Here is the only way to make soccer watchable
5 balls on the field at the same time. Like that pinball game that used to send out extra balls into play.
Otherwise it's just a bunch of guys running around on a field in their underwear hoping they don't step in something.

Reminds me of the 86 MLB World Series
Red Sox won the first 2 games over the Mets in NYC. Their manager decides to start journeyman Al Nipper in game 5 instead of slamming the door on them. He lost. And the daylight the Mets got from that resulted in the first time, ever, a team had won the first 2 on the road in a WS and lost the series.

Frankly, getting a bid at all was surprising to me
Looking at some of the teams we lost to, some in embarrassing fashion, the 2 seed was a setup to the heads of the players and now reality is here.

Actually, you pass over the James in Glen Wilton going NE on 220
After passing through Gala about 7 miles south on 220. If the James is the line (and streams often are) then it is technically in another county.
Wikipedia says she lived in Eagle Rock. That puts her about 7 miles from James River HS on Rt 43.

Wiki says Eagle Rock. Iron Gate is not in Botetourt County
Iron Gate is a little bigger (emphasis on little) and may have had a little more job opportunity. Her dad may have worked there. People who live in Iron Gate go to Allegheny HS not James River according to the internet. Iron Gate is in Allegheny county not Botetourt and James River HS is in another county.

I don't believe she was ever on full scholarship either
Partial was the best she could get out of VT.
We could have won it all if we had just had some hitters that were decent in those days. She probably set a record for most wins with the least run support.

Tincher was not from the Roanoke Valley
She attended James River HS near Buchanan. Believe they lived in Eagle Rock which is James River valley.

The same exact pitch he called us out on in the 7th was the one that walked
in a run for U of V. Exact same location. Against us it was a strike and for them it saved the embarrassment of a home shutout.
This was a very winnable game for U of V. They had some key LOB times and were swinging at pitches that were not in the strike zone. It was a mistake for them to pull their starter and I thought so at the time.
ACCN shows 3 of the 4 teams moving their sticker up in the bracket. The one they don't show....., VT

That was a very close series. But we lost to Duke.
Hard to know who to root for. But, let's not look past U of V, playing on the home field and we had a close series with them too.
As I watched Stanford, I know that would be tough, some of the batting averages of the FSU players were stratosphere type stuff.
This is a very tough tournament. Survive and advance is what the great Jimmy V would say,

Like we squeaked by UNC. A win is a win
FSU swept GT in Atlanta. I stand by that statement.
We lost 2 of 3 to GT at home. GT was labeled pesky. But FSU swept them.
Good teams do what they have to do to win games they should win.

I agree but we are not at home on this one
And, GT didn't beat us. The write up called them pesky but FSU had no problem sweeping them in Atlanta. WE beat us. We can still do the same tomorrow and Sunday.
Didn't we lose a series to them when they were pretty bad a year or 2 ago? And run ruled them in one of the games and outscored them with total runs but lost the series?
