Bless Ole Buzz Williams heart
Another 30 pt loss, 4-15 in B1G play.
It is sad when the good honorable guys out there just cant get a break!
Yeah I know he has a big recruiting class coming in next year with the big NIL money behind it, so Ole Buzz may yet be sporting his latest GQ bartender line of high end suits on TV from coast to coast. But for now at least, no one cares.

It's almost like he intentionally tanks his first season so he can demonstrate how much he improves the program the following year.

fairly low key in demeanor for a while but starting at about the 8 minute mark discusses why he leaves jobs like Marquette, Va. Tech, Tx A&M after 5 or 6 years. At the 11 and 1/2 minute mark he starts to go into his Buzz-like demeanor with comparisons to a carnival. Its hard not laugh at the guy.

Kind of Stalin like, with his Five-Year Plans:
Year One: Arson. Burn it down. Team sucks. His version of Build Back Better starts to include some shady things.
Year Two: #GetBetter. Team and fans start buying in.
Year Three: #GetEvenBetter. Team and fans buying in some more.
Now, here, Buzz shows just how much of a visionary he truly is. He sees his next job two years before anyone else, and quietly plans. 🤣
(Yeah, I agree, after the third year, lock the vault. He'll grab what he can on his way out, so bolt everything down to the floor.)
Year Four: Team is really good. Fans are really loving this quirky guy. He is delivering the goods. They wonder why his former school was not able to keep him.
Year Five: The best. Team is really reaching the heights. Fans are ready to crown him, King Buzz.
Year Six: There is no Year Six. (I did say it was a FIVE-Year Plan.) At the end of Year Five, right out of the locker room after the last game of the season, Buzz makes a run for it, stuffing everything he can into a duffel bag, every last morsel he can gather. He runs into the waiting arms of his next victim-er-school. He leaves you crying at the altar, taking off with one of the bridesmaids.
I wonder if he ever unpacks when moving to a new place, or does he just live out of a suitcase? 🤔😂

Relative to the rest of his tenure. He comes in and rips the culture apart. So it's not really a surprise that MD is bad this year. If MD fans were expecting otherwise, they didn't spend much time studying him.
VT: 11-22
A&M: 16-14
MD: 10-17

Unfortunately my hunch is that his conference record will be better than MY’s next year. He’s got some good players coming in.

... and make sure they know what will happen the next 3-4 years.
In particular, I would tell them, "Over the next 3-4 years, don't get frustrated that no one on your team is over 6-8, ignore the mumbo-jumbo, and enjoy a trip to the Sweet 16 right before he leaves. Do NOT give this guy any of your money after year 3. He'll use it to recruit players for his next team.
"Your Year 4 team is going to be killer, but that's it. Don't get your hopes up." :)

They are pretty aware of his normal M.O. and are much less likely to fall for any of his normal Buzzworld BS.
Essentially he gets a pass this year. He has a sheetton of NIL to fix it. Obviously they will look much better next year, so that will be a semi pass. If by third year they arent top 20 and amongst the top 4 or 5 in the B1G the fan base will lose their collective minds. He will exactly zero friends.
Rightly or wrongly the expectations are MUCH higher in college park then Blacksburg or even College Station (where all attention is on football anyway). If I had to bet UMD is the hill Buzz dies on, and he will never have another shot at a winning Power program. Check back in about 2 years. Lol.

"Come one, come all!", shouts the carnival barker.
Ride Cloud 9, while Buzz's recycled phrases play. "Get better!" "Hard way, right way!" "I know you won't understand this, but..."
Climb aboard the Big Dance Ferris Wheel! It's a great ride, but will end all too soon!
Watch the Master of Confusion change loyalties, in a split second! Your head will spin!
Double check your pockets before leaving. Make certain you have your wallet. All exits final!

expect a bit of a delay after the fuse is lit, a quick takeoff, an accelerating upward trajectory, going pretty high and then a sudden explosion.

He will have underperformed two power programs in a row- one with almost unlimited resources the other with very good resources/tradition/passion. Getting VT to one Sweet Sixteen and being Jimmy Butler's coach decades ago wont get you a job at one of those schools you've mentioned. Add then there is the the part that everywhere he goes he is hated on the way out.
Sure he will probably coach somewhere (unless he can find a job at a high-end Park Avenue condo as a valet- as he already has the wardrobe) but his chance at ever being significant on a national level will be OVER.

like Providence or Seton Hall where he won't be under the gun, just so he can ride it out. Hard to say. He is a genuine flake.

It's really, "the right way is the hard way and the hard way is the right way" but you got the gist. My wife hates when I use it to help her.
