Posting History (773)

Well, if Josh Puslasny says so, by all means we are doomed....tic

Most below point out the obvious to rebut what this person wrote. If Grunk takes care of the football, and the track record says he does do this, we will be fine. No problem with limited or lower pass attempts if our run game is going. Hard to fathom Reynolds not being a key player in the pass game to compliment what we know we have outside. This should make the run game good or better. Someone will pull some kind of stat out, but I don't put targeted throws to the TE in the high-risk category. We just can't have some gun slinging knucklehead throwing picks and either killing a drive or putting us in a tough spot on our end of the field. And, from the information we have so far - he seems to be quite efficient with his throws and stingy on picks. We shall soon see. 9/5/26 can't get here quick enough for me. MTH

C'mon. Asking for a pause on the clear and borderline Debbie Downer stuff

VMI game can't get here quick enough...........please Lord let it be this coming Saturday.......... This is a bit of dead period and lots of thoughts and ideas, but the "first time OC" and "Marcell is hurt" (per Facebook - there's a real footnote source to use), we didn't do this and didn't do that is really reaching an intolerable level.........can we just pause on anything close to negative? At least for a few more weeks? Good grief. I pause for days coming on here for fear of the latest disaster "right around the corner" posts. C'mon. If someone gets hurt - next man up (have you not been listening to the Franklin MO?). Has everyone already forgotten the depths we have been in? For all of the we need a big-time coach crowd: we got one regardless of the inappropriate question from some knucklehead at the ACC media day deal. For all the we need money crowd: we got it. For all the we need to do better recruiting crowd: we are. For all the we can't compete against x,y,z for so and so: we are, and winning many of these. For the Blacksburg can't draw the ones we need crowd: that's just complete BS. There'll be time enough to debate every single play and stoke the fire so and so....... later. We are NOT going 12-0 so get that out of your head and try to reflect on just how far we had fallen and ALL the things that have been done to flip that trajectory and that this year "could be" one that got it all going again and back where we "all" want it to be. Not flaming anyone or calling anyone out - just a cautionary post from an old geezer who has seen it all from Jimmy Sharpe till now. We are sailing into a much different area and it's time for some positivity given the last several years. Bring on VMI!!! Can't happen quick enough. GO HOKIES!!! MTH

Update on Hokie80

He continues to recover and we remain in touch. Having some personal experience with his procedure (my late Mother), he’s had some bumps along the way which while frustrating are not unexpected or a surprise. His spirits remain strong (my opinion) and he’s ready for some Hokie football. He’s doing his walking but pacing himself and understanding limits. Again, having some knowledge about what he went through I’m pretty impressed with where he is on the recovery trail. Seems he has a good medical team in his corner and all of us praying for his complete recovery. He’s a Hokie……he’s one of us. Thanks Brown Water for asking. MTH

Bourbon…….begging you……put the pipe down

And “4” people liked this - similar advice to you as well. I’m beyond ready for the VMI kickoff but this is the very definition of too much time on your hands. MTH

Can you send me that link?……😂😂

It’s really not that hard - stay away from the political red blue stuff and you’re fine. While the Roco situation bordered that arena, just not a topic for this forum. The magnetism was a bit too much for those who got the blindfold and cigarette. We just have too much positive mojo to get side tracked with this stuff. I don’t want to waste a second on that stuff. I want Love teeing one up for an a$$ beating the Keydets are going to get. MTH

Can September 5th start this coming Saturday?

