Hope VA politicians give the same effort for VT as the LA governor for LSU
Doesn't matter your politics, LA governor's involvement with LSU athletics shows you that the words and actions of state politicians make all the difference. Virginia politicians should learn from him and realize that it is in the Commonwealth's best interest for the Hokies to be in the P2 and do everything in their power to make sure it happens. ** Edited by Athens at 10/31/2025, 12:15:30 AM

Good grief. The *Commonwealth's* health has about Blutarsky
to do with football or P2. But go ahead and tell us about the *health* of LA...successful football in the SEC for a long time...must be a really healthy state overall.

LSU's $53M buyout for Kelly will be paid by taxpayers, says Gov. Jeff...
Millions of people live paycheck to paycheck, but hey, we need to get politicians involved into the NCAAF arms race where even a few more privileged individuals can make ludicrous amounts of money. Funds don't come from nowhere - someone pays it. Politicians should stay out of it unless the intent is to "conserve funds".

FWIW some states have laws where taxpayers' dollars can be used to fund
collegiate athletic capital projects and other similar type expenses. LA and OH are 2 states with these types of laws on the books. People have made the argument that the laws can give the schools a "competitive advantage" because it makes available additional resources that may not be available to schools in states like VA.

Really? I think it's pretty embarrassing for the state of LA and LSU.
It's a really goofy ass look; that governor is like a cartoon character. If I worked for LSU athletics, I'd want to hide under a rock.

I want VA politicians that focus on academics and have the dignity
to stay in their lane. Focus on what the government is supposed to do.

Nobody focuses ....
on what the government is supposed to do, particularly those in government. The only ones focusing on what government is supposed to do are those running for office who generally develop a severe case of amnesia the day after their election.

We would be in the AAC right now, if this advice had been taken in 2003.
The state government was very involved back then. I don't want dignity or staying in lanes. I want results.

Come on, that's not true. 50% chance we'd still be ACC. 40% B12, 10% SEC
In no universe would we have gotten passed up multiple times over the past 20+ years and be stuck in the AAC. The most likely scenario by far is that we would have just gotten picked up by the ACC a few years later...just like the majority of the old Big East.

Yeah, at worst VT waits a couple of more years.

Louisiana is a different culture. The politicians in
places like Alabama, Louisiana, and other States have virtually their entire voting base following the college football teams. They don't have a choice if they want to hold office. Sad, but academics and dignity have been put to the side with FBS, and maybe it's always been like that and they pretended it was about academics, but no one is pretending anymore. This is about money, football, and being #1.

Sure hope Virginia can get itself a governor that
can make us 49th or 50th in the nation in poverty, public education, healthcare, environmental issues and corruption (okay, not ranked but if it were) like Louisiana .

He is grandstanding. He gathered a group at his mansion on Sunday
and ultimately signed off on firing Kelly. The LSU AD should also be fired, but the governor didn't have to allow the Kelly firing from what it looks like. The next coach will have a similar contract, and Landry will bend over and take it, despite what he is saying in public. This guy is nothing more than a blowhard. Like most politicians. ** Edited by reestuart at 10/31/2025, 10:13:02 AM
