Notre Lame should not have been in playoffs
That's what I say. If they don't like what happened then join a conference. What happened to undefeated FSU was much worse.

disagry, They beat Oklahoma. They played a good team.
quite probably the champ. The more I see of their (IU's) coach, the more I'm impressed. A saban protoge? ** Edited by Riverguy at 1/2/2026, 5:51:41 PM

They were struggling down the stretch. ND should have gotten the spot.

Vandy over ND

5 SEC teams should not be in the 12 team playoffs. 4 should be the max any
conference.

I think we will eventually see this. The bye team performance sucks so far.

I agree. Not just because of the blowout to IU either.

Should have been ND, who lost to #10 Miami by 3 and #7 A&M by 1.Runnerup 24

If ACC had been smart and put Miami in title game
then UM probably would have won and gotten an automatic bid. Which would have knocked out JMU and allowed ND to get in. Or if UVA had beaten Miami, then Miami likely out and JMU out, with UVA and ND in. Alabama was never really at risk of being left out (thanks to the ACC tiebreaker stupidity). But if it really came down to Bama, ND, and Miami, then yes I think Bama should have been left out.

Agreed that Bama wasn't goin to be left out but
Agreed that Bama wasn't going to be left out. But, it was regardless of how the ACC played our anything else, really, at that point. They had them in the second the SEC Championship game was over, if not before. How many time did we hear "Bama has the greatest 8 game win streak of all time" leading up to the selection? Who could possibly leave out a team with such a "historic streak"?

If UVa had just beat Duke, we would have both UVa and Miami in and ND out.
I also don't believe the CFP committee is rigged, and the tooth fairy, santa claus, etc.

In. SEC schedule plus multiple wins vs top 20 teams plus beating OU.
Indiana is the REAL DEAL

I had them OUT and ND IN.
And I know they beat OU. But not deserving to be in and winning a first round game are two different things.

I’m ok with them in especially after beating OU
Tulane and JMU both getting in is problematic though. That said Vandy didn’t really prove itself worthy losing its bowl game with pretty much all their key players available. BYU struggled with Pitt. Barring a complete overhaul of the system to limit the number of teams that can compete for the playoffs (132 FBS teams is unworkable yet legally necessary) we will continue to have the same lack of competitive games. It’s unavoidable.

They did win a 1st round game ....
Who do you put in instead? Notre Dame? TBH Bama's resume at least had some quality wins... ND biggest win was USC? ** Edited by MaryWashGrad at 1/2/2026, 11:25:16 AM
