I’d like to hear opinions on how the lineup will be working next year
Starting Lineup PG Hammond SG Elohim SF Johnson PF Hansberry C Sagina Heide has more experience as a starter and against college athletes, but I feel sagina will work better with Hansberry but could go either way Bench Heide Curry Atak Jones These 4 should be in the rotation heavily and if Davis can contribute to defense then he should join the rotation as well Davis Hull These 2 are wild cards, Hull could help, or find himself on the bench

Here is my take on who gets the most minutes:
Hammond - I'd expect to average over 30 min. a game with Curry getting the rest at PG. Johnson - I'd expect to be close to 30 as well, Atak will get most of the rest unless we sign another wing. Hansberry - Should be next around 28 min. a game with Atak getting most of the rest. Elohim - Should be next with say 26 min. with Curry getting some and perhaps Hull a few? Heide - Should be in low 20s; he and Sangia will get most of the 40 with Jones getting maybe 5-6 a game. Sangia - 6th most say 18 min. Atak - 7th say 15 min. Curry - 8th say 14 min, The above will be 8 man rotation, unless we take another wing or get a surprise breakout by Jones or someone else. My bet is no one else gets double digit minutes unless due to an injury to the above 8. Thoughts?

Is Hansbury getting those minutes even if knee okay to play?

Jones could get double-digit minutes if he stays healthy or if someone else
doesn't. I think we have 9 players who can contribute (and expect we will add another 1 or 2 - likely HS recruits) so we can practice with 10 healthy guys.

Hull probably won't see much action outside of blowouts.

I’m counting on him being the next Fletcher McGhee 🙄

I'd settle for Bobby McGee.
At this point, we've got nothing left to lose.

I think Heidi will start but regardless he and Sagina will split minutes
Otherwise I think you’re spot on. I think we’re going to need another shooter and a developmental PG like when we got Hammond a few years ago.

The most important effect of these transfer centers is allowing Amani
to play at the 4, which is his natural position. Allows him to be more effective on the offensive end, while not having to defend the other team's 5.

2026-2027 Basketball Hammond - a star- needed ball in h
Hammond - a star- needed ball in hands more than the Greek fail - our 1 for lots of minutes Hansberry- 4 who will be forced to play 5 with roster - huge upside and keeping him was huge Johnson- injury really hurt us defense and offense - will me our 3 and with Curry a big upgrade - could be a huge breakout for him! Elohim > Avadelos this is no brainer, major upgrade at 2 with Curry and point play too - awesome Top 50 recruit who should be starting 2 Curry = Bedford - longer defender with similar offense potential - 1 or 2 probably… interesting lineup as 3 Heide / Sagnia > Dorn / Gurdak Sagnia is Athletic, good defender — it’s too bad we didnt retain one of those big guys - Sagnia prob starts at 5 with Heide being key defender at 4 and 5. Solomon Davis hopefully being healthy and able to play quality minutes with his athleticism - Sagnia understanding system is a key I think Atak < Lawal Lose some here but a guy will will play a lot for sure - long, decent shooter - def 3 or 4 in rotation with Hansberry, Heide and Johnson Hull = Shutt Good shooter - a little longer - good 2 in rotation with Elohim and Curry. Would be great to have one of the young recruits at center or another big man portal pickup - This team is talented - replacing two good, young centers and Lawal is the key

How is Hull longer than Shutt 6-5 vs 6-3? similar question with Bedford 6-4
vs Curry 6 -1? Is it wing span or do you mean quicker more athletic?

There’s a lot of weird comparisons in this post
Elohim < Bedford, this is a like for like replacement from an offensive perspective but a major downgrade defensively. Bedford had years of starting experience and production, Elohim barely saw the floor two years ago. Curry < Avdalas, he should be a good rotational guard and will be much better one on one defensively, but he’s just as bad a shooter and 8 inches shorter which will really hurt team defense. Neo is going to pop off for UNC this year Schutt > Atak, these are the “shooters” and Ataks height is intriguing but he has barely played in his career Lawal >>> Sagnia, Tobi was an all around player last year and the best shot blocker we’ve had in decades, Sagnia literally can only do 1 thing and that’s block shots. Heidi = Gurdak, we’ll get better rebounding out of Heide but his offensive game on the block is severely limited compared to CG Basically we can’t afford any injuries this year. Last year we dealt with a ton of guys missing time and still would’ve made the tournament in an expanded version ** Edited by soflahokie at 5/11/2026, 6:24:36 AM

If Elohim > Bedford, then NCAAs. Else, NIT.

Agree mostly with your take here - other than Elohim
I think he could very possibly be as good or better than Bedford. He will improve from soph to jr year. Bedford did have experience, at unlv. I think Atuk and Sagnia's improvement will be critical. Maybe 1 or both takes a big jump in year 2, a lot of guys do. Atuk was a composite 4 star, who was raw. He and Elohim (top 75 recruit) are the types of guys who often make big leaps, and with our limited budget, that is what we banked on. Sagnia will be a soph, but he is 22 years old, from Gambia. Hopefully ater a year of US college ball he adjusts and improves as well. ** Edited by vtfin91 at 5/11/2026, 2:39:45 PM

Hansberry isn’t going to slot at the 5 much I don’t think
His best teams have a 4 that can facilitate. With Hansberry and sagnia, you can stretch the floor. With Hansberry and Heide you have a versatile defensive front that can play a limited inside game and push the floor. With Hansberry and Atak you have the best offensive benefits but at the expense of defense and rebounding. That lineup would require Johnson and Elohim. I don’t think we will see this team run much of their half court until December and the sec challenge. Going to be fun

I'd even postulate that CMY wouldn't want Amani at the 5 at all, unless
it's a very special offense being run

Davis is still in the development stage..
He is a true rim protector and that is the value he presents. But he very much needs to get stronger to battle posts. His offense is limited. When he gets stronger, then he will have a chance to earn some minutes. Although he lacks strength, I like his competitive streak. He is not soft. He might need strength to better compete but I like the competitive temperament he brings and he doesn’t run from the fight

That’s pretty much
Jones / Sagnia / Heide are all basically throwing mid at the wall and see if Sagnia or jones develops, heide is a solid known quantity, Sagnia gives a different look with the 3ball … depth … Hammond / Elohim / curry can all three play together if needed, I think curry will like you said spell Hammond but they will also play together Another wing to add depth but that’s basically our 8-9 man rotation, with room for 1-3 injuries, it’s pretty solid The whole “starters” vs “bench” thing doesn’t really matter as a guy like curry might not start but could still play more than half the game So what I see is a lot of room for matchup-based changes in the front court and backcourt, ability to go big or go small … should be interesting .. better shooting team than last year for sure ..

Agree on the stater reference. This roster so far will be relevant for who
finishes, not necessarily for who starts.
