Posting History (801)

Well, we know football and basketball are the only profitable sports...

If you remove the TV deals and look at revenue for the programs alone, for same amount of games, it's not more at LSU for example, than it is Cincy? It has to be. I have to think there are more fans and money spent by fans in the SEC or OSU than for the New Orleans Saints.

Without knowing revenue numbers of football programs of the SEC or NFL,

I'd be willing to bet there are numerous college programs who out generate NFL teams over the same number of games so it makes total sense. The difference is the conference and TV shares. The NFL definitely has a larger market but drilled down to individual organizations, there should be many SEC programs that our earn Cincinnati or Indianapolis.

At 23 yrs old, you have to think he's close to his potential.

He seemed like he was a running personal foul most of the time with occasional success. I don't seem him doing much more than Wessler.

This makes me think of the Tiger Woods - Curtis Strange interview

I commend you for your stance that participation trophies are an awful idea....and Tiger does as well. A little nuance is needed to grasp the Curtis Strange outlook that 2nd or 3rd is "not too bad". IMO, there's so much more that goes into a fall Saturday on campus other than the 60 minutes between whistles, and better yet, 16+ weeks of them.

I think the field of 68 is the goal every year.

And yes, I think that's ultimately viewed by fans as successful. Granted, being the last 4 in (68 is a dumb number) feels a little like the red headed stepchild. March Madness is the greatest sporting event in this country (the internationals may like the World Cup) so being involved in that bears more fruit amongst the O&M faithful. I think if you participate in the NIT, the only way you view that season as successful is if you're the last team standing.

When you realize we beat UVA without Lawal AND Johnson, you'll see...

just how silly that comment is. FWIW, we played Sincere Jones 13 min. and Pasha 10 min in that game too. WF isn't UVA. That was with a confidence losing Neo not the confident healthier Neo we have now.

Because he's followed Frazier to every school he's been to.

And chances are Frazier isn't going to be a HC at a power program if he takes a HC job.

This is one of the best life quotes I've taken from him. I love it!

It's really, "the right way is the hard way and the hard way is the right way" but you got the gist. My wife hates when I use it to help her. ** Edited by chagerma at 3/5/2026, 10:59:04 AM

You'd have to imagine CJS is saying I can't let him work out of this slump

on the weekends any longer. He obviously has to be hitting the ball well in practice or he wouldn't put Cooke out there UNLESS, he's head and shoulders above the backups defensively.

I feel bad for post 2017 fans. Gimme '95@UVA

Most of my most memorable are away games. For UVA '95 you get a TD pass under a minute to go and a pick 6 to seal it. Great ending. Storming a visitor's field is pretty crazy. Honorable mention: '99@WVU Keep the dream season alive against a rival '99NC Bourbon St. is awesome when you're 23yrs old. '07@LSU The most incredible tailgating and loudest stadium experience in my lifetime '03 A&M Hurricane Isabel and a lot of bourbon '95 Sugar Bowl 15 hr drive from VA in a minivan, cheap hotel, and The VT national coming out party '95Miami Climbed the goalposts and made front page of Roanoke Times Sports Section.

I would agree with 95% of this.

I’d just put Pasha in front of Dorn. Preseason, we all assumed given Pasha’s award winning freshman yr, he would be our starter. I thought he’d at least earn more minutes as he got accustomed to the system and what was expected of him but we haven’t seen that. After Bedford I think he’s the best at getting his own shot. Safe to say that ship has sailed?

Having seen the development of young guys and other system fits...

who is your core you prioritize coming back and in what order? Who are you going to suggest there are places where there's a better fit for them in order to upgrade at their position? We heard CMY say that they'll likely look to add a freshman or two in the May signing period but Lawal, Bedford, and Neo would be the 3 we'd need to replace in the portal at a minimum. I'd expect 3-4 to hit the portal or head back to Europe.

@vtfin91@Nortazhokie Is Renfrow on limited pitch count?

Yall mentioned that last week. 54 pitches seems somewhat of a quick hook. Is there an injury that's gone unreported? If not, then why is CJS being careful with him?

I feel like Exum has been a 1 inning max guy for some reason.

His role has reduced every year. From 1.8innings per app in 2023, to 1.3 in 2024, to .85 last yr. That's minimal depth.

It's actually The College of William and Mary though it's a university.

Now you know. :) Just like we think it's silly when people write Virginia Tech University.

He only threw 5 balls. Not televised to know if the outs were hard hit.

Regardless CJS usually let's him ride even with some runs on the board. Maybe this year with depth in the pen, everyone has a shorter leash.

Is Clay Grady hurt or did a freshman beat him out at 2B?

We heard that Daniel would have a good chance to move Grady to 2nd base but I don't think anyone discussed him getting moved out of the starting lineup. I think someone said he even played some outfield in practice.

Look at Clemson's away schedule. Not a single team in top 1/2 of ACC.

Their ranking is inflated. It's going to get them into the tourney but we're a better team....and we're not even whole.

If we played Clemson's ACC sched, we're likely right where they are. And...

I would disagree with your lack of development comment. Look at Hansberry. Look at Hammond. Look at Schutt. Look at Lawal. All marketably better than last yr. It needs to be noted that the 3 losses on last second shots (or 2 min. collapses) have hurt but in general there has been development amongst the team for sure.

I'd only criticize the lack of Bedford in the game for extra ball handling

in the games where we were pressured and losing composure. Some have said it's possible that CMY was sending him a message. He showed his worth at the end of the GT game going up for that long inbounds pass and getting fouled. Send a message running after practice, not when a W is at stake.
