It’s that time of year. Required workplace trainings list….

And they wonder why we have to go back a full week before students. Keep in mind this doesn’t include training for actual “teaching” like implantation of new math curriculum and language arts meetings (which are both all day meetings), school specific meeting, meet the teacher night, all county opening session, and more. These are the required county trainings: Child Abuse – Mandatory Reporting Sexual Misconduct: Staff-to-Student Bloodborne Pathogens FERPA: Confidentiality of Records Student Mental Health: Awareness, Intervention & Referral Ethics in the Workplace Title IX Compliance Overview Maintaining Professional Staff/Student Boundaries Sexual Harassment: Staff-to-Staff Restraint and Seclusion Drug-Free Workplace Workplace Bullying: Awareness & Prevention Students Experiencing Homelessness De-escalation Strategies Workplace Injury Prevention Health Emergencies (overview) Fire Extinguisher Safety

I’m digging her songs. I’m a 90s rock guy and grew up on alternative

Music. Love some good rap from back in the day. But never was into country. More recently I’ve found myself leaning toward country music. Maybe it’s just that everyone is different. I can’t stand bands like Rush or Aerosmith or Pink Floyd. I don’t like a lot of music produced nowadays either. Many people say the same thing you said about T Swift…and for the most part I would too. But o will admit there are some of her songs I really like. Many probably said the same about Shania Twain back in the day. I thought her songs were catchy but was not impressed. I like Langley voice and delivery. It’s not the most beautiful voice but there’s something smooth and sultry about it. Her songs are catchy and easily sing-a-longable. I originally thought You Look Like You Love Me would be a one hit wonder but she continues to crank out some fun catchy songs. Be Her is better than Choosing Texas in my opinion. But that’s music. We won’t all like the same thing.

I am hooked on YouTube real crime videos. So many times they are able to

Use flock and traffic cameras to help solve crimes that likely would have been almost impossible to prove. I don’t mind them as well as the gunshot detection devices. Now, if someone can prove that they’re being used inappropriately, I’m willing to change my mind. But until then I think they’ve done a great amount of good.

Isn’t that kinda like the toll roads with plate scanners? If you borrow my

Car and take it through one of those, I get the bill. I think the speeding fines are done the same way. It’s just a fine. Doesn’t go on your insurance or license.

Bristol, VA speed camera catches over 36,000 speeders in 2 months.

I hate those cameras…because, well, I like to speed. But I totally understand why they have them. As long as I know where they are, it’s not a big deal. Much better than a cop hidden backed up on an on-ramp.

Several school systems around us have been doing it. I’m interested to see

How many new kids we get with all the new coaches at VT. Our school zone encompasses the country club and a few other areas that coaches tend to live.

I go back Aug 3rd. Kids come back on the 10th*

Our county is trying something new by having new students (those moving up to new schools like new to Kindergarten, 6th grade, 9th grade) start back a day earlier than everyone else.

Took my (other) daughter to one of her doctors this week. Something wasn’t

Right. I didn’t understand what he was saying. To quote Ron Burgundy, “Oh Baxter, you know I don’t speak Spanish.”

Daughter is safely back home from her mission trip to Mexico. Their teams

Built 7 homes for families in one week. Here’s her team with the house they built. No travel issues until they were about a mile from home and their bus hit a deer. Fortunately they were in a big ol’ charter bus so they barely felt it…the deer, well, he gone.

Did you visit Milligan? That may be where my daughter ends up. We were

Thinking about also visiting King but haven’t yet. Just wondering how the two compare.
