How's about a Saturday night music thread, if anyone is home. I remember
thankbud (RIP) used to be a participant. Tonight I ask...name me a movie/soundtrack combo that is better overall than The Graduate. I just threw some rosemary and thyme on some pork sirloin steaks for the grill, and well...The Graduate is going to come to mind every time. What a great movie. What great corresponding songs.

It has to be American Graffiti. It can somehow make you nostalgic
for a time that you missed by 40 years.

Hard Days Night (Soundtrack Version) is excellent and the only USA release
to not be released by Capitol before Apple records became a thing. It was instead released by United Artists.

American Pie, though it has some carryover with The Graduate.
Mrs. Robinson is on both soundtracks. Also, Forrest Gump. ** Edited by Chris Coleman at 7/18/2026, 11:59:56 PM

^^ very solid ^^
The movie was just okay, but it had everyone talking about the soundtrack for sure, and a mini-resurgence of classic R&R ensued.

Ziggy Marley's version of The Cars "Drive" alone would put it in contention, but there are 5-6 other gems on that soundtrack...

Say what you will about Dustin Hoffman, but he never removed his bra this sexily. Not even in "Tootsie". ** Edited by KCHokie2 at 7/18/2026, 7:51:50 PM
