The students are told when to be where, what to eat, when to be in class and when not to be, not at all what you would expect if the analysis came down to is it a 1099 contractor or w2 wage employee. Its possible ly coming, look how far things have moved in just 6 years. Coach- I need FMLA for my daughters birth, you cant cut me or sit me when i come back- thats another potential legal challenge-

when the likes of East Tennessee State or some other lowly program with a chip on their shoulder comes to Blacksburg and slaps us around. As much as I enjoy Hokies sports, it’s time for this season to be put out of its misery.

for them to have a role in deciding whether they would accept a post season invitation.
Im not sure that makes sense anymore. Seems the AD department should take their input and make the decision. I realize it is likely unproductive to play in a tournament the team doesn't want to play in but im not a fan of players making significant NIL money telling they do or dont want to play .

way for most employees - which is pretty much what this amounts to these days. Where's the leadership to say: No vote - we're playing.

Has very little influence over their players.
And frankly as much as I respect CMY, and his players maybe respect him, they sure dont fear him. And when I say this I am more about the accountability on the court. He will never be accused of being a hard ass with his players or the officials. Those attributes can cut both ways. Sometimes they make people like you and play hard for you other times it let's them off the hook too easy.

an NIT game in a decade, probably longer. I get the sports industry's interest in playing/covering, but....
Thinking there's more to this....but even so, the posts are interesting

And I couldn't tell you how far they advanced, other than they didn't win it all.
And I'm an avid fan, and was in NYC when they won it in '95. NIT just does not matter anymore, I couldn't care less if they play or don't.
