I wonder if his new school will endlessly debate his greatness?

I truely wish the best for Pat. He has worked his tail off at VT. His
parents have been the best supporters of VT. God Bless and I hope this Hokie get a good Grad Degree where he can have fun.

Methinks he's saw the writing on the wall.
It says Christian Gurdak and Ryan Jones jr. on it. I'm excited about our front court players next season.

Agreed. From what I could see, he handled himself with class
while he was here despite not getting the playing time he desired and worked hard for. Hats off to Pat and absolutely best wishes he finds a great landing spot.

Hope he does well wherever he winds up...
I think it's a move most teams would make given the current construction of the roster and what the needs are He showed a lot of improvement and has more improving to do

I hope he does great wherever he goes. He represented the university well

Agree- this move to a team that can use him will help his development
Hope he has worked hard on academics and is close to his VT degree…he and his family love VT❀️

Help in his development into what? It's not like he's going to the NBA.
He'll likely improve slightly wherever he goes. But unless he goes to a much smaller, lesser program, he will still either be a backup 5 at a bigger school or an average (at best) 5 starter at decent smaller program. For his sake, I hope he's past thinking about "developing" and instead makes his choice based on what maximizes what he wants to get out of playing basketball for two more years. ** Edited by marcbvtgm at 3/17/2025, 6:45:47 PM ** Edited by marcbvtgm at 3/17/2025, 6:49:00 PM

such a cynic
Did you quit dreaming at age 21? He obviously loves the sport and will get every last ounce of enjoyment, and whatever financial benefit he can, out of it until his eligibility is up. Why does every damned thing have to be so transactional in discussions on this board (and others)? It must be sad having such a negative POV.

Well, I stopped dreaming of being an NBA player when I was 14.
Yet I still enjoyed playing and I still practiced at the game. But I set my goals accordingly. I'm not a cynic. I'm just not a message board cliche machine. "Development" is a message board cliche which accurately applies to very few - particularly in this era of college sports. What I am saying is that in the real world, Wexler isn't going to the NBA. He's no longer a "project" and there is nothing more to develop. But he can absolutely still enjoy himself. I'm saying he should figure out what will make him happiest basketball-wise for the next two years and go in that direction. If he wants to play against high level competition, but play limited minutes...great. If he still wants to test himself but wants to play against somewhat lesser competition and maybe split time...great. If wants to be the man and decides to drop down in competition a couple of levels...great. But if chooses to go somewhere because he thinks it will be best to "develop" his game, he's chasing fool's gold. ** Edited by marcbvtgm at 3/18/2025, 12:55:32 PM

There's 3.9pts a game we'll never get back - 16 pts/avg gone today (total)

Actually it's more likely VT gets those 16 pts back and then some.
The glass is 70% full, not the other way around.

So we won’t recruit someone(s) averaging more than 16 total?
Hmmm. πŸ€”

We can get three to fill the void.
