ND/USC series dead, ND/BYU schedule home/home
The two schools were close to an extension but talks fell apart late. USC is not on any future ND schedules. They will try to renew the series in 2030.

That used to be a highlight game of every CFB season.

Growing up an ND fan as a kid, that is sad to me. Oklahoma Nebraska, VT WVU
Penn State Pitt etc. Please bring them back in late August and let every school play! Please end the Opt Out Bowls and expand the playoff. Please end the Conference Championship play out games and let Army Navy play that weekend instead. My Dad used to say to my brothers and I after we made a lame excuse for doing something dumb. You know, nobody can be that dumb!!! I refuse to believe that you are that dumb!!! Please stop acting like it! So my answer to the people in charge of all of this, I really can't believe you are that dumb, so can you please stop acting like it. :-)

As long as fans continue watching, nothing will change.
If fans want the stupidity to stop, they have to stop rewarding the decision makers for making terrible decisions.

Provo is a much nicer place to visit than LA
And South Bend, for that matter. Notre Dame can always persuade Navy to play on the west coast.

There seems to be very little " traditional" left about ND's schedule
I may get the financial case for ND remaining independent but the emotional/traditional case for being so seems pretty diminished to me. I guess there is still the calculation that they have a better path to a now extended playoff - but this year proved it can work both ways. And although I get that full ACC football is not attractive to most ND fans, I'd suspect full B1G football schedule would on average be ultimately preferable to the type of schedule being generated at present. I have to think the resistance to a (non-acc) conference membership is lessening over time, despite the declarations from the AD and some ND super fans.

ND plays plenty of traditional rivals.
It's just that the yearly tradition is now five or so games in the ACC.

Plus everyone plays a national schedule now.
We play in California, Texas, Florida and Massachusetts next year.

Good point.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with ND winning 7 of last 8 & 8 of last 10
USC needs wins to help boost their program back up. And they were not getting them against ND. Every team out for themselves.

And 10 of the last 12....
USC backed out at the last minute.

Perhaps they can meet in a future Pop Tarts bowl?
