The "article" is from Basic Blue Nation and is full of rumors, heresay and unnamed sources. Your author is a blogger from Georgia. No different than if you had written it, and it'd likely be similar in tone. Penn State fans hate Franklin right now and rabid fans love to hear about everything being the last guys fault because it let's them feel like they'll be top of the world again now that he's gone. So that's why hit piece blogs get written, for clicks. I'll give you this, your "we should sue JF" comment is one of the funniest things I've read recently, if only you weren't serious. "It takes money and not loyalty. Bring in fresh talent just like the NFL". That is exactly what Franklin has done since he's been here. It's clear you have some kind of ax to grind, but that's on you to deal with.

Not sure what Duke wants out of this...

Force Mensah to come back? He can make all of his appearances, commercials, etc. make his NIL money and be a disgruntled member of the team that can basically hold them hostage. It also is going to cause future portal players to think twice about going to a school that won't let them transfer for better opportunities as they arise. The school's are in a no-win situation in these circumstances. Now, if they want to be the school that's going to take this all the way and try to break this current Portal/NIL environment and get something a little more regulated, I'm on board with that. Just don't believe they can do it.

Correct. And what do they want? Him to come back?

Correct. And what do they want? Him to come back and force him to play/pay him to sit? Both would be disastrous for the program. Or are they hoping to get a financial penalty from him?

I mean he got several recruits to follow him here this year and...

I mean, he got several recruits to follow him here this year and a lot of the portal guys he's getting from PSU are pretty young. So, I'd say they are following him. Now, I get that some of the very highly ranked 2027 decommits will get pursued again by the top programs and that will be more of the competition than players wanting to go to Penn State because they're Penn State, in my opinion. I don't think the Penn State "brand" is as enticing to recruits these days. At least not nearly as desirable as their fans seem to think it is.

Free throws? I know they missed a couple late. But...

87% on 31 attempts is pretty damn good. Neo was 1-3, only 3 attempts is a whole other problem. But 4 guys were perfect and the others were 3-4 & 5-6.

That was a horrible 24 hours for Chambliss. If they don't win appeal...

He's going to lose the ability to make a Heisman run, endorsement options (that big T Mobile $$, or AT&T?) millions in NIL and likely millions (if not tens of millions) in NFL draft position.

He's already re-upped at Ole Miss and I'd imagine it was about as good

He's already re-upped at Ole Miss and I'd imagine it was about as good of a deal as it gets for a kicker because apparently LaneSU went after him hard trying to bring Carneiro over with him and he chose to stay at Ole Miss. I just realized what a horrible nickname for a kicker that would be. "...and out comes Ole Miss to try the FG..."

The schools really have no recourse in these situations.

They can't force the kid to play, or even attend school. The only thing I've seen is that the agreement said that any buyout is at the discretion of Washington. But again, if the buyout isn't enforceable, what are they going to do? I think we may see a new way of setting these agreements up to try to make them enforceable, but not sure how.

That brings a whole new set of questions...

These are just rhetorical questions so this doesn't get political: Can the Church itself provide NIL $$? Would it violate tax exempt status? Obviously a little different situation, but I'd guess ND would like some NIL from the church as well. The branches and consequences of this whole new way of doing the business of college football keep increasing and increasing...

Agreed that Bama wasn't goin to be left out but

Agreed that Bama wasn't going to be left out. But, it was regardless of how the ACC played our anything else, really, at that point. They had them in the second the SEC Championship game was over, if not before. How many time did we hear "Bama has the greatest 8 game win streak of all time" leading up to the selection? Who could possibly leave out a team with such a "historic streak"?

Yes, very similar to regular season.

They'll always start with a legit core of 2-4 National Champ contenders. But the 10-25 spot get loaded up with most of the rest of the SEC. At that point they consider every win a great win and every loss a very good loss (barring crazy outliers on either way). If one losses enough to fall out another fills it rick back.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the rules are the same...

