Posting History (895)

Well.

76ers LeBron, Embidd, Maxey, and Brown is the most talent on one team since Curry, Green, Durant, and Klay. Knicks are defending champs with Jalen Brunson and KAT Miami has Giannis and Bam adebayo Pistons are coming off being #1 seed with Cade and Duren Orlando has Banchero and Wagner Cavs have Donovan Mitchell, washed harden, Mobley, and Allen Celtics have Tatum There’s way more depth too. But it might be close.

He’s several years too late unfortunately.

76ers won’t win squat. East is stacked and if they do make it through, they will face the thunder or the Spurs. Not sure if there has ever been more talent in the East.

Any word on Bedford? Figured he’d do the same. Tho he should be given a

Extra year regardless due to Juco. I’d imagine Collins wasn’t treated fairly by fans when he was here, or there was some sort of bad blood when he played against us in 24-25.

Vt leaked to be playing UCF in the non conference mid December.

with ole miss, WVU, Iowa, and now UCF + the Charleston classic which consists of 2 games against any 2 of the following: Dayton (Atlantic 10) Minnesota (Big Ten) Northwestern (Big Ten) Oklahoma State (Big 12) Utah (Big 12) Virginia Tech (ACC) 2 TBD Got one of the toughest non cons in a long time for the Hokies. Hokies will also play the top half of the ACC at home. Going to be great games night in and night out.

Virginia tech to play Wofford in exhibition

In Spartanburg. Very cool but overlaps with Georgia Tech game unfortunately.

We’ve played him once at least. I’m confident that our staff will have a

Better plan against him. And hopefully we won’t be missing our starting PF this time. I was unaware 45 had transferred to the Hawkeyes, and am now less confident that we will prevail. Iowa also returns almost all of their team outside of 2 incoming transfers. I’ll be satisfied if we can compete for a full 40 that game. McCollum is a hell of a coach.

Even if improved, I still view it as a weakness.

I’m not sure we have a guy that can consistently give the other team’s best player an off night. I hope to be wrong, but perimeter defense has been a problem for years now.

Overall talent wise yeah maybe. Our class doesn’t pop off the page but

It fits and will do some things very well. We’ve got guards that can penetrate and forwards that can stretch the floor. Several shooters aswell. Will struggle to guard the perimeter, protect the paint, and rebound against certain matchups. Playing all the most difficult opponents at home raises our chances against them. And…. If you take all of our transfers and returners 3 point makes and misses combined…. It averages to 39% this team SHOULD finally be able to shoot at levels we haven’t seen for several years. Hopefully we beat Iowa or West Virginia in the non con. Iowa plays very slow. We should be able to run in transition against them, but Frazier and Byers will have to have the defense working OT. Maybe cattoor can show the guys how to draw some charges lol.

Ah ha

Got the receipts! I do think 48 is a bit earlier than I expected.

Hmmm NCAA to approve 5 year eligibility proposal…

Obviously hammond, Johnson, Amani, and others etc will have another year, but what happens when the players who just exhausted their eligibility start to sue?? Guys like Isaac mcneely might get another year?

Any doctors here?

Hokies MBB posted some photos to instagram and Amani’s right knee looks like he could have had a variation of patella ACL scaring on his right knee. I was really, really confident those rumors were false but I’m not sure.

He shouldn’t be playing center. He’s also not a tremendous playmaker

I would put him at the power forward position offensively and defensively at the 5. I would go out and get a guy like Rob Williams who is small and can run the 5. Even trading for a guy like sabonis or with his skill set would do wonders. Or you just get him a real physical PF to pair him with. Aaron Gordon maybe?

They play devilishly slow

We should be able to beat able to take care of them early in the season.

Yeah my bad.

They still probably won’t be that high. I’m not familiar with their schedule so it does depend when the matchup is.

They surged at the end of the year and no more kiffin means ole miss might

Have more for Chris Beard or maybe significantly less. I’d imagine he turns it a round and that game will be an early q2 borderline 3 game all year. It’ll probably be a 9pm tip. So we should let students in for free and go from there.

Q1 at home is top 25.

I don’t see UNC being a top 25 team honestly. Most metrics would agree with me aswell.

We basically play all the top projected teams at home. Florida st is away

Gotta hope that they can’t stay top 75. Much of our non conference is unknown at this time. Drew Auburn, SC, and Vanderbilt so far in the SEC challenge so I expect us to get a decent team possibly Missouri or Mississippi St in the challenge this year- AT HOME. Heard we might play in the Charleston Shriners Classic again? Season will come down to not dropping more than 2 that we should win. Snagging a signature home win- probably 2 needed. We are going to play millions of quad 2 games, and not that many q1 games. Virginia twice, Lville, Miami, florida st, and maybe 2 non conference opponents will be our only q1 opponents. 3-3 will be needed there.

