Refusing to go inside Bucees makes for more funny conversation than going
inside could ever accomplish. The decision not to enter a Bucees has been optimal. I don't always live life to the fullest but I most certainly on this particular issue.

I have never and will never go inside a Bucees. I have been in the parking
while my family braved the Mt Crawford, VA Buc'ees.

I don't even think it will take that for him to get a lot of criticism.
LB's are likely one of the weakest position groups on the team. Criticism is inevitable. Heck, if Pry doesn't get a ton of criticism this season, it's a great sign that we're nearing playoff contention IMO.

Nostalgia. Back in our day, players were more likely to play for a team or
two in their career. Most, by default, like the things the way they were during their formative years and can't wrap their heads around it being different.

Dumbbells for life. Lift smarter not harder. Work out today so you can work out tomorrow. I've heard too many stories of people tearing a pec on a mere 135 to 200 pounds. My warm up is loooooong to try to prevent injuries.

Tires is sort of niche. I've lived in the comedy podcast brosphere and so I
"know" all of the comedians even in small roles on that show. I do think it jumped up in quality from Season 1 to Season 2. So hoping in continues to graduate from low budget "indy"...

It should be unpopular. It's an objectively horrible take.
I'm an MJ guy, always will be. But Lebron James winning a title at 42 years old still being highly productive will most certainly add to his legacy. It's absurd to not think it does. I think the best player ever isn't a longevity award, again I'm an MJ guy but keep in mind that LeBron is going to be 42 years old this basketball season and Michael Jordan was 38 and 39 during his Wizards years not putting up 41 year old Lebron numbers. What he's doing is pure greatness and it's only adding to it...

Ummmm, that's the only time the 3 foot base path rule applies is when a tag
is being attempted. Other than that, a player can run any path they choose.

Northern Virginia treats softball umpires pretty well. I've certainly had
some disagreements with coaches and parents but all and all I've avoided really bad moments. In approximately, 1000 games over the last 3.5 years, I've never had an ejection. 98% of the time my skin is thick and I have a good bed side manner that probably prevents coaches and parents from giving me too much business.
Richmond is a bit rougher. I'm going down there tomorrow for 7 games this weekend so maybe I'll have a different story on Monday. ;-)

your assessment on a forced runner having the absolute right away without having to avoid interference.

Yours is a reasonable judgment. That 3rd base umpire is obviously very good
I just can't absolutely tell that runner's action caused that girl to slip. I will say this, there is no doubt that the shortstop slipping made it look like interference. These are coin flips judgments in split seconds of real time. I'm often the one making these calls, it's fun for me to finally get to armchair from the comfort of an air conditioned room with the ability to look at it multiple times on high speed internet while sitting down with my 4th cup of coffee. That umpire had to do it in real time while on a volunteer assignment.

Yeah, I will say Little League's interference rule may make it an even
easier call. Do you have the same thing in NFHS, USA, and USSSA? I'm not sure I do and I'm known to call no contact interference fairly routinely ticking off coaches. ;-)
I just can't tell that she checked up, I think she slipped and it made it look like interference when I can't see her checking up because of the runner. But it's certainly a reasonable judgment. I just think I agree with U2 and not U3. Watch the video U2 indicates "safe" and then U3 calls it dead so they initially disagreed in real time.

Contact certainly not required, it's just more common for youth players to
awkwardly check up because of a runner whereas college and professional players are going to get the ball no matter what, which either causes contact or forces the runner to check up themselves to avoid interference. This stuff comes up more in youth games, for sure.

There may be some codes in baseball / softball that does protect a runner
on a base. There are nuances of rules differences in various sections that can impact the outcome of rulings, for sure.

An umpire protects 1 fielder who has an absolute right to field an initial
batted ball. Contact is not required. Most code sections simply use the words hinder or impede a fielder's attempt at an initial batted ball. I've called a lot of no contact interference and it's never popular and almost always met with "my runner did nothing wrong, she's in her base path." Not relevant, the fielder was hindered by the runner.

Yeah, I don't think the television angle gives great evidence of that but
U3 had the best view and called it. As an umpire, I watch that clip and can immediately tell it is a very technically sound crew. Very crisp mechanics all around.

What's interesting to me is you immediately see the 3rd base umpire signal
deal ball for interference at the same time the 2nd base umpire signals "safe" meaning no interference. I do think the 3rd base umpire had the best angle but I didn't see any absolute evidence of the shortstop being hindered or impeded by the base runner.
I call no contact interference pretty regularly and it's never a popular call but I typically see the fielder having to check up or alter her path to the ball because of a runner. That didn't clearly happen here from the television angle in my opinion. Though, again, the 3rd base umpire had the best angle and thought so...
Great mechanics by those umpires all around. Plate umpire working the wedge technique. Very crisp, very good umpires.

obstruction for that matter are completely meaningless.

Yeah, he'll be a problem for D's in that he can make some plays but I don't
think he will consistently good enough when he's forced to pass for 1st downs routinely. Their record almost assuredly takes a step back even though they still have an easy schedule.

I bet it flipped to being pretty lucrative in the last year. They're now at
12.6K subscribers. I think just 1,000 gets you to a monetization tier if you get enough hours watched or "views" which seems to be a pretty easy threshold to hit for TSL. Maybe why the daisy cutter has gained strength more recently!!! My opinion has probably changed relative to my initial post this morning. Podcast is probably bringing home the bacon!

It is interesting because it's a real risk in my opinion. The TSL fanbase
are mostly old farts and we're dying off quicker than we're gaining new users. The Franklin hire is obviously a huge boost but we're steadily losing more people than we're gaining I'd have to think. Podcast helps because I do think it's the best produced podcast on Virginia Tech sports but does that podcast drive TSL views and subscriptions?

Of course it had realistic basis. Professional guessers of future sports
occurrences predicted it routinely. Easy to dunk on something when the prediction doesn't pan out.

I certainly realize the red flags but as far as QB prospects go, it sounds like he would have ranked after Mendoza but before Ty Simpson according a concensus of experts had Sorsby been in the 2026 rookie draft.
It only takes 1 of 32 teams to draft him and I suspect a half dozen or more will take some later round fliers, and someone may want to win the sweepstakes by moving as high up as the 3rd maybe? That I don't really know but I'd be shocked if he slips to UDFA based on a grand total of 3 articles I've read today.

Ironically, NYC kids, on average, are given more freedom to take the subway
on their own, etc. NYC teens have generally been more independent than suburban kids.