But big money donors are much less likely to donate to a diving team then they are a football program. Title IX can't force a private donor to give their money somewhere they don't want to. I think it gets around Title IX and other laws because every athlete is capable of receiving NIL money. It all depends on if donors think that any one athlete's name/image is worth their money. I agree with your second point in your prior post. This is going down a road that I don't think anyone knows where it ends up. The system could crash back down to 30 years ago, it could turn into a semi-pro, or farm league type, or even separate completely and have some of these teams be professional teams that are just "associated" with a school. It's definitely crazy and it's not going to stop for a while.

I know we don't have an answer at QB yet...

But, I'm hoping we can move past needing to take a gamble or a flyer on a one year QB from Mercer, unless we can't fill the QB depth chart with better QBs. People point to Cam Ward or one of the others that made the jump and played great. They are one in a thousand. Percentages are numbers, not labels. The "be better" thing is pompous sounding and played out. Everyone doesn't have to think the same.

They've always been treated differently than regular students

This era of NIL didn't change that. They've always been able to skate on grades, gotten easier classes and had staff to help them with classes. None of that is new. But now that they get to make money, everyone thinks it's some unchartered territory.

They sure did, but not without the refs trying.

That late flop by the QB that gave A&M a big first was blatant. I still don't know what made them stop the clock on the catch a few plays earlier. Dude got tackled in bounds, looked to land flat in bounds and then rolled out. I must've missed something obvious on that one bc it didn't look like Miami was arguing it.

I love that when they finally got the W

I love that when they finally got the W, our fans were already excited and looking forward to next year with Franklin ('s recruits). I don't know if they've just been resigned to losing, they didn't realize that they won or were too mad that VT is putting a program back together. But I have not heard a word, text or comment from any UVA fans for this one.

C'mon. You know exactly why Tech won 10 games all of those years.

Other than a few Superstar Talents, it wasn't b/c of the offensive schemes, play calls--definitely not the OC.

I believe they have already made the change to prevent ND getting snubbed

Just not in time for this year. I think next year the rules change and ND will automatically get in if they are ranked in the final Top 12.

I could see that. Hard to be humble with all of the hype

I could see that. If it's not already in his nature, I'm sure it's hard to be humble with all of the hype and having a savior complex for a traditionally bad program with little interest, probably even on campus. I kind of see him as one of those Great college players that are winners, but I don't see him doing much in the pros. Looks like he's not in most position draft ranking Top 10s, but you never know.

If Franklin is bringing Pry back,

It's because he has confidence in him as his DC. He's not being brought in as a stop gap. Franklin's building this program the way he thinks will be most successful and what he's comfortable with long term. I think it's be nuts to bring someone back like this as a temporary solution. The only issue I could see with bringing Pry back is that he kind of lost this team, players remember that and it can be a respect issue. On the other hand, this will pretty much be a new team moving forward.

They're also generally smart w/ their money

They're also generally smart w/ their money and rarely make large investments in something that will provide little to no return.

For Penn State? I don't know.

I feel like they'll end up grabbing a major program coordinator, a recognizable name. But I'm not smart enough to figure out who.

I don't think we look at it that way.

What I'd want to see is what program is in the best position compared to where they are now. Just my opinion, but I can't see Penn State being satisfied with Chesney, at this point in time. Not a big enough name to satisfy big donors and no proven track record.

No

We just don't have the dudes on D that we were used to. That's it.

Cute, personal attacks without know what you're talking about.

And, if you see arrogance in my comment, either you don't know the meaning or just can't take someone with a different opinion than you. Also, all of your "deductions" about my age/education/degree, are weak, wrong and have nothing to do with the point being discussed. The "Bless your heart" thing is the definition of: I have no real point.

Your little personal advice sounds like

a little pretentious and self righteous. It sounds like a motivational poster (maybe a kitten hanging from a branch?) People can have their own opinions, negative or not. And they're still just as valid (if not more) than yours. Drones absolutely deserves criticism. Anytime someone says "Be Better", most people stop listening/reading. But please, keep telling us how to feel/think.

Oh, Ok. Will do. Thank you.

I didn't know a differing opinion would hurt your feelings so much. There's a team a couple of hours to the north that might better fit your sensitivity.

Stop with the excuses. there was no time left, kick it.

The chances of Love hitting the FG are much higher than having a QB that can't accurately hit a wide open RB out of the backfield, than throw it up for grabs.
