I don't want to sound like Costanza, but
I would appreciate a simple "thank you" when I add a 15% tip to my Firehouse Sub order. Has tipping when paying at the counter become expected?
(And I'm not adverse to giving dollar bills to the blind.)

Everybody except wait staff, who rely on tips. Everybody else gets paid a wage to do their job.
