In the podcast, they mentioned that Neo just walked when the season ended. So he just stops going to class, and leaves town. Has all online classes??? Just wondering how that works with academic issues?????
Then he transfers to that revered institution of higher learning, UNC. So athletes just do whatever now in regards to class and making moves toward a degree???

at all there. He wasn't there to "play school" I guess.

He said he wasn't taking classes over winter break...like...every other college kid in America, including at VT. But of course once a sound byte is out there, facts stop mattering. I can't stand Miami and wouldn't consider myself a fan of Beck's but he doesn't deserve to have his words twisted to his detriment.

Was this a misevaluation or did he really think he would have a 2 year window? In either case VT lost and Neo is laughing all the way to the bank.

Neo another NIL to stay but was outbid by the Tarheels. why offer to pay a large sum of money to a player who the coach felt was not performing well enough to play in the last five minutes of the crucial game against the Deacons?

not because of his skills but because of the contractual universe we live in. If Neo had come to VT for 2 years it would have been a great deal. He learns in year 1 and performs in year 2. That is CMY’s philosophy.
Instead VT paid the price to train him and now he will perform for someone else. What a waste. I feel badly for CMY. He deserves better. I am hoping that he and VT have learned something from this experience.

more than most, but it looked to me he regressed as the season progressed. We just didn’t develop him IMO. It’s like we thought he’d just have the Providence game every night.

They take what they learned and work on their game in the off season.

retention bonus? set whatever number will get the deal done over a 2-year period but have 60%+ come in year 2 or after the transfer period between years 1 and 2. The market doesn't allow that, but it would be nice.

And I think it would have been under the assumption that Mike would have to same NIL as he did. When he ended up losing anywhere from 1-3 million which would have contributed to keeping Neo.

this off the cuff. Doubt it.

believe the charade of the student athlete like it is still 1950 or even 2010?
I mean I am so so so over caring the least about classes or academic progress of these kids. It is like maybe , at best, the 115th most hypocritical thing going on in college athletics today.

For their course load in the spring. Even if all the credits dont transfer he has 2 summer semesters to make up whatever he might have missed or didn't transfer before needing to be academically eligible.
I dont know Avdalas's specific situation but it wouldn't be shocking for him to have been in all/mostly online courses

With Carolina's strict academic standards, this paper only netted him a B-.
