I just finished City of Thieves last night and highly recommend it.
It's a very easy (quick) reading historical fiction novel by David Benioff that takes place during the siege of Leningrad. Fantastic characters and entertaining (although somewhat unrealistic) plot. BTW, Benioff also directed (and wrote some) Game of Thrones.

I don't want to sound like Costanza, but
I would appreciate a simple "thank you" when I add a 15% tip to my Firehouse Sub order. Has tipping when paying at the counter become expected?
(And I'm not adverse to giving dollar bills to the blind.)

And their behavior in Scotland is just as genuine. Just visit any pub
and you will witness it. Scotland remains my favorite destination (so far). Amazing scenery and culture.

I'm thinking about 10-days between the 3 cities; 3-days per city
plus a day to travel from one city to the next. Can't wait! Sounds like you're having an awesome trip.

I just learned this week that my great-great-grandfather fought in the
Civil War:
Major Battles of the 43rd North Carolina Infantry (1863â1865)As part of Danielâs (later Grimesâs) Brigade in the Army of Northern Virginia, Tank's G-G-F's regiment fought in these core campaigns:
The Battle of Gettysburg (July 1â3, 1863): Attached to Rodes' Division, the 43rd North Carolina was heavily engaged in fierce assault operations, most notably attacking the heavily fortified Union right flank at Culp's Hill. The regiment suffered severe casualties, losing roughly 26% of its engaged force.
The Plymouth Campaign (April 17â20, 1864): The regiment returned briefly to its home state to help Confederate forces successfully siege and recapture the Union-held garrison at Plymouth, North Carolina.
The Overland Campaign (MayâJune 1864): His unit saw brutal, close-quarters combat against General Ulysses S. Grant's forces at the Battle of the Wilderness, the Spotsylvania Court House (specifically the infamous "Bloody Angle"), and the Battle of Cold Harbor.
Early's Shenandoah Valley Campaign (JulyâOctober 1864): The regiment participated in Jubal Earlyâs bold march toward Washington, D.C., fighting at Snicker's Gap (Cool Spring), Charlestown, and the decisive Battle of Cedar Creek.
The Siege of Petersburg and Appomattox (1864â1865): The remnants of the regiment manned the trenches defending Richmond and Petersburg. Though his active roll presence cuts off in February 1865, his unit fought to the very end, participating in the final skirmishes leading to the surrender at Appomattox Court House on April 9, 1865.

Every time it's looked okay here at Gaston Lake, I sat out on the deck to
read some. Then it would immediately start spitting fine rain, bringing me back inside. (Real world problems)
Now drinking heavily...Old Grand-Dad Bonded...cheers to the Lounge.

I loved the comment about Duke's batting discipline, just as the batter
chases a high riser for the 3rd strike.

Score! I just paid $300 (plus tip) for a yard guy and his wife to
weed my mulch beds, edge them, and put down a thick layer of mulch. I was going to do it myself, but the mulch alone would have cost me more.

They are having one of their best total sports years. Also, ranked #3 in
Director's Cup. She's doing something right...at least this year.
