Stop rewarding mediocrity. Let money flow to programs that are going bring honor and national recognition to the conference. We share TV money. That's enough. Also, WRT conference exit fees, there are specific amounts that everyone agreed to base on the recent settlement. Miami will pay up if they leave. But their problem is getting an invitation to a P2 conference. I'm not too sure the Big Ten and the SEC want to expand anytime soon. I know everyone is penciling in FSU, UNC, and maybe Clemson and Miami to the P2, but I'm not sure anyone is a lock for an invite. I think the P2 is letting things play out a bit. I think there is already some buyer's remorse when it comes to the west coast teams. Fans get emotional team x versus Team y. bottomline RIGHT NOW, Miami is part of the ACC, as we are so we share the BRANDING good or bad. Therefore if Miami goes the playoffs its good for the other members and next year, we get a marquee oppoonent for national game. With VT budget NOW, we are equal in money to the all the other top brands and we are positioning ourselves to do the same. SO this is transactional, and the moment, its all business. SO good for Miami, we shouldnt care for their finances and when we get there we WILL have the same mentality.

I thought we started all this uneven $ sharing because of them not Miami. If we are going to have it, and we can't get it, I'd rather FSU and Clemson don't get it. Also, IIRC Miami was pretty chill about sharing in the old Big East. We started off not sharing very much and then over time, eventually got pretty even (probably because VT was taking it all from everyone else!)

The top teams might want to stay in the ACC if they can have an easier path to postseason play and they can keep their postseason rewards. This is the success initiative. I can sort of get behind since excellence is rewarded. The one I don't understand is the viewership initiative. Why did university presidents vote for the viewership initiative when most programs lose out. That's the one where they allocate 60% of the TV revenue based on five years of viewership numbers. Viewership numbers are not reliable and there is a lot of hate-watching. Essentially, 60% of the TV revenue that the league pays to its schools will be based on five-year TV viewership numbers, rewarding the schools that bring in more viewers.

Hopefully it lasts long enough for VT to get its "unfair" share. Miami's success has only a residual and deferred positive effect for its conference brethren. Bottom line...I believe the ACC has managed itself into being the next PAC-12. Its maneuvers have probably just bought some time. CFB is about one thing now ...MONEY. Until the ACC hires some real marketing talent it can't feed everybody at a P2 level.
