So, no matter how much lipstick you use VT's MBB portal/recruit class is in
Bottom 3rd of ACC most likely bottom 4th.
247 has portal class as #16 and overall #18. I'd like to see how our returnees rank vs rest of ACC. My quick guess is maybe top of 2nd 3rd -7th? Maybe 5th.
Can MY make more from less?

He may actually have more fun with this group: low expectations, growth potential. Some of these players are young and could take a big step forward.
We probably end up in the bottom third of the conference, but we might do better.

Yea, our BB budget is bottom half, but we should still be better than we have been under his tenure. Teams with less do more.

That’s some serious disrespect.
On paper I’d concede we lack depth in the frontcourt. But the backcourt and starters seem decent enough to compete and finish higher than that. I don’t know what any other teams look like but I’d be willing to bet we don’t finish no 18th. That’s crazy.

It fits and will do some things very well.
We’ve got guards that can penetrate and forwards that can stretch the floor. Several shooters aswell. Will struggle to guard the perimeter, protect the paint, and rebound against certain matchups. Playing all the most difficult opponents at home raises our chances against them.
And…. If you take all of our transfers and returners 3 point makes and misses combined…. It averages to 39% this team SHOULD finally be able to shoot at levels we haven’t seen for several years.
Hopefully we beat Iowa or West Virginia in the non con. Iowa plays very slow. We should be able to run in transition against them, but Frazier and Byers will have to have the defense working OT. Maybe cattoor can show the guys how to draw some charges lol.

I’m not sure we have a guy that can consistently give the other team’s best player an off night. I hope to be wrong, but perimeter defense has been a problem for years now.