Fully understand that all these kids committing to VT has to go through the process and signatures applied to dotted lines, but all the positives that seem to perpetually flow in have me wanting to see Grunk hit Que'Sean, AG or Reynolds with a laser for about 20-25 years on the first pass. Ready for a coin toss and a kick off. And for the record, months in advance, if JF gets the chance to pound the French into talcum power - he is going to do it. I mean going for it on 4th up 3 scores or finding out if Love can hit a 65 yarder - stuff like that. He didn't have the sprinklers turned on him, but he sure as hell knows it was done to "his" team and one of his best friends. MTH

I think the French are for sure going to be in the crosshairs

for what you describe above for a few reasons. 1.) Franklin gonna make it clear that if you are a top player in Virginia, there is only one school to consider and that's VT. 2.) Guy does read and feel the fan base well - he will deliver a slobber knocker if at all possible. He's been in Blacksburg for about 6 months but he knows the ones he needs to pounce on and kick em hard for the fans. 3.) He has NO fear of this happening to his team the following year. 4.) I think he wants to deliver what should be a very successful (trajectory heading up) season to end with a hard exclamation point - and winning against your alleged in state rival (the series is so lop-sided its a stretch to say that). The State Penn crowd never thought he won the big one or beat the one they wanted beat the worst - he has a chip on his shoulder and a good memory. He will absolutely plow the Oui Oui crowd into the Blacksburg turf. I mean going for it on 4th down up 4 scores - stuff like that. 5.) Don't rule out the bs they pulled on his dear friend Brent Pry with the sprinklers in Snot Stadium factoring in on some late in the game decisions. Can Love hit a 70 yarder with us up 4 scores? We might find out. Barring a very unexpected appearance in the ACCCG (yes I want to be there, just can't say that it will be this year) James Franklin should make the fans leaving Lane Stadium giddy and in a very good mood (and ready to up their donations). we'll see - but that is my take. Update on Hokie80 - Great News!

As I have shared with all of you, Hokie80 had some challenging medical issues that no one would ask to navigate. Thankfully, he has had his aortic valve replaced, he's our very own new and improved "six million dollar man" (the older Hokies will get this reference) and is heading home just today! Prayers answered and thanks to all of you who have followed his situation. He had some post op issues, but by this afternoon he will be heading home to keep recovering. Again, THANKS to all of you who read, prayed, posted and followed this. It's what we do when a brother is hurting and in need - we get engaged and provide encouragement, positivity and hope. It's a bond that runs deeper than Chicago Maroon and Burnt Orange. Hokie80 asked that I share the below with TSL. Again, thank you all. GO HOKIES! MTH To my fellow Hokies, Words cannot begin to express my gratitude for your prayers and comments on TSL over the last several months. And a specific personal thank you to MTH. I am truly humbled by your kindness and support. Virginia Tech is indeed a special place! Much love to each and every one of you. Go Hokies! The poster formerly known as hokie80 (Tim)

1980VT - hang in there. You’ve battled 30 years

you got many more left in the tank. You are winning in spite of the challenges. Hokie80 and I, among many others, keeping you in our prayers. Get that left foot and leg cleared up and ready for a comfy easy chair watching our Hokies take the field. Best wishes, MTH

You know, bum ticker (currently) and all

He was real clear that he’s watching you, observant Perry Mason style. MTH

Update on Hokie80

First, thanks to all the well wishes and prayers for Hokie80. He greatly appreciated them and it helped take the edge off his medical issues. Hokie80 will undergo an aortic valve replacement on May 11th. So, asking again to keep him in your prayers. One can only imagine the anxiety, nerves and fear of facing what lies before him. His spirits are good, and I for one am quite optimistic about his future as my mother had the same procedure and it worked out exceptionally. I’m putting him in that lane - active life post op. He’s excited about the upcoming year and he’ll have a tuned up ticker to help him enjoy the games in a couple weeks. Tough stretch coming up but with tons of Hokie prayers and Hokie love he’ll get through just fine. He’s getting a bovine valve, so I’m anxiously awaiting his routine tart comments garnished w bullspit. Thank you, personally, for praying for our Hokie brother. It is appreciated. MTH

