other Hokie Reps to our regular "get togethers" at Eastern Divide. I also routinely invited Whit, Phlegar and other staff members to the meetings. Brad showed up once, Everett showed up once, Marcus showed up once, and that was it. Did it every month for over a year. They just weren't interested, because none of us were the "whale" donors they were looking for. As @RJHokie says, they want as little human contact as possible. They don't want any relationships, just our money. That's when I started describing regular donors as "ATMs and backdrops for televised sporting events." There just like the current students. They don't want to interact, nor do they want to meet face to face.

And, speaking on greed, we have posters on this board that would de-fund every sport here to feed the insatiable beast that is the football program. As we would cynically say in my former life, the two driving forces for greed were money and women. In actuality, there is only one driving force,...greed. And, they would steal the money to obtain the women.

But, I agree that "unequal revenue distribution" might mitigate both our stances. Based upon past decisions by the B12 and SEC. I just don't think their avarice and venality can be stanched, particularly by something like the PCSA. And, any concern for other conferences, teams and/or college football is negligible if not non-existent.

I can agree, logically, with a lot of what you say. Where I slightly disagree is I think, if I understand what you're saying. From my viewpoint, the avarice and venality of all the conferences (the P2 to a larger extant) is insatiable and never ending, unless outside forces come to bear. I think once the power/money involved is maximized from the P2 viewpoint, those two will start excising teams. I also believe a lot fewer teams (and probably none) from the ACC/B12 will be invited once the excision is over. The slices of pie are fewer and the slices are therefore bigger, meaning increased revenue for the remaining few will be at its maximum. Therefore, unless an invitee brings enough revenue generation with it to not only offset the addition, but the invitee will have to bring more to increase the size of each slice. This conference would then create a situation where"...there’s a genuine desire to associate with them and play against them on the field...." Again, it's all about the money/power. And, I don't see any members of the ACC/B12 satisfying the their inclusion in the P2 (and, I'm including FSU, Clemson, UVa, VT, UNC and Duke in that analysis. To me, the PCSA is just a nothing burger, and is just a trolling mechanism for politicians. And, if passed, implementation of such a law would be even more difficult that passing lit.

Who, if anyone, is soliciting NIL funds. What are the mechanisms via which donations are made? Only The Hokie Way is registered as a charitable organization. How are donated funds distributed? Who decides who gets how much? What/who is the interface between the athlete and the NIL (Triumph or THW)? How does the NIL interface with the AthDept? What are officers/staff of the NIL paid? How much of the actual money donated winds up in the hands of the athlete? The questions are almost endless. Unfortunately, with getting old, comes the calls from overseas scammers for medicare, auto care, final expense insurance, duct cleaning and home improvements. I am starting to liken NILs to the scam callers, except the scammers call me ~40-50 times a day. The only person I know who says they have ever been approached re: NIL is @BackInTheBurg , and that was over a year ago. CMD spoke of NIL needs, yet we know little if anything re: NIL solicitations and distributions. Yet, many on here urge us to donate to these NILs. Yet, we have no info re: how our (or other) NILs operate. We don't even have an NIL equivalent such as Charity Navigator to find out the legitimacy of how NILs operate. If @Kid Rock wants to donate to an NIL, gold bless him. Ironically, he's having to search to find out how. That is beyond ironic, it's paradoxical.

Two years ago was an excellent example, and it looks like (from what I read on here), that amounts promised were reduced, with little or no explanation. I agreed with his snarky post, supra, and gave it a +1. And, I think it was quite nuanced in its approach. You "football funding at all costs" guys are pretty shortsighted when it comes to the 2nd biggest sport at VT (and most schools). You're probably the same guys who will rag on CMY when he doesn't win an ACC championship with the reduction in funding, and will have "convenient memory" about this funding when MBB finishes in the middle of the pack. Good for GC!

right. None of us (on this board, at least) really know about the money. And, because of a lack of transparency and communication over the last several years, trust in our "leadership" has become shaky.

CMY got screwed, reportedly yelled behind close doors, then did the best he could with the had he was dealt. He'll do the same this time. Also, when MBB declined to go the the NIT this year, I was very disappointed in the decision. CMY lost many points from me because of that decision. That being said, I have no idea what dynamics went into that decision (i.e., Avdalas, agents, the AthDept, etc.). I cannot conceive of a scenario where CMY would throw anybody under the bus, whether it was justified or not. That's what I mean by "old school."

Somewhere in this string, you mentioned FOIAing CMY's contract, and getting nothing about a new contract, You also mentioned that Frazier's contract was upped and extended. Could that be a clue that CMY is contemplating retirement, and that his replacement would be Frazier? And, if that happened, Frazier would be cheaper and would be touted as a "continuation" of CMY? What I just described would be typical CMY, who I believe to be "old school." And, that "old school" mentality would be typical of someone who remains publicly silent re: his treatment by Whit and his Minions.

the Roanoke Times this morning re: moving the columbarium near the Inn to somewhere else on campus. Families paid for those spots in the columbarium for their love ones. The remarks by Mark Owczarski (VT spokesman) deflected from this venal move by VT to erect a building. This post attempts to do the same thing,... deflect and redirect the conversation away from the issue that the AthDept is breaking promises made (which has happened before), and selling out to the god that is football. I enjoy advocates for various programs at VT, and encourage them ( @VTChlp and SERTC are great examples). That being said advocating for football is great, and I encourage it. But, when advocating crosses the line into hurting other programs, that's not advocation, that zealotry.

reading the posts by @Rev.Zeke Vodka and @GCHokie34 correctly, neither are suggesting for more MBB money, just what was promised previously. Additionally, many on here are saying that this lack of candor and surety re: budgets will last 4-5 years. To me, all of you football-centric proponents are more than myopic. You demonstrate a certain narcissistic, ravenous group whose lust can never be sated. You all have assumed a greedy, football-first position on funding that defies reason or moderation.

And the blue bloods probably don't want a CBA either, because the lack of rules is to their benefit. The NCAA has no power to either get all parties involved or to act as an unbiased mediator. I assume your hope is a very, very faint one.
