Make that nine for LSU
Kylie Edwards just announced she’s entering the portal. She was the Tigers second leading hitter this year, batting .342 with 10 HRs

Here's was a message board post....
"The transfers brought in this year brought some distinct personalities and created a very divided environment between players who had been there and themselves. People took sides and the exodus has begun." It's if on a message board, it must be true, right???? TIC

Any idea what the problem is down there?
To be sure the Tigers from the SEC has decent money.

Have we not picked up anyone from the portal yet?
Feel like we could use another 2 strong everyday bats and maybe even another pitcher.

SB Amer is only showing 60 commits at this point. Lots of visits happening

For context there are about 310 D1 softball teams so that averages . . .
. . . 3 players per team. Not as dramatic as the raw # seems. There have always been transfers. The portal has just formalized the process. ** Edited by MidloHokie at 6/16/2026, 5:51:07 PM

Interesting take from an FSU fan site on Torres and Beachum leaving
From Chop Chat: "In hindsight, as the emotions die down and logic begins to kick in (sorry, I’m a Virgo). Florida State softball might have made the smartest decision by letting its two best players walk. Here’s a thought. FSU never made the Women’s College World Series with Isa Torres or Jaysoni Beachum on its roster. "Florida State allowing Isa Torres and Jaysoni Beachum to leave might be the best move for the program in the long run "They got ousted from the Tallahassee Regional and didn’t even make Super Regionals with them this past year. Clearly, they are two of the best players nationally, but would paying them whatever they wanted be a smart return on that investment? If FSU did that, they likely couldn’t pay for any proven talent from the transfer portal. "Florida State probably needed at least two more offensive bats with Torres and Beachum in the lineup, and another pitcher that can shut opposing offenses down. I don’t know what their asking price was, but it’s likely over one million dollars for both. "Let’s say it’s $750,000 for each, or $1.5 million. How many quality players can FSU get from the transfer portal for that amount? "If they paid six quality transfers $250,000 each, that would likely fill a lot of needs on the roster. That’s probably a better use of the money than spending on two players leading the program that you haven’t had much success with in the postseason." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- An interesting take, for sure. And, to his point, FSU did sign a big-time hitter, ASUN Player of the Year, Nicole Edmiaston on Friday. She was ASUN Offensive Player of the Year, ASUN All-Tournament Team, and First-Team All-ASUN after hitting .453 last season with 23 HRs. ** Edited by VTChip at 6/16/2026, 10:13:47 AM

This is just return on investment vs. them being problems
The other answer could be byy so other players..... Or just execute better.

If it makes them feel better - go ahead and believe it. But they were NIL'd
out their two best players and they will never see the CWS like they used to unless they toss more money at the SB program. (We are kind of in the same boat unfortunately)... ** Edited by U2Hokie at 6/17/2026, 7:17:23 AM

I think that is a very.......
reasonable take. It is one thing to invest in a pitcher with the potential to control a game from the circle but, an entirely different matter to expect one or two position players to do the same.

Oh boy. Beachum visited Florida & posted a picture in a Florida uniform
The "ultimate betrayal." "If she goes there, it'll erase everything she did in the Garnet and Gold" "In today’s era that rivals are not what they used to be, but that shouldn’t apply to Beachum since she grew up in Tallahassee and has been an FSU fan since birth. The fact that she actually visited Florida State’s biggest in-state rival and put on that nasty orange and blue is disgusting and the ultimate betrayal. It doesn’t matter if she signs there or not; she’s already tainted now." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Those are pretty strong words. Probably not a good idea to post the picture in a Florida uniform. Hope it works out for her.

Really dislike blue & orange together. Any shade of either color in that
combination is just hard on my eyes. Even make sure when I'm wearing my burnt orange VT jersey that I'm not wearing blue pants.

I call it diluting the team instead of boosting the supporting players
If a school is paying that level of money, might as well dig deeper and raise the tide. If a natty is THAT important, of course.

Sounds like an attempt to make themselves feel better
You can’t just shrug off losing two players of that caliber.