Lesson here for all of us……

A little humility goes a long long way. Not reacting and retaliating in a chaotic loud manner is a talent we all should adopt. He can’t change his height. He can’t change many things that NFL teams have as measurable. Fixed in a sense. What he could change is his attitude, demeanor and behavior. That is in his control. He could have come in humble, hat in hand, sincere and succinct in his desire to just get a chance, to prove himself. That resonates as loud or louder than the petty, selfish, and vulgar episodes he has had. I try to use behavior like his to condition myself as to what not to do in life when things don’t go my way and often they don’t. MTH ** Edited by MontgomeryTexasHokie at 4/26/2026, 12:13:40 PM

After the first quarter or so of the VMI game you'll have a fairly healthy

list. Then, that list will be narrowed down to 2-3 top candidates by halftime and after we win 42-3, the poor bastard that allowed the field goal or caused them to get in range will likely be the top ***** with a close second. Just going on historical observations.............. MTH

Latest on Hokie80

First, to all of you who prayed and commented - Thank You. Hokie80 was most appreciative (moved actually) for all the prayers and support. We Hokies may argue and get chippy at times, but we pull together in the tough times and rally around those in need. Speaks volumes. Hokie80 is having a procedure early today and it is my firm belief that he is going to get some key information, guidance, and paths forward. Like all other things it seems, the advances in medicine are rather breathtaking at times and Hokie80 is in there right now (probably) getting updated on those and receiving high level care and advice. I will share what I can when I know more. Let's keep the prayers and good vibes for our brother Hokie going - they work and help. Again, THANK YOU for all the prayers and well wishes. Prayers for Hokie80

For the old timers (and maybe some newbies) Hokie80 should be a memorable poster. Well, he’s been absent from here for a few years but I’ve remained in touch via email. He remains well informed and like me has high hopes for our future. Hokie80 is facing some challenging times with some cardio issues still yet to be fully determined. Granting him some measure of privacy, let me just say it’s very serious. Whether you remember him, argued with him, or agreed with him, asking you to keep him in your prayers as he navigates some real health challenges. At the end of the day, we can argue, agree, disagree, get wound up but we are all Hokies and he loves our team like all of us. Best wishes to Hokie80 - you are in my prayers and I’m sure many others. MTH

....spot on. If it were only one or two infected with DDS

"Debbie Downer Syndrome" it would be okay, but the infection rate far too high on this message board (yes, it's a message board but there is no requirement to seek, find, and comment on the next potential catastrophe). From where we were at the end of the last game to where we are now is hard to believe and optimism SHOULD be uniform........, unless you perpetually try to find something, anything, a gnats size issue to ***** about or the sky is falling or will fall on x date. MTH

Hey love the bravado and high spirits..............but we absolutely

do not need this. We need to be outside the "others receiving votes" footnote thingy on these rankings. Not because we aren't in the top 30-35, I think we are - we just don't need any outside distractions, predictions, etc. as this totally new team and staff tries to put Humpty Dumpty back together. Let's get to the spring game and see if everyone knows where the bathrooms are located and see where we are on injuries and position moves and then we will just go step by step. Again - I get the enthusiam and good will, we just don't need that right now. I'd rather finish Top 15 than start Top 15. MTH

Saw some posts earlier about the exodus outta Happy Valley

and the arrival of former residents of Ames, Iowa. Now - I’m not throwing shade at Matt Campbell. He’s a proven solid coach. Many would have been fine with him here, me included. My question is who here would take the Iowa State portal guys over the Penn State guys. Not me. You might have one or two positions where ISU might have an edge, but were you to have equal opportunity position by position to take either, I say the Penn State players are the better choice. And I don’t care what that 247 team ranking as of now says. MTH

A non-portal, roster, NIL post (change of pace)

Hoping Bhayshul Tuten has a good game today for the Jags. Really liked him when he had that VT on his helmet. About 400 yards of offense this year as a rookie. Not bad. Thanks to that Bear comeback last night - we’ll get to see Tremaine Edmunds play again in the next round. MTH

