What is Franklin's advantage of taking a job before
What is Franklin's advantage of taking a job before he knows knows what all of the potential options are? He's not a VT guy or have any ties to VT. He'll wait until after thanksgiving and make his choice. Nothing's happening this weekend.

I know that's tongue in cheek (hopefully)
I know that's tongue in cheek (hopefully), but I would never want to be a fan of a coach/admin/whatever.. that would lose a game on purpose. Forget the leadership, at that point your entire roster is suspect. Two other things... We are not naming a new HC before the end of the regular season, and if we do, it means we've settled for another Fuente. Second, Franklin is not coming here. He'll either take the best/highest $ opening in the Power 2 that he can or sit out a year and dive into his gold swimming pool each morning like Scrooge McDuck (is that the right one?). I don't think much of him as a coach, but man, since he's been at Penn St, he's owned the top 4-5(?) star dudes in Va. That alone would make us competitive in the ACC again.

The Top Tier Available HCs
The Top level available coaches (which seems like most on here want) are
1. Waiting until the end of regular so they have every possible opportunity open to them.
2. For a Top Tier coach to sign somewhere during the season, it'd have to be his dream opening become available and wants to sign before a better option becomes available.
3. Where this season has gone, I think the only way we would announce a hire at this point is if they are decided on a lower level out side the power 5 (or Power 2 plus 3 -MEHs).

I understand why, but the fact that the NC State loss doesn't matter in conference play and might get them to the ACC Championship game (but we'll ruin that).

The funny part is that that ref should not have gotten that severe of a punishment and these refs/that call won't even be mentioned by the ACC.

Can we make a deal??
How about we get Fu to coach game 1, 2 and the 1st half of game 3. Then we pull the ol' switcheroo at halftime Pry is ready to jump in.

How is the nefarious "media" referring to an NFL team
How is the nefarious "media" referring to an NFL team by the name that NFL team has chosen as their name, the NFL's accepted as that team's name and is used on every single piece of official branding, merchandise and all official records, statistics, and legal documents considered "parroting"??
You don't like it, We get it... But it is THE NAME of the NFL Franchise for Washington DC.

I feel like I was there for this, but ya know...fuzzy memories and all.

RE: This sounds like an email I would send to a manager - đ with response
Greetings AnotherTechW,
Bringing in HR here for some additional clarity regarding the aforementioned alarmingly lengthy DC search. I will put a meeting on everyone's calendar for Friday afternoon at 515pm that I won't show up to, and none of the necessary people that can give us answers, will even be on the invite. This is getting visibility at the highest levels and needs to be resolved (you'll never hear me mention it again) at the soonest (I hate that one).
Cheers,
Office Guy that brings nothing to the table

The flopping type act of flailing around when there's no holding
The flopping type act of flailing around when there's no holding is the same as basketball/soccer flopping. But when these guys are actually being held, pretty much every pass play, it'd be stupid to not draw attention to it as long as doing it isn't keeping them out of the rest of the ongoing play. In the past, the "great" offensive lines just held every play and only a small percent were ever called.

It Looks like he's not so subtly being accused of tampering already. UCONN's coach doesn't directly name him, but it sure seems that he may be talking about him (or UNC staff) here.

While it looks like he may be taking a step back
While it looks like he could be taking a step back in the passing game at times, I think it's the opposite. He's learning (and improving) to go through his progressions on time. He just is mid-step right now. You can see him go to the next read (and even a third) and he knows how to read the D better. Sometimes when you're mid-step of improvement the fundamental "easy" things are slower to make the jump because they're not used to having to focus on them. But we've seen the footwork and the form last year. So we know he'll put that together. Let's just hope it's sooner rather than later. And I agree on getting the ball out on time. I think that extra count comes from that footwork and not being where he should be (or in position) when that ball has to come out. From what We've seen the last 2 years, I don't see any reason that he won't be able to do it. Just needs game reps.

Let's be Serious..
While I agree with your overall point, every year probably close to half of the the preseason Top 25 hasn't earned squat. Most are based perceived potential and the others either by name (School or Conference) with only a few being legit based on what they did last season, who they brought in vs lost and other misc. stuff (schedules, conf strength, leadership etc.). The argument that it'll get to the player's heads or whatever is on the coaches to maintain. I will say that feeling slighted at times can be a big positive. But the team still needs to be good.
It's always good to be ranked anytime but, definitely pre-season. Not only for the reasons mentioned above, but if VT happens to be legit it makes it much easier to move up in the polls throughout the season. We all know the voters (for the most part) don't think for themselves and prefer to just shuffle around the already ranked team each week.
That's part of the reason the SEC always has 7 +/- teams ranked. I'm not arguing talent and success at the top. But always having a mix of 4-5 teams like A&M, Missouri, Ole Miss, Fla, Auburn etc. in that 15-22 range ensures higher strength of schedule for all and if a 18th Fla loses to a 23rd Miss, they just switch spots. A 28th VT will have a very hard time jumping a 23rd SEC team even after a loss, right now.
Sorry, got a wee bit off topic there. But yeah, ranked=positive.

