Many of the boards, 'demonize all the athletes, entitled, NIL is poison, etc, but its still about relationships. yes, the business aspect 'can' at some programs get crazy... but you have have to have a coach leader, who understands the ballance, never loses its about relationships, and the foundation is the background community and fan base. Most have no problem with athletes being compensated, it was long overdue particularly with the adults involved - coaches, sponsors, media and universities - raking in billions. And they had plenty of years and lost lawsuits to rectify the situation. Though without a clear structure around NIL, academics, compensation, portal, transfers, etc., many see college athletics heading in a direction that isn't sustainable or, at a minimum, not worthy of their support. Supporting teams with almost entirely new rosters every year and players that have no meaningful connection or loyalty to their university isn't compelling. Again, blame the adults, they put themselves in this situation and still fecklessly sit on their hands while the situation continues unabated.

Also true and accurate. He didn't call out any poster and technically not even this board. I don't know if there's a history with past posts, but it seems this one may have been taken personally. There are many boards that do have posters that seem to act like that. Not everyone or even the majority, but they're certainly out there. This environment has many layers and people have differing opinions on them, some do blame the athletes "greed". I tend to think more along the lines of your post in that the vast majority of the blame belongs to the institutions (schools, NCAA, agents, boosters, etc). My support is to VT and the teams and not on which players are here year to year. But I definitely understand those that may like to have those connections to individual players and base their support on that.

I had no idea who they were, they just saw the Hokie bird on my car and struck up a conversation. I was so caught off guard they told me their names and I didn’t even respond with mine. No insider information or anything like that. Just good people.
