Plays at literally one of the smallest football playing schools in Va which is a tiny class 1 school. Has zero business being a 3 star kid and easily a 4 star and higher ranked if at a school with decent size. Whenever you see a kid ranked in the top 15 in about any state that plays at the smallest level of classification, they are often underrated. All of his measurables (which can be searched) fall into the 4 star category. All of his school population puts him into the 2 star category. I heard one hour ago that he is likely WVU bound. A coach (not VT) on another site indicated his offer was based on an individual evaluation. I got the impression he was from a remote area and without competition necessary to build ratings. Regardless, if he commits to VT then he was greenlit to take the offer and Coach Moore was adequately satisfied with the potential. What I found interesting is he MAY have been panicked by Buchanan’s sudden commit, in which case, there are several other OL prospects that will be feeling some heat.

there are too many OLs on the board to take Lawson…just his feeling, not inside info. On another note Jeremiah Culpepper (4* LB visiting 6/5) is no longer taking a visit to LSU. Said to be favoring Auburn (OV 6/19) but at least we get a pitch. Ditto that for Glover who’s still on the OV list. Hope springs….

I guess we're already spoiled LoL. For reference point the kid at number 14 in the state right behind him is also an offensive lineman, and he is committed to Ohio State. Meanwhile arguably the number one OT on our board is ranked 5th in the state of Ohio and doesn't hold an Ohio State offer. I guess what I'm trying to say is, if your coaches think an offensive lineman is a take, you'll just have to trust their judgement, and you'll find out two to three years later if the kid is any good. As for LBs, that's definitely a need, but I don't see any connection between taking this kid's commit and recruiting LBs. Meaning signing him isn't preventing us from landing a 4* LB. That's presumably Brent Pry's department, and it appears even with Franklin's help we're a tough sell to LB recruits right now. At least we got a few in last year's recruiting class that should pan out, and there is always the portal.
