SMU's best player Boopie Miller was out for Duke.Anyone heard anything
about his injury status for Wednesday? He is their star PG averaging 20 pts/7 assists

Who is in their first month not only of basketball games but being at practice at all and have them guard Boopie Miller isnt a good idea
I get people are interested in the story, but I am not expecting Peterkin to ever play a meaningful minute in basketball in his college career

it is for defense purposes only. Someone that could run with Miller, give Hammond a breather, and provide could provide foul relief. Maybe even draw a foul or two.

But while he might be able to navigate screens and stay in front of Miller he is going to have zero clue how to defend as part of a unit. That alone makes everyone else worse defenders...making any positive he brings moot. Saying nothing about how horrible it would look on the offensive end.
Tyreek Hill could guard Miller in a vacuum, probably. But even he couldnt walk on the floor in any major conference and provide any game value. You dont get to be specialized in basketball, you will be exposed

but only the coach knows if it has any chance to work. He has seen him in practice, I have not. I trust in Coach Young implicitly. All the comments indicate we have zero chance if Miller plays. We need a short term stopgap solution. I am sure other players could provide emergency help, but I am concerned about the twitch level to cover this guy.

Peterkin is on the basketball roster as a gesture to Brent Pry recruiting Peterkin that gave VT a leg up on competition who would be (rightfully) reticent to let someone play both basketball and football
Since the roster is expanded and the scholarship rules are different, it hurts MY none to keep him as a practice body
But make no mistake, unless he completely quits football, he will never play any kind of role on the basketball team

Watching him shoot live in warmups at the Cal game... he actually has a nice looking shot. Granted I only watched him take a handful of shots.. 3 of those 3 ptrs, and he hit them all. 100% realize we could probably grab multiple guys outta the stands that can walk out there and hit 3 in a row.. anyway, he's obviously an athletic kid, but at this level.. I definitely agree, he's likely never going to see the floor unless he were to be 100% focused on baseball and even then there's really no guarantee.

it was crazy that he contributed useful minutes. He was one of the biggest guys on the football field but looked small on the court compared to people guarding him.

Clemson won because they are the most physical team in our conference.
SMU is not very deep, outside of the standout performances from some of their players that kept them within striking distance against Duke, it’s going to be their starting 5 doing most of their dirty work.
No one on our roster can guard Boopie, so I’m hoping he won’t be available. If he does play expect a heavy mid range game and a lot of free throws from him. He looks for the continuation and Bedford/ Hammond will be baited into lots of fouls. He’s also a pesky defender. Boopie is going to be All ACC first team this year.
If he plays we likely have no chance, without him Hokies will need a great shooting night to have a chance.

MBB goes down Tuesday, back Wednesday night. WBB goes down Wednesday (and will go to MBB game from what I've been told), back Thursday night. Unfortunately, you can't just put everyone on one plane.

But I imagine women might opt for a commercial flights rather than disrupt their normal practice/prep schedule
They would have to leave Blacksburg at the very latest Tuesday for a Thursday game which isnt ideal. But with it still being winter break it might not matter
