The backing into parking space epidemic is out of control
The erased car on the right is mine. I pulled through from the left and went into a store. When I came out I found that tesla parked behind me like that.

State Farm did a study.
It cuts accident probability by something like 80% or so.

My wife always backs into a parking space..
because she can't pull in on the first try...not kidding...
HokieDan95 HokieDan95 OP
The main thing here is they didn't need to back in

I always make sure to take up 4 spots. Cause I’m better than everyone else.

That there is a Kia Sorento. We own one too, and we park it the same way.
Can't have anybody dinging up that classic. TIC

Sheep/Herd/Follower mentality
It's a small example of when a large mass of people gets dumbed down. There are several consequences of a dumbed down population. One of those is "follower-pack-belong-herd" mentality. An example of this is a 2 lane road or highway where you have one car going 45 in a 55mph zone in the right hand lane and there remains 15 cars behind that car looking Dead Straight Ahead right behind the slow vehicle and those people aren't even considering getting to the left lane and passing. They are Following-Fitting in-Waiting to "be told or instructed", and then of course, one of those cars in that line thinks for themselves and moves to the left lane and goes around. Another example of this entire mentality that actually goes along with your parking situation is the Fallacy of "playing to the audience" when debating or arguing. This will come in the form of someone giving their opinion and starting their statement with "We, or Tell Us". They are pointing out they belong to the herd, and you don't (so something just surely be wrong with you) and in that situation, they even elect themselves to speak for the herd. All of the above including your example is part of this dumbed down population of which one of the consequences are "Follow, lump in, Herd, Sheep."

My favorite are the drivers leaving 4+ car lengths in turn lanes
(and at traffic lights). Cars can't access the turn lanes and back up the thru lane. It's an epidemic.
HokieDan95 HokieDan95 OP
That and when people take their time turning, leaving 3 car lengths ahead
of them when those lights are short

I don't use plural pronouns like "their" for singular idiots.

When is that parking lot ever that empty? You (not me) could hit a 5 iron
to my office from that spot.

I will park in rear of the parking lot if I can find 2 open spaces where I
can drive through the first and park in the second and not have to back out of a parking space. To many dumbasses walking around that are in a blind spot or pretend to not notice you are backing up or other cars that just hang in lane directly behind you knowing you are needing to back up. At least when I am facing forward they can see my wrath.

REALLY wanted the shortest legal walk possible, didn't they?
Or maybe just liked going ass to ass with your car.

Thank goodness my wife always says "park and walk, park and walk". We park
if possible, where there are multiple open spaces and don't wait for people to leave or squeeze into spots between people that can't get in the lines evenly. ** Edited by coshokie at 7/16/2026, 10:50:07 AM

I do the same, and rarely go through a drive thru
CVS drive through no way. I go in, get my prescriptions, and see the drive through only processed one car because they are waiting on the pharmacists to talk to them. I go inside, their are 4 pickups areas and they process it quickly.
