The Sun Belt was really good about getting them into a proper FBS schedule right away. Both years JMU played enough FBS teams, etc. But the NCAA denied their waiver (at least in year two) even though they were obviously ready. My how times have changed in just three years. The NCAA apparently gave out three waivers!

We play in California, Texas, Florida and Massachusetts next year.

Missouri State and Delaware are in their first year in the FBS. Aren't they both ineligible? And Kennesaw State is in their second year. JMU had to wait until their third year to be allowed to go to a bowl game. I guess all of the opt outs allowed that?

I would guess one of those that are complaining about the B10 venture capital push, Michigan or USC. Either are probably arrogant enough to think life outside a conference might be better for them, even when the conference is the Big Ten.

Any time a team wins this a few times, the top group will steal them away just to maintain the imbalance. The P2 would keep taking the top teams from us every so often. Maybe the money could go to the groups and be doled out over a long time, like the NCAA BB tourney, so defector money stays behind.

A few million a year, I guess for each school if that. Could it be that much? They seem replaceable to me, but the way I see it, we are both getting the same thing from each other, consistent access to big games. We provide them with FSU, Clemson, Miami and a few more from time to time that end up as big games for them, and they provide ND to play our teams in exchange. If we cancel that, then we are just competing against each other to get big OOC games on our schedules. Not great for either. For us, we just get put into the same boat as the B12 in that respect.

Those teams will not be very flexible, IMO. I believe few of them will play ND late at least, leaving ND with only lower teams near the end of each season.

I'd even be OK with the ACC including ND in the championship. ND could call it whatever they want to sell it to their alumni. They would have to give up something pretty big to make that happen, of course, too, like adding one more game to the mix, playing six every year. That way, we could count the ND games times 1.5 to make it match. I think we could get a lot more money from ESPN to make it worth it, and that could really separate the ACC from the B12.

I think the committee was embarrassed by ND's loss to Miami and otherwise almost identical stats between the two, but just barely enough to make the switch.

Time to be pragmatic. We should be trying to get the most teams into the CFP, so we should use their criteria.

BYU booster owns that company and he is ponying up to keep their coach from be hired away by PSU. If he stays then PSU might be stuck with real crumbs for a coach. I assume there are several good players at PSU that are waiting to hear who their new coach will be before deciding to transfer.

The field should be this in that case. OSU Georgia Indiana Texas Tech #5 Oregon #6 Ole Miss #7 Texas A&M #8 OK #9 ND #10 Miami #11 UVa #12 North Texas or JMU I doubt UVa would jump over Miami. Also, I assume Alabama would drop out, but maybe not. UVa might be #10, in that case.

That will probably happen, though, IMO, so Miami might be closer then we think.

If Duke wins, we need JMU to lose. And maybe UNLV, too? If JMU or UNLV win, they should be ahead of Duke as the 12th team. Otherwise, Miami could still get in, if Alabama and BYU both lose. Fletcher Westphal OL from Leesburg, VA, currently at Florida. Maybe the SEC is not looking so great to him anymore, and he would like playing at VT under Franklin. During his recruitment, he only had a few SEC blue bloods on his list, plus Clemson.

Also, for the AP, CFP, and the other computer models. It would be nice to have some data backing up our suspicions of SEC, B10 and ND bias.

There were a bunch of loud UVa kids yelling insults about VT in there (What the h%#$ is a Hokie? A Hokie is a %$#@ chicken! and so on). They were having a great time. It was sweet to be back on the hill a few minutes later watching the best 4th quarter comeback ever, thinking about how their day was going.

A ND deal for Texas, too, back then would have been great for the ACC and Texas. Plus, they could even play each other in a big game. Michigan is another one that could pull this off. However, if I were the B10, I'd be more afraid of USC and Michigan joining the SEC, bringing along Ohio State and Penn State.

Spend a day walking in and out of the admin building and telling people he is just there on vacation.

I suppose he will get a big boost this off season, however. But still I would think something like Pry's contract would be enough to get him.

Didn't we go to six or seven new years days bowls in the 12 or so years after that, ranked in the top 10 during a lot of that time? Also, he assumes the path to the playoffs is easier in the ACC than the B10 "because the ACC is so weak", ignoring the CFP trend to obviously favor the B10 and SEC. PSU might have a tough time winning the B10, but getting into the playoffs is easier for them than for ACC non champs, see Miami last year. IMO PSU fans generally know nothing about us and assume PSU has always been better than us. Their opinion on what would be good for us is worthless.

They were looking at appliances. I did a double take when they passed me. Definitely him, so keep your eyes peeled.

We should be able to get him for Pry money and a four year contract, a huge $ gain for him, with some massive performance bonuses, and lots of money left for high quality staff. Chesney has won big everywhere he has gone, and we need knock JMU down a peg anyway.

The only things that are certain are death and taxes, and student fees.

Thanks for reminding me that they play Miami next. I've been ignoring them so far.

The ACC could bring them into a scheduling agreement and put their home games onto the ACCN. Maybe there is a way to get us and them some more money that way? UConn home games on the ACCN might be worth something to ESPN, especially if they host a couple of ACC teams each year. They host Duke this year, and play Syracuse and BC. Heck, isn't ESPN from Hartford? Maybe they like the idea of throwing a bone to UConn?

We could do it over BC's, too, if need be.

VMI warms up for ODU, who warms up for Maryland (who warms up for JMU!) For the record, I think we should try to engineer wins with our non-conferences games as much as possible. First games should be no higher than a low-range G6 Second game should be no higher than a mid-range G6 Third game should be a lower half P2 or a B12 team at the highest (I know the B12 has some great teams). Then ACC schedule Then another max mid-range G6 around week nine. Then the rest of the ACC schedule Nothing helps you more than wins, IMO. We should never schedule a team we will probably lose to, especially a neutral game that is closer to the other team's stadium. Our 2026 schedule is almost perfect, IMO. We should avoid the neutral, Alabama in Atlanta type games. They are traps, IMO. Look at Ole Miss this year, for another near perfect one. They mix theirs up a bit more, GSU, Tulane, Wash State, with some SEC in between, and then the Citadel in week 10, to give themselves a rest for the final two SEC games. They get a chef's kiss. No blockbuster one off preseason neutral games against Michigan in Detroit on that schedule.

That is, confs could divide into two or more scheduling groups, reranked by performance (either by record or by some sort of power ranking) after each year. Teams get significantly less money as they go down into the lesser groups. You don't need to kick anyone out. Just let them settle into the bottom group. For the ACC, how about this? Three groups; six, six, and five teams. Each group has to play four others in it's group, and draw as evenly as possible from the other two. It will be an interesting day when the SEC offers membership to Michigan, PSU and Ohio State (and Notre Dame).
