Just read a recent article saying he will announce on 12.3 25 and it's
between Oklahoma, Indiana and Old Miss. Although a recent article it could be old news now!

I am betting we sold him on playing early in addition to Franklin
He can see what Overton is doing as true freshman, and we won't have Stewart next year. So it's not unrealistic for him to share carries with Hawkins and Overton next year. If we improve our offensive line our rushing attack could be nasty next year. Also, Oklahoma signed another four star RB recently that's slightly higher rated than Mickens. I don't think we're pursuing any other RBs.

Hopefully he was sold on VT upgrading the OL as well
That's what I need to see.

I think there have been some successful coaches who have used their better
RB as the #2 when they have had a 2-head monster. The thinking is that the #2 RB wears down the defense on a drive. Then when the better RB comes in to relieve, he can better take advantage of their fatigue than the #2 RB could if the roles were reversed.

The only think I'll be sure of is if he arrives...
VT will have at least three very capable RBs.

The early 2000s Auburn teams come to mind when Cadillac Williams and
Ronnie Brown shared the backfield. Then it was Ronnie Brown and Brad Lester/Kenny Irons. The "better" RB seemed to be whichever one was coming in to relieve that game. I'm pretty sure VT implemented a similar strategy when Suggs and Jones were on the roster together. Suggs would be named the "starter" for a game even though most people thought Jones was the "better" overall RB.

I don't think VT can pay the NIL for all 3, maybe just 2.
I think several teams will inquire into Hawkins and Overton with nice NIL deals. VT will probably pay just one of the two and the other being an incoming 4 star running back from Virginia

Steve Wiltfong has him going choosing Oklahoma, BUT not so fast...
….looking a little farther, 247 has 2 predictions for VT. Sure, I thought, rookies Amber and Kolby. Nope, it's the sage ones Brian Dohn and Evan Watkins who rarely take anything but a lock. I think Mickens was quoted as saying “I’ll go wherever Franklin ends up.” Looks like he’s really ‘in play.’ ** Edited by V333T at 11/25/2025, 6:35:17 AM ** Edited by V333T at 11/25/2025, 7:25:39 AM