I think some sites would have him as a 4 and others would have him as a 3.

If he sees anytime next year it will be because of his defense and potential shooting. Will need to fill out frame of course but he is fairly athletic.

Commitment Commitment

Eltayeb Eltayeb Prep All American!! 6’8 G can space the floor and attack off the dribble 21.3 ppg 4.8 rpg 3.1 apg 1.2 bpg 3pt 61/142 43% 2pt 80/111 72% Ft 77/90 86% Has reportedly grown 5-7 inches in the last year. Very high upside. For those wondering “Eltayeb” translates to “the good one” so I guess you could say this is a “good get”

How is he better?

Ugggfhhh we not throwing strays to Mike young (who runs the lowest funded bball team in the ACC) on the baseball board. And the three of you who liked this are just as bad

I don’t trust teel on this I just don’t

And I think it would have been under the assumption that Mike would have to same NIL as he did. When he ended up losing anywhere from 1-3 million which would have contributed to keeping Neo.

Hansberry isn’t going to slot at the 5 much I don’t think

His best teams have a 4 that can facilitate. With Hansberry and sagnia, you can stretch the floor. With Hansberry and Heide you have a versatile defensive front that can play a limited inside game and push the floor. With Hansberry and Atak you have the best offensive benefits but at the expense of defense and rebounding. That lineup would require Johnson and Elohim. I don’t think we will see this team run much of their half court until December and the sec challenge. Going to be fun

Metrics continue to love this team.

We are now 32nd based on the Barttorvik model…. A good sign

The Metrics so far like this team a lot

Hokies will face a gauntlet at home, but lots of opportunities for good wins. I think this team can hit 20 wins. It’s just going to come down to injuries again. Late game scenarios will be better, but only because it couldn’t get much worse…

Don’t let this squad run in transition…

Curry is coming from Ok st which played at the 9th highest tempo. Heide is coming from San Diego st which played at the 104th highest. Elohim is coming from FAU which played at the 67th highest tempo Hammond and Amani are both built to run aswell. It’s clear what’s going on here👀. If the halfcourt offense never fully clicks, this team could win games with defense and transition offense. I’m also loving the versatility (until someone gets hurt)

I’ve stood by Hammond he’s 5’9

5’11 with shoes on…. Hansberry is 6’6 but 6’8 on the court… Avdalas is 6’7 1/4 barefoot and taller than Hansberry. Good rule of thumb is to subtract abt 2 inch. It does depend tho

Could we be seeing a small ball lineup

1. Hammond 2. Curry 3. Elohim 4. Johnson 5. Hansberry Then heide, atak, jones off the bench. Is this the goal. Curry definitely won’t want to come off the bench? Unless we got funds to make it work?

I think we are done with the frontcourt after adding a starting caliber

center. Need another primary ball handler, and 2 more wings. Just bodies that can play hard or shoot. Both would be nice. PG:1. Hammond 2 ____ SG: 1. Elohim …. 2.___ 3. ____ 4.Hull SF: 1. Johnson. 2. _____ PF: 1. Hansberry 2. Atak 3. Jones C: 1. ____ 2. Heide. 3. Davis

It would appear that you still believe your strawman is a valid?

Am I reading into this bait correctly? Well… I’ll go ahead and explain to you what even AI could: VT and Duke, from both a funding and support perspective, are not even remotely comparable basketball programs. Duke has one of the largest basketball donor bases and support systems in the country, and Vt is near the bottom of the ACC in both. The crazy thing is: I know you know this….. so I’m honestly a little perplexed as to why you picked such different programs to compare. Furthermore, their accolades in their final seasons are very different. Coach K had already amassed 4 national championships before his final season, whereas a final tournament run for Mike Young could alter the way many view his career. He’s 1-7 in the NCAA tournament and hasn’t been for quite some time. You are well aware of this too…. Additionally, In 21-22, Duke had the number 1 pick, 3 first round picks, and a second rounder on coach k’s final team. He already had everything he wanted or could realistically recruit. Mike Young doesn’t have that luxury. If he really wants a player, there’s no “magic money” that will appear, unless he provides it himself… Your strawman also takes away from the principle of my argument (which you have failed to acknowledge). I am simply pointing out that it’s reasonable and realistic (it’s been done by another team before) for Mike Young to contribute some of his own wealth to recruit talent that gives him the best shot of making a tournament run in his final season. I’m honestly shocked that the “best” poster on this board would double down on his own strawman. However, I’m not at all shocked at your attempt to bait me. If I really contributed nothing with my ideology, it probably wouldn’t have resulted in 73 replies 🙂.

Tech Gets a commitment from Ned Hull

6’3 guard from Elon 4.5 ppg 2 rebounds 1 ast Not sure if he’s a a walk on but definitely a depth piece.
