Of course you don't want to lose *any* games...you also know you're almost certainly going to have to beat the overall #1 at some point...maybe beat them twice...you can't afford to lose there either.
Maybe it wasn't even the approach. We'll see.

and Renfrow might have never seen UCLA
If VT lost to Cal Poly and then lost in the elimination bracket...... we would never have faced UCLA with Renfro.

Seems more likely he is unavailable and Szefc is going a bit overboard on the deception angle but who knows. If available I would throw my best in game 1.
