace from a once great company.

My in-laws live in Lag-o-mar which is about 5-10 minutes from Sandbridge ..

spent a lot of time at that beach and far prefer it to the strip. Better people-watching at the strip but that is the only advantage

When we sold our house in Virginia the buyers did a non-contingent ...

inspection just for awareness. They did not have the ability to back out due to the results.

The Lounge 1 w ago

The inspector said the same thing. It was rainy and extremely humid this

morning, the crawl space was just treated, etc. Moisture levels were at a peak. He didn't see anything unusual and said that it was in really good condition so hopefully the dehumidifier will do the trick.

The Lounge 1 w ago

They have been great and took really good care of the house ...

They just put $14k work into the crawl space to replace vents, moisture barriers, etc. Inspector says it is in great shape but the moisture levels are slightly elevated. Generally you don't encapsulate without a dehumidifier so that is why he made the recommendation. I think the sellers may actually pay for it as well.

I know someone down here who bought a 50+ year-old home with no inspection

Absolutely (certifiably) insane. This one, unlike many I have had in the past, makes me feel really good about the house so even that was worth the money. That said, fingers are crossed because the sewer inspection guy was arriving as I left.

The Lounge 1 w ago

@PhotoHokieNC - just completed the inspection on the 'next' house I

have a contract on and it was remarkably pretty clean, especially for a house built in 1977. Crawl space looked great but is fully encapsulated without a dehumidifier so the moisture levels were a little high. Easy fix. No other significant issues with anything. After my last one that had roughly $60k worth of required fixes and resulted in us backing out of the contract I no longer hate inspectors. You and your ilk are no longer dead to me.

Could have been this as well ...

First olympics with a reunified Germany in decades. Katarina repped quite well.

My daughter (who has NEVER liked sports) has been watching with me because

she did a 2-week study abroad trip in Switzerland (from VT at the Steger Center) this summer. I told her she needed to go watch a Switzerland World Cup game in a bar in Switzerland and she absolutely loved the experience. So with the US out now, we are both Team Switzerland (even though they will likely be out on Sunday). As a dad who loves all sports, it has been cool to bond with her a bit over this. She goes to every VT home football game (and a couple of basketball games) but she doesn't really know the game. It is more of a social experience than a sporting event but at least she goes. Go Switzerland!

I'm guessing he is either a D-league guy or maybe he goes to Europe for a

couple of years to continue to develop. He has NBA athleticism but definitely not NBA skill. Mavs will hold his rights to see if he can refine his skills to have an NBA profile off the bench. I don't think he'll ever shoot well enough to be a regular rotational NBA player but there are other parts of his game he can improve to maybe carve a role.

Qandace Samuels would be icing on the cake and likely give us our highest

rated class ever. Not sure how realistic that is but she visited and apparently enjoyed her visit.

Dude is not human. The ref that took the Egypt goal away is quite human

But I'm not sure it would have mattered. If Messi needed to score 3 he would have found a way.
