Happy 1 year Anniversary to the TSL endlessly spinning âsubmittingâ bug.
Or thereabouts.
I was on vacation at about this time 1 year ago when I first encountered the issue. Happening again on this vacation.

Did that evolve into "Steppin Out"? I attended that during the 1 summer
I stayed at VT. 1989 summer, I think.

Did it, done it, been there. Bypassing the ballast isn't TOO difficult, but
it's also pretty easy just buying the tubes with the extra wiring / hardware in them already. A bit more expensive, but no big deal.

Please join me in prayer all. Dear lord, can we pray that you give brother
jdkhokie a paragraph? or 2? Maybe even 3 or 4.
Amen.

Except that they were cleared.
I might forward this to their lawyers.....but we can talk about a reasonable fee NOT to.

When the game started, I was wasnât particularly rooting for either team.
But as it went on, I was rooting for Spain because they clearly deserved to win, and losing in pks would have been a shippy way to lose.

Iâm not going to give out likes, but Iâll back âFree Edgemanâ
I donât remember the exact wording of the post that got him sent off, but I do remember that it was barely definable as âpolitical â.

Is there a bar in Blacksburg called MC Larities?

REALLY wanted the shortest legal walk possible, didn't they?
Or maybe just liked going ass to ass with your car.

I actually read the ingredients one time. I forget the exact order, but
the first ingredient was, I think, sugar. 2nd was wheat, then honey and high fructose corn syrup. 3 of the first 4 ingredients were all sweeteners. High calorie sweeteners.

Agreed. They don't look right, but given the rest of her, I bet I can find
a good way to deal with the lips.

Also imagine though if you win a free kick from a decent scoring range, or
a corner kick, but there's only 3 seconds left on a tightly controlled clock. It would suck to earn a good scoring opportunity DURING totally correct time, but you didn't have time to actually attempt it?
That's why the whistle doesn't blow when there's a decent attack chance happening.

I think that PKs are a lousy way to settle a soccer game. Like others
stated, it's like a FT contest determining the outcome of a basketball game. The 2 ways mentioned mean that it's still soccer, not some vaguely relevant soccer skill.

2 possible replacements for straight up PKs deciding knock out soccer games
1. I first read this from someone on this board. When you get to overtime, each team takes a player off the field every 5 minutes. Eventually, there so much space, someone will score (and yes, it's golden goal).
2. Seen on an Instagram post and I kinda liked it. After 90, you do penalty kicks right away, BUT....whoever wins the PK shootout doesn't WIN. Instead, they get 1/2 of a goal. THEN you play the full 30 minutes of OT. That forces the team that's down by .5 to try and make something happen, and you don't get what can be the most boring 30 minutes you've ever seen as each team is too afraid to attack and willing to take a chance on PKs.
I posted this as a reply on a different thread, but wanted to put it out there as its' own subject.

I think you comparing Soccer to US Football is just way off base. The only
thing those 2 sports have in common are:
1. Both are sports
2. Both are called "Football"
3. Both are played 11 v 11
And that's about it.
I think there can be some comparisons to Basketball and Hockey. Like soccer, both of those games have 'flow'. Offense turns to defense instantly, with the same players on the field doing both. That happens in football on a fumble or interception a few times a game, but it's just not the same. When there's a turnover in football, if it's not an immediate score, then offensive and defensive specialists all switch. In the other 3 sports, all, the same guys just continue.
In football, you line up with a plan of attack and run a 5 to 8 second long play, then you do it again, and again. In soccer, basketball and hockey, yeah, there are set plays, but 99% of the game and success comes from improvising.
Offsides in football is a vastly different animal, and football is a vastly different sport.
Note - I do like football, a lot, but the comparison you're making just doesn't hold.

Sometimes intent doesn't matter. I'm 50/50 on that being a red. It could
be interpreted as a reckless challenge that had the potential to cause serious injury, even if there was no intent to injure.
OK, I'm not totally 50/50. I'd lean towards yellow as well. But I also don't think it was a horrendous call.

Offsides is necessary, but I wouldn't mind seeing some modification to it.
A couple of possible tweaks come to mind.
1. Once the ball is inside the 18 (extended, not just the box), you can be anywhere any time. Once it's that close, the D damn well better be checking each guy or pay the price.
2. Or a little more like hockey where the ball has to cross the 18 extended first, then anything goes.
3. Your whole body has to be past the deepest defender, not just a pinky toe. Though I admit that this one would lead to just another type of barely being offside by a pinky toe.

Pretty sure I knew this anyway, but might as well steal @EDGEMAN 's answer.

I'm starting to realize that my personality and live events aren't a good
mix. My son and I were at the England vs Panama game.
I spend too much time focusing on:
- The dad with 2 young kids who isn't keeping an eye on them for bad behavior.
- Wondering why people are standing in front of me when nothing exciting is happening AND no one is standing in front of them.
- You spent HUNDREDS on these tickets, and you've gone to concessions (or the bathroom) 5 times!!!
- Yes, you're at the game with your older mother who doesn't know soccer well, but please stop with the non stop commentary, opinions and rules explanations.
And probably a few other things.
