You will get a lot more for your $ with Kia/Hyundai but they won't last much past 100,000 miles. My strategy now is to buy them new and not drive them past 100k miles. We now put ~12k miles per year so I plan to own my current Hyundai Palisade for 8 years. I bought it new in December, got the 2025 model at a really good price. I bought a Kia Soul for my daughter when she went to college. Engine died at 120,000 miles. Kia replaced it under warranty. She got another 60,000 miles out of that engine then it died. I bought a 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe. Engine died with 125,000 miles. Hyundai replaced it under warranty. That happened in Fall of 2025. I bought new Hyundai Palisade a few months later. If you don't get oil changed at dealer, save your receipts. You will need them if the engine dies early. I recommend using the dealer for oil changes so they have record.

And that is precisely why, like you, I have all the maintenance done at the dealership. One question for you - have any of your engine failures been in a 6 cylinder? I know they have had numerous issues with their 4-cylinder engines, but I haven't heard much about the 6-cylinder engines. Our Sorento is a V6.

Hop on a Facebook Santa Fe owners group and it won't be long before you come across a post with an early engine failure followed by many comments of users with a similar experience. Probably same experience for a Sorento owners group.

So far, so good. Of course all the safety measures you’d ever want, and some you might want to disable. 2nd row captain’s seats are a fan favorite with passengers. I generally fold 3rd row down for lots of storage space. FWIW, my mechanic gave it 2 thumbs up. Told me to change the oil every 5k and disable the auto stop when idle and it wouldn’t cause me any issues. Good luck!

But doesn’t like the much lower MGP than the 2019 Forester traded in. Good in snow but not equal to the Subaru. Took the same path picking up the leftover bs 2027. Lexus GX 460. Get a 3-5 year old one with a good Carfax. They will run 300,000 miles if you change the oil and rotate the tires

I don’t think you can beat a Toyota or Lexus. My 4Runner was 9 and a half years old with 166,000 miles. I hated to see it go, especially because the prices have escalated so much since I bought mine new.

Looks and drives like brand new. Driver's seat has some wear. But that is it! 150,000 + miles
