Any doctors here?
Hokies MBB posted some photos to instagram and Amani’s right knee looks like he could have had a variation of patella ACL scaring on his right knee. I was really, really confident those rumors were false but I’m not sure.

The original thing we heard when he got hurt was ACL.
Fortunately it didn't turn out to be a torn ACL as we feared. At least that's my understanding. Maybe I'm wrong. I don't know what the injury was exactly. About a month ago I saw him browsing books in the history section of Barnes & Noble. He wasn't on crutches or anything, and he seemed fine. ** Edited by Chris Coleman at 6/18/2026, 7:47:11 AM

It's different for everyone, but from someone with 2 ACL surgeries...
... from balling out at McComas: - I walked the day after both surgeries and never had a brace - I had allograph procedures (not a patella tendon) - I was allowed to jog in a straight line within a month - the last thing I was cleared to do was aggressive cutting, stopping, changing direction at about 6 months Given how far out he would be from a procedure in March, I'm not surprised by any of this. I've learned the key to healthy ACLs are strong hamstrings.

You saw him at the bookstore too? I think he found a good read.

Mike Young’s camp
I saw him three days this week at Mike Young’s bball camp. For ages 15 and under. Most of our players work as camp counselors. Amari was not wearing any brace or support item anywhere on his body. He was moving around freely and draining 3 pointers with ease. But like the other counselors there wasn’t any running, jogging or cutting. Clearly he was not pushing it but at the same time he wasn’t experiencing any discomfort.

Way too early for key injuries
VT MBB usually waits until October :-(

The hard rumors were probably right, which most of us thought
were correct. Going to be hard to predict his health going into the first and middle part of this season. We most likely got him at a discount this year

By most of us…. You mean GCHokie and his cult following?
Because he was the ONLY source

Based on what i have read on this board, he has probably forgotten more
About basketball than most on here will ever know, including me.

I think GCHokie has a lot of worth basketball wise (when not being snarky)

I expect him to be useful by the time ACC play comes around.
I'm less sure about the non-conference schedule, but that does not look super competitive thus far. He was injured in early 2026 and after 9 months of recovery/strength training he should be able to play with confidence. I am speaking from the experience of having ACL reconstruction myself, but I am not a doctor. After 9 months, I could do pretty much anything I did before and he is certainly getting more extensive conditioning/care. All that said, I do not expect him to put up the same numbers this year. The numbers might still be great, but we probably will not see so many double-doubles. There's a mental hurdle that you have to get over to play with 100% confidence against physical opponents that I don't think you can simulate in practice and training. On the other hand, if he plays with a nice brace, that can provide an immense amount of security and confidence (like nothing happened, you just have to get used to the feel of the brace). Only time will tell, but I'm hopeful. He's not one to back down. He's a bully on the court and I don't see this changing that mentality. P.S. Below is a picture from his medical team post-op. They are saying this is him flexing after his historic W over the ACL reconstruction.
