Had a purpose once upon a time...we are on the cusp of another societal great turning to a technocratic dictatorship and I doubt 1% of the kids being recruited give a squat about these political concerns. They want their payola now and exposure to the biggest audiences on TV.

If so, I doubt agents will instruct their players to avoid all of those great programs, forgoing all that money, to come to Virginia. Besides, VA already did what LA is planning in 2016 (when the VA courts divided VA #3). So, shouldn't we also be on that list until we put it back together?

But who knows with the really elite kids where everyone is throwing piles of money at them. Maybe the naacp says it is okay to take Georgia ( or VTs) money because those states haven't done what Louisana or Mississippi are doing. Could it effect a kids decision?

Last I checked they were in Florida and Tennessee respectively. GT is in Georgia not listed. And UCF and USF are also in a named state and play at sports.

I am amazed that advocacy groups for African Americans havent been already trying this tactic for the past 50 years . I mean if you want to really get the attention of politicians in the deep south states, threaten something that could negatively effect their flagship university's football programs. As to the recruiting effect - IMO none in the short term as it would take time to get any real attention- but it is something to watch going forward to see if it gathers any traction in the media

The reality is the over whelming majority of players really don't want to be activists in this way. A few may speak up on causes that are important to them or wear a t-shirt for something. But nobody is going to not choose the best college for them based on a state's politics. Race stuff is always touchy. I can remember when James Franklin used to mention that he wanted to be the first black coach to win a national championship, I believe he still does say that. Him saying that did rub some people the wrong way when top VA kids started heading to PSU. They thought it was the actual reason he recruited so well. Like some of us literally thought it was his final pitch to seal the deal. However, recruits don't play for him because he is black. They play for James Franklin, because he is James Franklin. I think we can all see that now. Kids are going to go wherever they feel is best for them. While they may have opinions on political matters, they don't prioritize it high enough to factor that in when making a major life decision.

Now those statements didn't necessarily involve deciding which school to attend because of a state's position on an issue. Unless you are talking about integration and how quickly schools were willing to integrate. Then number of examples become a lot more because the northern schools and CA schools were willing to integrate more quickly than the Southern schools.
