Actual transfer with nice stats" SF Caden Diggs from UMBC. Is CMY and staff
pursuing? Don't know but he's still available in a dwindling ACC potential player market.

as they could get. But since you know more than the VT staff about basketball, I'll just defer to your extensive knowledge on this player.

for everyone around the country because of the potential 5 by 5 rule from the NCAA, which would give all athletes five years of eligibility over five years. I think many are unsure if players from 2025-26 will be grandfathered in, which complicates things.
From ESPN last week:
"The Division I Cabinet, the most influential powerbrokers in collegiate sports, could vote on the measure in May and it could be implemented as early as June. That means college basketball players who were seniors this season may get another year to play. That's potentially problematic for teams that have tried to finalize their rosters now that the transfer portal is closed and most of the key available players have committed to teams."
Every coach in the country is dealing with this and contemplating this right now. Imagine if Tobi Lawal magically has another year of eligibility? North Carolina's Seth Trimble? On the women's side, Kilah Freelon or Mel Daley?
UNC's added four players. UVa's added ... zero. (Obviously, has a lot more coming back than VT.) Here's what the ACC looks like:
- 8 adds: Pitt
- 7 adds: BC*
- 6 adds: UofL
- 5 adds: FSU, GT*, NCSU*, Cuse*, WF
- 4 adds: Cal, Miami, UNC, ND
- 3 adds: Clem, SMU, VT
- 2 adds: Duke
- 0 adds: Stan, UVa
* - New coach
VT's close to the middle. But also, can be tough to know who VT is pursuing. All three commits in Atok, Heide and Elohim were pretty quiet, under-the-radar recruitments. So, VT is attacking; just isn't necessarily all over the place on who the staff is targeting. But then you factor in the potential eligibility changes and it would be pure chaos if that passes. Just the uncertainty of it all across the board, even for coaches trying to assemble a roster for next season.
Just some thoughts on how chaotic of a time it currently is across this landscape. Makes it even more difficult when you're trying to play moneyball throughout all of this.

Right now uva hasn’t targeted a backup C and PG. Odom has kept everything tight to the chest so far, but there has been some euro rumblings again, as well as some chatter uva is hoping that the waiver comes through.
If it does, UVA could look at adding Dallin Hall (starting PG) and Ugonna Oyenso, basically the starting C back into the fold, on top of Mallory, Lewis, de Ridder and Grunloh.
I heard about the possibility of something going through and the staff was aware in March, so it seems things being slow is a feature, not a bug for a number of teams at this point.

made the rule start with the 2027-28 academic year and didn't mess up the portal this offseason, but I don't believe they're that smart.
The free-for-all this would cause if you suddenly had like 1,000 new players in the portal...

his situation might be slightly different since the only reason he played last year at VT was because he got a JUCO waiver. It's making my brain hurt thinking about his situation.

He will be desired by some elite teams as a depth piece.