Sort of pull for the kid since he is from just about 15 miles down the road

from me in Willis, Texas. Would "think" that he'd want a Texas / SEC school, or maybe Houston. If Tilman Fertitta wants him to come to UH, money is no problem. In closing - made my donation and you know what..................felt good doing it. Call me crazy, but it sure feels like a new day has dawned on Blacksburg and that the pain and misery of the past 6-7 years might be gone, maybe sooner than any of us thought. MTH

Could Curt Cignetti go from JMU to a natty

in “2” years? As of now, that’s a “yes”. He’s giving those “we deserve it” blue bloods a good kick in the groin. Indiana. Not aTm, not LSU, not Georgia but Indiana. Let that sink in. Half to go, but this is looking dim for the elephant crowd. So, call me crazy - but if that can be done in two years in Bloomington Indiana, it can be done in Blacksburg, Va. Hey it’s a New Year - think and dream big! Happy New Year to all Hokies. Times they be a changin. MTH

What a punk.

Johnny Manzel 2.0. Will read about a bar room brawl w him or family members trying to stiff some establishment on the tab - in the near future. What a loathsome sort. Good riddance. MTH

Hadn't thought of that but quite possible. Going to say "yes" based on

limited intel. I find it nothing short of amazing that "some" can predict all this doom and gloom so early and with such certainty. MTH

Shane Beamer is 33-30 at USCe and more importantly a woeful 16-24 SEC rec

He fired Shula (but he's the one who hired him) and Briles is an attempt to save his job. I am of the opinion he will be fired early on if they stumble out the gate in '26 ala our move in '25 so they have first mover on a new coach. MTH

PDS = Pry Derangement Syndrome

Amazing how Franklin can go from "Savior" (recruiting turnaround) to "idiot" (Pry hire) in a matter of a few days in the eyes of far too many on here. And can we stop with the "his defenses weren't that good at PSU" stuff? This was pre-NIL and he was facing B10 offenses not Wofford and VMI. There is risk in any hire. Looks like Franklin chose the person he knows and trusts versus a new guy and limited knowledge. This guy operates in a "family" type mode and Pry fits that and has performed for him in the past. He is solving the risk on his DC with this choice. I get it. If our offense puts up points, Brent Pry's job will be much easier. MTH

What Windows said, but BOLD and ALL CAPS

You asswipes want to ride a conference for everything "but" football then whine to high heaven about not getting in - via a CONFERENCE championship. Shove it as far as it will go. I agree with Finebaum about 50% of the time, maybe a tick more. The "bama" angle with this guy probably biases me more than anything but he was absolutely right describing their behavior on the snub - "embarrassing". FSU got jobbed when Jordan Travis went down and they went on after damn near the whole team opted out; took an ass beating from Georgia; but showed up. MTH

Exactly. The same guy who got us a Top-25 recruiting class to some lost

his mind in the last few days and is now borderline buffoon. And can we just drop the rankings on Pry's defense while he was there - that was pre-NIL and they were playing B10 opponents, not exactly Wofford or ODU. \ Everyone needs to take a deep breath. We are in a big hole. First step was to get a PROVEN P4 coach (check); Second was to change the trajectory on the recruiting (check); 3rd is staff and 4th portal needs. I am not going to slit my wrists over Brent Pry getting the DC gig. Risk, yes. But, so is hiring some other guy he doesn't know or has not worked with closely in the past. For now, I see "stability" and "known" quantities in what he has done. There is risk in each scholoarship, each portal, each coach, all of it - I am going to let this play out and not get ahead of where we are on the timeline. MTH

Understand the “he hired who?”….with this news.

But, the same guy that made that decision also reeled in a Top-25 recruiting class, truly a Lazarus moment from where we were. Same guy. I’m going to pause on a critical evaluation and defer to Franklin knows what he’s doing; no dummy; on a mission; and no one knows Brent Pry like him. Some co-ordinators are not automatic head coach material. Could be the case here. MTH

Duke sure tried to crap the bed themselves.

