Dogs, man. If you’ll indulge me, I have a feel-good story to share
Quick backstory: Couple months ago, a neighbor and good friend passed suddenly of a heart attack. Less than 2 years ago, he had his first grandchild, a boy, who he loved dearly and was extremely proud of. If I was outside playing with my dog, he’d routinely bring his grandson over to watch. As the grandson became more cognizant of his surroundings in recent months, I’d let him pet my little girl and he’d instantly smile.
Fast forward to last evening. I was again playing ball with my girl in the yard. Across the street the widowed wife was walking with the grandson. She brought him over and my dog instantly greeted him, licking his hand. He giggled. The wife then leaned over to rub my dog’s head. When she stood back up, she was smiling. The first time I personally had seen her smile since that fateful day. I tell ya, my heart melted away. She then grabbed her grandson’s hand and turned to walk away but looked back and while still smiling softly said, “Thank you”. Despite the lump in my throat I somehow got out, “You’re welcome. Have a nice evening”.
Dogs, man.

Been watching neighbor kids play street hockey all spring
From my deck while enjoying a beverage. Absolutely love it.

Correct. One of Flyers losses must be in regulation.
They can’t get more than 1 point total in 2 games.

Sorry for your loss. Your father lived a heck of a life
Kudos to him for his longevity and his accomplishments.

Wore one 2 weeks ago unfortunately. Funeral for long time neighbor
Suit and tie was widow’s request when I asked what she’d like me to wear.
Miss that guy. He had a big personality and a jovial tone in his booming voice. Still can’t believe he’s gone. (Heart attack)

Saw him jam with a couple of guys at a party 25+ years ago
Ex worked in the missile defense industry and it was one of her co-worker’s party. Small gathering. Around 30 people. Jeff picked up a guitar and played with another guy on guitar and one on drums. Was awesome.

Watched the game. Probably best D they played all season
Sabres couldn’t get into any offensive flow.
Too bad Caps can’t play like that more often.

Good point
Unfortunately my hunch is that his conference record will be better than MY’s next year. He’s got some good players coming in.

Same. Someone started cutting a bunch of onions then.
Especially when one grabbed dad’s jersey for the pic.

I’ll only be putting 6k or less on my Telly so I hope to keep it a while
Possibly until they take my license away in fact.

Bought a 25 SX (non-X Line) in Dec 24
So far, so good. Of course all the safety measures you’d ever want, and some you might want to disable. 2nd row captain’s seats are a fan favorite with passengers. I generally fold 3rd row down for lots of storage space.
FWIW, my mechanic gave it 2 thumbs up. Told me to change the oil every 5k and disable the auto stop when idle and it wouldn’t cause me any issues.
Good luck!

There’s nothing like playoff hockey. Except OT playoff hockey
Every shift is do or die.

Great! Charleston has always been high on our list of next moves
However we’re still here until Mrs. Burke decides to retire.

Great actor. We were at same restaurant night I got engaged many moons ago
Briefly thought about asking him to play a part in it but he was eating dinner so I left him alone.

Yep. Who didn’t see this coming?
It happens every season. Pull off the big upset. Follow it up with a complete dud and lose a “should win” game.
MY is a sub .500 coach in ACC play. We have a large enough sample size to make that determination. So outcomes like this week are to be expected. It is what it is.

RIP Sonny. I’ll share my favorite story about him from 10 or so years ago
Was at a card show in Chantilly waiting in line to get an autograph from him. Guy in front of me had an 8X10 photo of him playing the Fins that he wanted signed. When he met Sonny, he mistakenly thought the photo was from Super Bowl 7 which Sonny didn’t play in due to injury. Sonny corrected him and said photo was from 74 game at RFK and that he led a late rally to win. Guy didn’t seem to care so he took his signed photo and bailed. Then it was my turn.
I stepped up and said, “I want to hear more about the 74 game”, realizing Sonny wanted to talk more about it. He leaned back in his chair, chewed on his cigar, and proceeded to describe the game-winning TD drive play by play, complete with huddle conversations. I later looked up Washington Post accounts of the game and his recollection was perfect. Funniest note was about the guy who caught the winning TD, Larry Smith. At one point in the drive, Larry returned to the huddle and told Sonny, “I think I broke my leg”. Sonny told him, “Like hell you did. We got a game to win. You’re staying in!” Sure enough, accounts showed he did indeed break a bone in his leg before scoring winning TD.
Sonny was great at everything. Rest easy sir.

Met the team (except for Pavelich & Brooks) at Dulles Expo Center in 2015
Team autographed photo of the celebration after win over the Russkies hangs front and center in the man cave. What a fun and engaging bunch of guys. Without question a top 5 memory in my personal life history.
Side note: Wore a Caps t-shirt that day. Mark Johnson remarked, “Caps fan huh?” I responded in the affirmative and in reference to the Stanley Cup added that I was “hoping for one more miracle in my lifetime”. Mark threw his head back in laughter.
Needless to say, I got that 2nd miracle later.

There you go. Agree with all, especially last paragraph
I’m confident that this offense will look similar to PSU, running to set up the pass. If the running game is good and a threat, the pass protection will be a recipient of lots of help.

Bird fans: Had a neat view of a red-tailed hawk yesterday
Was driving in a rural part of the county and noticed the hawk take off from a tree in a ravine to my right. For a few seconds, we were moving in the same direction, side by side, at essentially eye level due to topography. Watched it through my passenger side window as it was gliding and surveying the landscape below it.
Unique perspective of a majestic bird.

Remember ordering a CD directly from him.
He autographed the case. I still have it but the auto has faded. Robbin was great.
