Misc Elite 11/VT nuggets posted elsewhere on Bourque, Grunk and Bryce B
PB is the first Elite 11 in 27 years that won both the Pro Day and Accuracy. Grunk won Day 1 of Elite 11 in 2023. Bryce B finished 8 in Elite 11 in 2023. All three are in VT’s QB room in 2026. Someone might check that for accuracy, but I’m not going to check it because….I like it. ** Edited by V333T at 5/31/2026, 1:54:29 PM ** Edited by V333T at 5/31/2026, 2:03:03 PM

I don't think PB is in the "QB room" in 2026
2027 yes, and we'll see and hope Grunk and Bryce B are still there. I think Grunk will be, BB not as certain. And Troy Huhn is in the room, not Elite 11 but not too far off from it. I believe he was an Elite 11 finalist but didn't make the 11. A seriously upgraded room indeed ** Edited by MaroonMark at 6/2/2026, 2:28:42 AM ** Edited by MaroonMark at 6/2/2026, 2:32:03 AM ** Edited by MaroonMark at 6/2/2026, 2:45:51 AM

Thank you for the corrections
Especially for the notation of Huhn being a finalist and not an Elite 11. I realized I kept confusing 2026 and 2027 classes yesterday but was buried in other stuff and didn’t know where to start to correct it.

Peter during the 7v7 today
20 for 24. 7 touchdowns. 1 interception. Sacked twice. I think that's a pretty good Statline

Yeah, I just caught that. Ruminations he’ll place overall in top 5 or
better. I haven’t a clue.

Agreed

Rivals has him at #2 overall Link

I saw
I think he gets a jump into the top 50. He beat out the two 5 stars

Plus a rating pop and extra star. He beat a 5* Will Mencl who finished #5.

He beat the 5 star from Alabama as well

It's interesting to look back and see the participants.
The website shows the various schools that the prior year participants attended and if they made to the NFL. It looks like four or five usually make it to the NFL so that's promising. There are also some big names among the finalists who did not make it to the elite 11.

2020 Kyron Drones, 2017 Quincy Patterson II, how did those work out for us?
Just asking. Camp doesn’t necessarily equate to success on the field, whether it’s just the player, and/or his surrounding cast!

True, but did you watch both of them back then and Bourque now and
not see the difference? Ratings are ratings and are manipulated. I don't see the same potential in Bourque as KD & QPIII.

IIRC, I read that QPIII won the event?!

Elite 11
I think QP was in the elite 11 finals back in 2017 but it doesn't look like he performed nearly as well as Borque did.

Oh yeah, didn't mean it like that. I loved QPIII and was hoping he'd
be the dude for us. But he didn't look the part of a big time QB, even out of high school with all of the numbers he put up. Programs wanted him to play something else. But right now, with Grunk, Huhn, Bourque (potentially) and Baker, there's 4 guys that seemingly don't have an part of their game to hide, or cover up. I know we'll lose at least 2 when it all shakes out, but these are a different level of QB skill that VT hasn't had much over the past decade+.

I hope against every pessimistic bone 🦴 in my Hoakie body, you are correct

Fascinating. Just getting started and I see regional finalists that did OK.
Patrick Mahomes in 2013 and Lamar Jackson in 2014. Fun website.

You can manually change the year to go back to 1999
I just checked 2006 and Tyrod Taylor won the award for Best Feet. They didn't start listing the finalists until later. I put the link to 2006 below.

I wonder how many QB rooms have 3 former Elite 11s simultaneously
Read Alabama has two 2026 QBs in Elite 11. And shazam, its true. see link.

It is nice to finally see our names mentioned amidst the Blue Bloods.
However it turns out, we’ll see.

You can manually type the year and go back to 1999 on the Elite 11 website.
The finalists start appearing in 2011 and I was able to find Tyrod Taylor back in 2006 winning the best feet award.

Four. Huhn was a finalist as well...although I think he finished around 14

Most schools only play one QB so it would be hard to keep them all content.
I like watching Scott Fisher on youtube go over the prospects each year and he'll focus on various position groups or overall top players. QB is tough because most teams only play one QB. Fisher's 2017 analysis is below. I might have to an analyis of the Elite 11 and the finalists. I believe the guys who make it to the Elite 11 have to win a bunch of competitions so it's not like it's based totally on inaccurate rankings. A lot of them look overrated to me because RECRUITING RANKINGS ARE BS!

Yeah, I'd think once the depth chart is set, 2 of the guys will jet.
Depending on $$ after the season or depending on PT right away.