That stupid procedure penalty w 1 min and change to go gave the wahoos a free timeout and then, very uva like, not to outdo that, the rb goes out of bounds and gives them yet another clock stop. Reflecting back on the idiotic trick play Bronco tried to the OL 3-4 years back and the ending last night - maybe uva should avoid trickery late in the game…😂😂😂😂 I still laugh at that one they tried on us with the offensive tackle/guard. Idiotic. If anyone doesn’t think the path to taking the ACC w James Franklin isn’t Herculean - we’ll just have to disagree. What I saw all season and particularly last night convinces me we can get there fairly soon. Have a great day my fellow Hokies! MTH

Who here had “Matt Campbell” on their bingo card for PSU?

I doubt anyone. Good for Campbell - clear upgrade (for him - them……no way) But, he is the benefactor of the knee jerk firing with no plan and I guess the hubris of thinking many top coaches would vie for the gig. Then James Franklin signs a bunch of their players and they get 2 signees. Alas “we gotta do something or the portal will continue the exodus”. These folks if they were set on firing Franklin “needed” a “yes” in hand from their top 1-2 targets. If they wanted Elko, should had a hard yes from him before firing Franklin. Matt Campbell inherits this mess and the idiots who set it in motion. When we think of the issues we feel with our Athletic Department, remember these clowns. MTH ** Edited by MontgomeryTexasHokie at 12/6/2025, 10:24:26 AM

Unfortunate. Thought we had a good line on this kid. I will take this..

moment to remind all those on this board, regular or otherwise, that the next time someone poo pooh's Blacksburg or coming to VT versus x, y, z, remember this young man. Sieg to WVU.............let that sink in. He chose to go to a ****hole town (sorry - just the facts) and play in a failing conference that travels to armpits like Lubbock Texas to play and to play for a coach who has long since seen his better days and fired multiple times. If this kid will go to Morganhole to play - then we can get similar kids to come to Blacksburg. MTH ** Edited by MontgomeryTexasHokie at 12/3/2025, 11:14:34 AM

Just saw the first ✅

Let’s go Hokies! Gonna be a great day! The past is the past. Done. Over. We are heading to brighter and greener pastures. Finally - cmon Sieg. Lane Stadium is waiting on you and we are too. MTH

6'2".......290......he'd get hurt amongst these other giants Franklin has

lined up. These commits are some serious size. Wish him well, but we are just fine. MTH

You know, I regard them about the same way Texas does aTm - zero.

While just like aTm to Texas, we live rent free in their head. Enjoy your little blip of success. I could care less and the thousands of empty seats at the ACCCG say the same. I will repay a clever post one of them posted a ways back when we played Ohio State and modify that for them and the landscape going forward…….. ……Wahoos…..prepare thy anus. MTH

The head start Franklin got seems to be a real catalyst in this flurry of

commitments. He was able to keep in contact and likely lay out his plan and vision for each player. The strong commitment to him ain’t going away after this class. He’s gonna get the same with the junior targets in high school. Better days ahead Hokies. Past is the past. New sheriff, stunningly different results so far. MTH

Good stuff MKD. Sadly, we’ll have a few on here that’ll be negative

if we finish 20th instead of 19th. Unbelievable in a sense. It is a different level and after a couple weeks hard for me to say we didn’t do the best out of all the openings with Franklin. If he does this with recruits hard to think he’ll strike out in the portal. Not happening. MTH

All good brother. Sit back and enjoy

a new day, a new era that I would say is coming to Hokie Football. That’s what we all want no matter how we post it. MTH

