Regarding Kenny Brooks,
He received a $700,000 raise, more money for his assistants, way more money for recruiting, and a chance to coach in the SEC. Who of you critics would have stayed? We don’t know if Whit offered Kenny any opportunity to stay.

Disappoints Me about Kenny leaving is that he had the nucleus and the reputation at the time to be able to continue to grow this program. And it would be his program and it would be his legacy and now he’s just gonna be another SEC also ran with a couple more bucks in his pocket. That’s sad. legacy means a lot.

And no matter what went down between them (like anything, there's more than one side to that) ...the choices KB made as he left reflect on KB.
He can't point the finger at Whit or anyone else for how he chose to conduct himself.

I didn't care for Coach Brooks before this came down. BUT lot promises made that was not met by Whit. All I will say about the matter, but Kennny Brooks undermined the NCAA game before he left to get to UK quicker. IMHO...I can name a lot coaches that has screwed VT while here in several sports. Maybe Will can start a message board for that. And Who Moves to Blacksburg is none of My Business or Who they are..Grow UP !!

As if often the case when people leave and leave with a foul smell, it is the HOW.
- The "VT is home and the best fan base and the ...." became disingenuous
- The feellng like he had the foot out the door while coaching that final game
- The inabiilty to atually address the fans...you know the ones who were the best fans in all of basketball...
And more flubs.

And he did have one foot out the door coaching that last game v Baylor.
Thus, he deserves Loserville status in the eyes and minds of the VT fans.

Hokie fan favorite, and that he took Strack and also took Hassett, Blue, and Silva. We would have all enjoyed watching them play for VT, especially Strack. And Amoore had no business wearing another school's uniform. Kenny should have let her stay. His selfishness ruined her chance to be a life-long Hokie fan-favorite. He essentially stole her jersey from the VT rafters. She's now soured on VT for what - one wasted year at KY (just to help Kenny succeed in his new job. Ridiculous.

Their bond was too tight for her to stay. She, like Liz, was a WBB phenom and CKB can be credited with nurturing her talent, in a sense as a court coach.
He did taint her legacy in the manner in which he left, justified or not.

His exit still generates a lot of negative posts. You would think after two seasons we'd turn it lose but we just can't seem to do it.
I think we have a far better coach in CMD. Give her some time and more money and maybe then Brooks will be old old news.

What mostly irritated folks was he didn’t bother to take the time to write a nice thank you note to the fanbase as well as thanking the old fan base in his press opener for his new job once he left
All coaches do that and it takes a real jerk not to do that based on the way the Hokie fanbase supported his teams.
I truly am not passionate about this. But he definitely acted like a jerk to fan base in leaving. No one can question that

Berman exposed his surreptitious* plan to jump in the last presser. There is an unsupported belief he lackadasically coached in the tournament since he was leaving anyway and Liz couldn't play.

He has only proved in SEC he is not that good a game coach. Good for them and him. You give VT that money with Duffy. I say we going places. He left VT not caring one bit about what he had built. Showed no respect for school that got him where he is. JMU deserves vit credit. Great moments indeed. LIZ got us over top.
