Posting History (92)

It's different for everyone, but from someone with 2 ACL surgeries...

... from balling out at McComas: - I walked the day after both surgeries and never had a brace - I had allograph procedures (not a patella tendon) - I was allowed to jog in a straight line within a month - the last thing I was cleared to do was aggressive cutting, stopping, changing direction at about 6 months Given how far out he would be from a procedure in March, I'm not surprised by any of this. I've learned the key to healthy ACLs are strong hamstrings.

I swear I heard them say this about Forbes on a broadcast this year...

I don't think it's a secret. If there is someone else in mind, that I haven't heard, but I'm pretty sure they mentioned Forbes doing that on air during the second WF/VT game.

That was not my take at all

We took bad shots in transition as well. TOs seems like the biggest issue in the first half.

Disagree. Dorn on D has already been a huge upgrade to PW.

Watching PW watch people get layups or dunks in front of him as he trailed behind them because he was out of position was the norm.

MBB flair in a Monday Thoughts??? Color me excited!

You're welcome to do that more often as we get deeper into the season... ;-)

Check out sportsurge

sportsurge.net There are pop-ups, but it has links to many different sites streaming hundreds of sporting events.

I see he is a Nike kid, Team Durantâ€Ļ

Will that help us at all given that UMD is UA? I know the opposite situation has worked against us with recruits before;will this one help the good guys?

Lots to like there...

He can finish with either hand, caught some tough passes (including on the move), looked like he could facilitate from the elbow and looked very confident taking that 3 off the ball screen. There was not a single defensive highlight, so I'll assume that's not his calling card. Purely from an offensive standpoint, he looks like he brings a lot to the table. But then again, Wessler's biggest shortcomings were not on the offensive end either, though he had many shortcomings there as well ;-)

CMY on Twitter is more encouraging than anything out of the VTAD (link)

Say what you will about CMY (personally I like him), but he's demonstrating more accountability and leadership than we are seeing from the athletic administration. I appreciated hearing his perspective, expectations and confidence.

If I'm portalling, shouldn't I wait until after the NCAAs to commit?

There are 16 big spenders, for the most part, remaining. If I'm in the portal and I'm good, shouldn't I wait to see if there is interest from one of those teams? Or am I thinking about this wrong? ** Edited by Bmackattack at 3/26/2025, 11:27:43 AM

Wessler is really good at batting balls, even in unconventional situations

I watched him bat a clean defensive rebound (where his man was cleanly boxed out) directly out of bounds during the ND game.

Anything could have happened

Could have reinjured the same knee (e.g., ACL, PCL, MCL, meniscus, etc.) Could have injured his other knee or another part of the same leg due to overcompensating from the initial injury. We won't know. It's up to him, his family and his doctors if they want to share any details because as hokiepro says.... ya know... HIPAA

Watched him from ~10 rows behind the VT bench in early January...

He is noticeably limping. It was apparent when running layup lines before each half and I could even see it when he bounded off the bench for a timeout. I don't know what lower extremity is bothering him, but he does have a noticeable "hitch in his giddyup." I'm assuming that is contributing to a lack of mobility and thus a lack of playing time.

Can't agree - plays like a 3rd string C

He is perpetually out of position on the defensive end. When he's in the game, just watch other teams toy with him and manipulate him. No fault on the kid, he's just not that good. Seems like he tries hard and is a good teammate, but we should lower the bar on expectations. I try to count how many times he claps his hands after a bad play, puts his head down, and runs to the other end of the court. Take a shot each time and you'll be hammered before the game ends!

Disagree - Pedula would be the best player on this team

Cattoor and Kidd would be top 4 as well. Lawal is the only one on the current roster that would fit into the top 4 over the last two years. ** Edited by Bmackattack at 1/16/2025, 6:49:24 PM

It was obvious that when Stanford stopped missing wide open shots we'd be..

in trouble. Sure enough in the second half, all those open looks were no longer bricks.

Was at the game last night and noticed 2 things in particular

That was the first MBB game I've attend this season and was able to sit maybe 10 rows behind the VT bench. I'm not a baller, just as you could see on tv, the stadium was not close to full. Apparently Stanford cares about MBB like they do football... 1) After every single time Rech did something poorly, and there were ample examples last night, he looks over at CMY and makes a quick comment about how it wasn't his fault. That time he ran up the court against a set Stanford D, dribbled and jacked up a shot without a single pass and 20 seconds left on the shotclock? That was because his fellow guard didn't cut enough. That time on D where he let his man use his strong hand to blow right by him from the top of the key and get to the rim? That was because he was anticipating a screen that would never come. 2) RBJ really bogs things down. I understand he's not a PG and I understand he shouldn't be asked to be the floor general, but man does he dribble and man is he unafraid of taking any shot. After every offensive set he would lock eyes with CMY who would yell to "pass the ball." He would nod and then do the same thing again the next time on O. If Hammond is out for a while (they didn't announce his injury at the game but he was in a boot and only observing), I think we need a better answer than RBJr or he needs to learn real fast.

Pedulla and Kidd would make a huge difference on this team

I think Collins and Nickel have been replaced by Burnham and TJ respectively with our current duo being more well-rounded. Pedulla is much more efficient this year - shooting at a higher clip, fewer turnovers at the same minutes Kidd is not getting as many shots, but has a high FG%. He's the same dude. Collins isn't shooting as much nor is he playing as much. He's much more efficient from the field, but he's turning it over more and recording fewer assists in less minutes. Nickel still only makes 40% from the field and does little else.
