I might have to put cat food on my shopping list. It looks like I have a
regular customer. I've sporadically been feeding this little gray cat (kitten?) with big, bushy foxtail. I look out for her(?) now. I fed her last night, and she is on her second helping this morning, haha. Lots of sweet little "mews" going on - pretty cool that she allows me to get kinda close to her already. I was never a cat person. I've been missing out.

My brother in law bought a farm from an old widow's estate.
When he & my sister moved in, there were something like 100 cats running around. The widow had fed cats This is how you get 100 cats Coach. Caaarrrrefullllll booosssss.... but then the coyotes moved through the area. They got down to 2 or 3 cats after that.

Nature is cruel as hell. Well, I have gone through this once before. I had
befriended and fed this beautiful little kitten, and was all set to trap her and take her in to get neutered, but she was struck and killed by a car the night before I was going to kidnap her. I found her on the highway when I was walking the dogs. A sad day, for sure. I will try my best with this one, too. If there is a concerted effort, this problem can be solved. A lot of people are on the case here in the Keys, thankfully. Miami, not so much. The shelter I will get the trap from told me people from Miami dump kittens on them regularly in the middle of the night. I don't know how they know it's Miami people - Keys people blame Miami people for a lot of our woes, justified or not.

I rescued one, got it neutered, brought it to a cat rescue
My wife decided she like the new one that came around a month later. He is letting me get real close and follows me to the horse barn and sits just outside it.

Still keep my distance. I remember my grandad kept them around his barn.

And you know why?
To work. To kill mice around the barn and the corn bin.

To annoy me?

Do humans ever have cats, or do cats have humans?
Seems to me that cats simply allow humans the "privileges" of providing food and the occasional brief encounter. There is a cat in our neighborhood that roams pretty freely, and I'm fairly certain multiple families think she is "their" cat.

Wrong, my cat follows me around like a dog. A real kitty dog.
When laying on couch or in my recliner he wants to be on my chest and pet him.

Ha, yeah, I was wondering about that last part...I guess I will
just pretend.

You're doing a good thing, Coach.
I was never a cat person either, but I've come to adore our neighborhood cat. She's really the only cat that I've ever had any sort of bond with.

Cats do work around the house...
we have an indoor cat that alerts us to any type of potential problems and one from outside is a natural killer. soon it will leave you trophies and proof of work- here is something dead to prove the work....

We have 8 rescue cats……
Have over 800 cans of cat food and 3000 lbs of kitty litter in the garage. Was stocking up at Costco.

Damn, my two horses eat 11,000 pounds of hay a year ....
Is that a years supply? My costs is about 3k for the horses. What is your costs a year?

I have to admit that I NEVER pictured you as 'crazy cat lady'
Coach McGuirk Coach McGuirk OP
LOL! OK! I will now never be allowed to come here crying about the
500lbs of bird seed stacked on a chair for the chickens consumption. You win by a mile.

The more cats one has the higher one goes on the crazy scale.
Best of luck! You treat your kitties well.