Just curious.......on a day like I cannot remember, you post something

like you did, that no matter how you read it, twist it, or turn it...........is negative. Why? James Franklin's contract ink is barely dry, and I just have to say this isn't necessary. C'mon. How about a "glass half full" and say "When Franklin retires ranked with Beamer as a Hokie great",. he will have left our program on much solid ground. We just landed a bunch of 4stars and it appears more heading our way - Franklin leaving in a couple of years just does not fit with the vibe, mood, or tone today. Not a flame. Not trying to piss you off. Just asking we keep it positive, as but for the hot deucer we laid Saturday night - it's been as positive a few weeks in Hokie land in quite a while. MTH

Can you promise to keep doing this for each day this week? Help a brother

.....here, now. I mean what a Monday! Keep it rolling! I mean Arians sort of said these 4stars were coming on the Pat McAfee show and while I didn't doubt him, he said they committed and then it was a few days until the rb and te actually did. But, good Lord. This offensive line Franklin is building is steam roller level. If you are less than 6'3" and 275-280, you don't belong. Gonna be 6'5'-6'7" and 300 lbs across the front with some studs at TE. And I think Lamah is going to be a bad bad dude at LB.........a "want no part of that" type hitter to be accounted for on every opposing offensive play. Great day (every day actually) to be a Hokie! MTH

Geez Pete..........Flood gates seem to be opening.............

Gonna give a pass to all the naysayers on Franklin (I am in a charitable mood counting 4 star commits) but you know who you are. Can I get a "hell yeah" from all the faithful in today's congregation?? Dammit, say it loud too. Can the next domino be Seig............I mean why not? MTH

Big! Not sure we have seen the "full effect" of Franklin and the effect he

has on recruits and their families. Pretty statement like to get a kid like this from California with the offers he had in hand. We got a glimpse of this with the rb and te from Pa and Minniesoota, but this is even larger - imo. Feel a signing tidal wave coming and what has happened so far justifies my feelings. Finally - to the pricks and uppities from C-ville, it is my hope that Franklin grinds your ass into the Lane Stadium turf to a level not seen in some time, if ever. Enjoy your brief lived "conquest"......it is over and fans dressed in aluminum soon to return. MTH

This is not a good person and nobody you’d trust alone with your wife

or managing your finances. The track record speaks of a very selfish, no rules, no boundaries individual. For a brief recap - to make my point 1.). Tennessee - what he did there terrible and the way he interacted w Frank after he got his ass beat truly loathsome. 2.). Oakland - Al Davis said he was “coned” with Kiffin. No reason to doubt Davis’ claims. 3.). USC - fired on a tarmac. Loved that one. 4.). Alabama - he had some kind of alias name there using it to prey on co-eds 5.). Alabama - Saban had to run him off prior to a NC game cause he was spending more time lining up stuff for FAU gig versus his job he was being paid to do. 6.). Ole Miss - need I comment here? There are people in this world you just need to steer clear of no matter what you think they can do for you. He’s at the top of the list for me. Shake his hand you want to go take a shower. Baton Rouge and LSU can have him. MTH

New day. Past is the past.

Happy to put this sad last decade of Hokie football behind us and turn the new page. What all of us saw last night was nightmare level. Nauseating. Either Pop is no better (or worse) than Drones or we were in suicidal don’t give a **** mode. How you keep him out there a real stain on this staff. Hope Franklin has some new high level commits ready to put on pen to paper and the last chapter of the decade disaster written and done. Signing day this week. Portal opens early in the new year. Better, brighter days ahead Hokies. Crap we saw last night gonna be a distant memory soon. It was painful to watch. MTH ** Edited by MontgomeryTexasHokie at 11/30/2025, 10:15:02 AM ** Edited by MontgomeryTexasHokie at 11/30/2025, 10:15:58 AM

It’s called a rivalry but is it?

We’ve won 23 of the last 25 and overall 62-38-5. They could win every game until nearly 2050 and still trail in this series. Not sure that’s a rivalry rather an annoyance like a zit or fire ant bite. My apologies to zits and fire ants. I still say we win today in spite of our issues. Kids send Monty out with a win. After today, I can see Franklin going on a Frank type run and burying this bunch year after year. MTH
