It was just a given for alot of them ( depending on major) that it would take 4+ years to graduate, or some really heavy class loads during their off season, and or summer school. Now I see these kids go to 2 different schools in 2 years and in 2.5 years have graduated and are working on a post graduate degree. Also if you transferred in those days there was always in danger of credits from one school to another not being accepted by the new school. None of those things seem to be a factor anymore. When was the last time you heard of an athlete “ flunking out” of school ? That too was a legitimate concern then. It makes one wonder, is it some serious grade inflation, are these people graduating with devalued degrees or heaven forbid are athletes just being given an easier path to a diploma? Although this seems to be prevalent across entire student population.
