I also understand that carrying a large debt to a bookie can gently encourage someone to influence their own game without betting on the specific game themselves, so no lesson needed there, thanks. His bets appeared to be through online services though, so again, rant not relevant. There was no "they". If some of them have big years or show out at some of the showcase events and get a ratings boost, it could anchor VT in the back end of the Top 10.

But right now, with Grunk, Huhn, Bourque (potentially) and Baker, there's 4 guys that seemingly don't have an part of their game to hide, or cover up. I know we'll lose at least 2 when it all shakes out, but these are a different level of QB skill that VT hasn't had much over the past decade+.

I don't think we had that much over the last 10+` years.

I agree, expectations should be Top 25 on average with some popping into the teens with Franklin.

Also true and accurate. He didn't call out any poster and technically not even this board. I don't know if there's a history with past posts, but it seems this one may have been taken personally. There are many boards that do have posters that seem to act like that. Not everyone or even the majority, but they're certainly out there. This environment has many layers and people have differing opinions on them, some do blame the athletes "greed". I tend to think more along the lines of your post in that the vast majority of the blame belongs to the institutions (schools, NCAA, agents, boosters, etc). My support is to VT and the teams and not on which players are here year to year. But I definitely understand those that may like to have those connections to individual players and base their support on that.

But, you can't allow them to vote and then punish them for how they vote.

but I'm started to lose faith in him now. Everyone just sprinted to the three point and stood still. It was a 1 point game, you gotta have someone inside on opposite side of paint to at least have an opportunity for a put back after the shot. The spacing was bad and the only reason Schutt was open bc his defender was indecisive on whether to help on ball or get out to his man in the corner. Ben was already out of control from the foul/defense and on his way to the ground. Pass to the corner was the right play at that point, but I don't think he was able to see it or to control the ball enough to make the pass. I didn't see anything that looked like a well structured play and it seems like we see that more often than not in high pressure or end of game situations.

Maybe they'd have a chance with a loss to UNC OR UVA and 2 or more ACC tourney wins. And I think at least one of those wins need to be Q1 team.

with regard to top level football(Power 5, or what it turns into). NCAA has no power and isn't going to push this to the Supreme Court which would just hasten the Power 5, 2 or even 1 creating their own thing, which is coming eventually anyway. The only time time the NCAA could have (tried) to have some position in the future of Top Level college football would have been when this whole NIL, player pay, college agents, etc. was first being thought of. I don't even know if they could have then, but they basically sat back and said "ok, you guys figure this out".

But, if the goal is a long term competitive environment (not sure that's everyone's goal here) across regions/conferences/teams, I think the only way that this can be sustainable and allow more than a handful of teams/conferences to truly be competitive over time is to have some sort of player payment cap and have some sort of standard player contracts. Teams can divvy it up however they want, but each can spend up to $XXXX each season. I'd like to see the same sort of cap for coaching staffs as well.

He didn't have a signed deal in place with Tulane and then back out of it just before the window closed (there was still the 2nd, spring window back then), which was the main sticking point to this situation. But, I mean unless the player/agent or school admit there was contact prior to the portal, no one really knows for sure. Buuut, we all know for sure that it happens all of the time.

I think back in the day they actually did it and that's where the old 3 yards and a cloud of dust reputation that the BIG10 (midwestern schools in general) had before started. Now we see most of the really good BIG10 teams are built much like the other good/great teams in any other region in recent years...speed, spread O, RPOs, quick screens, huge WRs etc. Teams still run the ball, but few just line up in the I, option or wishbone. But Ann Arbor, Columbus, Madison, Lansing, Iowa City, Lincoln, Twin Cities and Chicago, in general, probably all experience worse winter weather that Rutgers/Maryland or Pitt/Boston.