I don't see UA
I don't see UA working with VT, or anyone new. And I don't know that we want them. I get that VT's been worked over good by NIKE, but I think UA is getting out of that side of the business & focusing on standard sporting apparel and maybe golf. The less they are out there the less kids care about them. The business is changing. I think Adidas just lost some big soccer sponsorship too.

What are your thoughts...
What are your thoughts on why this system would be better for teams like JMU or Liberty than the last few years. Is it just because more teams will get in? I feel like it will be the auto Conference Champs and then the next "best" 7 teams (or whatever SEC/BIG10 mix they want). In 2022, I think Tulane finished #9. But with teams like FSU, Clemson, USC, LSU & ND right behind them, I would think they'd likely get passed over. And a G5 team finishing in top 10 is more the anomaly than norm.

At almost every school, football bankrolls the other sports already...
Excluding basketball at some schools. There are always one-offs. If football/basketball is bringing in the overwhelming percentage of the revenue for the AD and they are already funding the other sports, do you feel that the other sports should get even more of a share than that? If so, I'd like to hear your opinion.

Good.
Put in a player's salary cap, coaches salary cap, roster limits. Let A & M or Auburn pay one dude 50% of the cap. At least Georgia (or whoever) wouldn't be able to keep Four 5* RBs on the roster. Pay the players, but make the system at least a little more level.

So, a Georgia Tech v Miss State bowl
So, a Georgia Tech v Miss State game should be an iconic bowl to regular football fans? You ask "what kind of college football fan would think the Orange Bowl is meaningless?". I'd wager, for that matchup, the answer would be "most".

If they lose, do they still get the Orange Bowl Trophy
Since they didn't have their starting QB? Kind of like, they didn't deserve to get in the playoff since he was injured, the opposite should be true and they wouldn't deserve to lose since they didn't have their starting QB...

Best to let FSU test the waters and see what shakes out.

No one in today's CFB Landscape
No one cares that FSU left the Metro for the ACC 32-33 years ago. While they seem like a better fit in the SEC, I guarantee both the SEC and BIG would happily welcome FSU in a heartbeat if FSU can figure out a way to get out without their media rights being held by the ACC (or however that works). There is no more regional college football at this level. SEC having Florida won't be an issue anymore. Next year the SEC will have multiple teams on Texas, Alabama, Miss, and three in Tenn. FSU probably has the best (or one of the best) marketing potential of any of the schools that the SECBIG could pick up. I can't see any reason, other than the GOR issue, that would even make the SECBIG blink at taking FSU should that opportunity arise.

Agreed.
Definitely middle of the road ACC team. Now if we want to say high end of the middle...sure. But there is a huge chasm between them and Clem/FSU overall. Sometimes they get questionably ranked early on and that allows them to lose their 3-5 games and, depending on which end of that they fall, remain in the 18-25 range at the end of the season.

No way
Just my opinion, but If he is being told that he would be that late of a pick, no way he jumps at that. He knows he can improve his draft status immensely and potentially get real NFL money. These guys have confidence in themselves and now there's NIL money (no idea what he's getting) to help mitigate some of that money. Second half of the last round running backs aren't really getting much of a foot in the door. Practice squads just based on every GM passing him up 7 or so times. Now if he comes back, makes a little cash, plays well and becomes say, a 4th round pick, not only is the money better, but GMs will give him the benefit of the doubt much more than a 7th round practice squad RB, even if their evaluations are exactly the same.

Well, they're going to
They're going to 12 teams next year. I know it wouldn't be possible then, but if they had the 12 team format this season 10 out of the 12 would be from what will be the P2 conferences.

Bowl Game question?
Does anyone know what's up with the Bowlside, Bites and Brew package includes? Before the site crashed again, It said it's an area in North Endzone with food and drink and includes admission to the game. Does that mean a seat? Or is this a standing room only thing? Has anybody done it before? Thanks.

Bama shouldn't jump Texas. Texas is in front of them now and they beat Bama, won their championship against a top 20 team by 28 and beat a handful of ranked throughout the season.

Kind of crazy
It's kind of crazy when you think about all of the great RBs that have come to VT in the past. Sometimes 3 great ones at a time. Now in the last 5 years or so, all of the really good/great backs have come via the portal. It sucks whenever we lose a player to the portal, but VT has done pretty well in the RB department lately.
