A niche role seemed to be all Schutt played down the stretch last yr too but his shot stopped falling. He only shot 32% in conf last yr from deep.

Been awhile since we've had a 9 man rotation so someone will be unhappy.
Hopefully competition will create better players. I can see a number of guys reducing their minutes or points/game. It'll be hard to keep Copeland off the floor even at 6'2" if he can shoot it at 43% in the ACC.

I don't know that CMD has history of playing with that size but she likely won't be able to keep those 3 off the court together.

Or go big with Trent for Latham or Hurst for Wells. Hard not to be excited for top 50 players who put up 16 & 9 against ranked SEC opponents and played 10min/game as a freshman. Look at Strack or Silva's freshman numbers. It's certainly plausible that Hurst could make same jump with double the minutes. I like finally having a high % shooter coming in and not just a volume shooter like Wenzel and Amoore.

Everyone else has essentially announced. Hell, even Clay Grady announced. Perhaps CJS is making calls to fundraise to keep his best player in Blacksburg and Ball is giving him a grace period. Imagine how much better he'll be next yr!

The Swift portal irritates me the most. Not sure what beef CJS had w/ him.
Had a .115 BAA in ACC play, a 3.67:1 SO/BB ratio in ACC play but only got 7 innings of work. He had a better BAA overall than anyone else by 50 points. I get it that some guys only got weekend work in the ACC but when he proves he's worthy during the week and in spot ACC duty, he needs more opportunity. Guys are hitting .340-.380 off Grim, Robertson and Yagesh in ACC and they had double and triple the innings. Just odd.

You have to think a former top 50 player at 6'5" 215 has to get more PT
If Copeland can show more than a spot up shooter, then I could see him getting 15mpg here or there but not starting min especially given his size to go along with our other sub 200lb PG.

I saw he went through senior day activities. Have to imagine...
he either re-aggravated it or decided to sit the year and take a redshirt b/c if you're going to try your hand at the majors, you still want to get some swings in and you have to think CJS would get him a couple ABs if he's healthy.

At 23 yrs old, I hope he's not a Dorn in terms of development.
We expected Gurdak to push to start next season but never thought Dorn was that guy. Who are we getting? A real sophomore ready for a breakout or a 23yr old sophomore who will play sparingly because he's already had time to make the big jump from HS ball to pro?

It was just an exercise to compare an NFL org to a college program...
and as it relates to how the athletes are treated or should be treated like pros. Sucks all around and now I think I'm really seeing that the "league" or "conference" is the driver with like you said, the TV contracts being the biggest revenue generator.
