$75 million donation is incredible.

On the other hand, it covers about 1.5 years of college football now.

National Championship game is January 25th. The system is broken.

Saw this on Josh Pate's latest post. Also, he says the midpoint between the start of the season and the end of the season is November 14th. Most schools are just about done by that point. ** Edited by hokiedad25 at 6/7/2026, 1:26:22 PM

Dropped 9 spots in my rankings with that loss

We were the last team in based on my rankings yesterday morning. But we went from 45th to 54th with the loss to WF.

Tournament Projections. I'll throw my hat in the ring.

Everybody seems to have tournament projections now. Since I've been doing my own rankings, I thought it would be time to create my own projections. So here's mine. It's based on my current rankings as of this morning. Here are the last four teams in: San Diego State, Texas A&M, Missouri, Indiana Here are the first four teams out: Virginia Tech, New Mexico, USC, Texas

Mr. Beast floats idea of spending $100 million on ECU football

I don't know who the guy is, but my son does. Jimmy Donaldson, aka Mr. Beast, attended ECU in 2016 for about 2 weeks before dropping out to concentrate on his Youtube channel. Well, he's done pretty well. His media company Beast Industries is worth about $2.6 billion now. He's now floating the idea of putting $100 million into ECU football to buy a national championship. I mean, look at what Texas Tech is doing. These kids are playing for money now. No reason why kids wouldn't go to ECU if they got paid more than what Ohio State would pay them. I love that we have Franklin now and I love his philosophy, but I also wonder if it even matters in the current iteration of college football. Until it gets reigned in, maybe your best chance at winning a national championship isn't the coach, it's how invested are your school's billionaires in the program? Just imagine if someone like him could somehow pull something like this off?

Just read Indiana has now allowed 6 runs 50+ yds this year

Tied for 6th most in country. I guess that’s the only way you score on them.

Who called timeout?

Or does ESPN get to decide when to stop play now?

I think 8 wins would be a good season.

The team we had in 2024 went 6-6. Probably should have been 8-4. Talent wise, I think next years team is above that team. We can beat Clemson. We can beat SMU. Not saying we will. W - VMI W - ODU ? - Maryland ? - UVA W - BC ? - Cal ? - Clemson L - Miami ? - SMU ? - GT W - Pitt W - Stanford If we win the games I think we should win and then split the ones I'm not sure about, that's 8 wins.

Ratings mean nothing after 1 or 2 years of college football

I'd argue that a 3* HS recruit that has played two years of college football is a far better football player than a 3* or even 4* HS recruit entering his Freshman year.

Cignetti and Indiana may be showing most of the power 4 how to do it now

While blue chip schools like Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, USC, Georgia, Texas, etc outbid each other on the 5-star high school recruits and the top guys in the portal, Indiana is showing everybody else how to build a team of very good players and coaches.

Just remember. This is an outlier. At least for now.

Historically, recruiting rankings pretty much told you who had a chance. But with the portal, there's a whole new paradigm to building championship caliber teams.

The bowls are desperate for any recognition now.

Did anybody really consider that the Peach Bowl last night? Or the Fiesta Bowl the other night? No.

I'm all in. This guy is incredible.

Reminds me of our run in 99 and TCU a few years ago. Always like to see the new kids crash the party.

Key phrase from what you said is on point

"Franklin expects recruiting at the minimum should be what we delivered this year" Hadn't really thought of that, but that hits hard. His recruiting standard is much higher than what we've had, maybe even higher than what we got under the Beamer years.

I'm sure TSL isn't on his mind this week.

He is 100% focused on getting these players out of the portal. I'm sure when he has time in the future, the relationship will develop.

Did you see it in real time or only after the replay?

Face mask penalties get missed all the time. And they usually don't call them on the offensive player.

Are we seeing a shift back to running offenses in college football?

Miami showed it. Indiana showed it. Georgia is showing it. Is the spread offense done?

The bye isn't the problem, its the length of time since their last game

Ohio State went 25 days between games. In the bowl era, no one cared as much. But these are playoffs. There should be no break between conference championships and the start of the playoffs. And each round should only be a week apart. But they still want to pretend the bowls matter so they schedule quarterfinal games around New Years. Second round games should have been played last weekend. ** Edited by hokiedad25 at 1/1/2026, 5:24:22 PM

25 days off before playing in a playoff game is just stupid

College football needs a lot of fixing. 1. Start the season one week earlier 2. Screw the bowl games 3. Play the playoffs every weekend. We're past worrying about playing these "bowl" games on New Years Day. I'm looking at you Cotton, Orange, Sugar, Rose, Peach, Fiesta, etc. 4. Championship game should be played the Monday after January 1st.
